Rank your coach picks? (and other stuff)
And other stuff. It's only taking a bit over an hour and a half to hit 200. Maybe we'll go for 300 (of the non-Spartan variety).
Though about 75 of the last thread might have been about pizza....

There is only one Patterson candidate. The Boise St. coach is named Petersen.

Harbaugh is gone, baby, gone, so Gary Patterson has got to be at the top of Dave Brandon's list. He's at the top of mine.

You would think. But considering all the noise coming out of NW, I'm starting to think that Fitz was the first that was seriously reached out to. That does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling about this coaching search.

1. Patterson
2. Mullen
3. Pelini (I think -- the guy scares me, literally)
4. A bunch of other people
10. Hoke/Miles (neither one is very enticing -- Miles wins but is old and batshit crazy)
I have no idea where Jon Gruden fits on that list, and I'm having a hard time believing the rumor about John Harbaugh leaving a consistent NFL winner to coach here.

and I would cosign.

I suppose Whittingham would be somewhere in that mix of 4-10.
I'm not overwhelmed with what he's done at Utah -- I think he was set up pretty well by Urban Meyer and has a lot of advantages over the competition, and Utah really fell off the table at the end of the year -- but he's a solid coach with a good defensive background, so he would be a little ahead of Hoke on my list.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:03 PM ^
1) Harbaugh - to keep the old-guard quiet.
2) Mullen - if he brings Diaz, would be a nice young guy with some success.
3) Paterson - loves defense, similar offense.
4) Denard - as player/coach
5) Red Berenson
6) Dylon

10) and Dylon - he spits hot fire.

What happened to "JH"? (That's Jesus Harbaugh, to those less well-informed.) I thought that nobody had to worry about things like the Dee Hart decommit, because, well, I'll let mackbru explain:
Would have loved to see him play here. And maybe JH will draw Dee back into the fold.
That being said, the news is also kind of a relief. Can't blame the kid for being uncertain, given the cc uncertainty. But the back-and-forth was getting over the top. Dee obviously likes the game within the game. More power to him. Godspeed.
JH has landed three blue-chip backs this recruiting season. I'm pretty sure he'll find a good one for us. Michigan, under JH, should be more attractive to bigger, more classically NFL-sized backs. That M has sent a zillion backs to the NFL, and that JH turned Toby G into a Heisman candidate, will not be lost on recruits.
That was you, mackbru, immediately after we lost Dee Hart to Alabama.

Then why not take a look at Ricky Powers. He has brought back Akron Buchtel, back to a state power in Ohio again. I know we are talking about HS, but it is D1 in Ohio and he would come with a great feel for recruiting in the state.

Wow...a total pipe dream, but that would shock the world.
The guy is an unbelievable football coach, a high morals motivator, and he would love the opportunity to mold young men. The recruiting would rock. Gotta send out a feeler to the man from Jackson, Michigan!
If it came down to him and Harbaugh, I'd be seriously torn.
