Should we be suspitious of any head coach who talks with a “low-level” staffer on the sidelines? I wonder if other coaches talk to their paid staff while coaching.
Anger is a normal human emotion, no shame in being a human, and honestly theres appropriate times to express it. But the likelihood of appropriate rage over a football game is probably slim. I have struggled with getting too frustrated, a john navare interception to the oregon ducks caused me to punch the ground in high school and give me a boxing fracture. I like how some people have posted about prepping themselves before the game and decide what level of frustration is ok. Lately ive had some relief telling myself and other people around me when they start getting my hopes up about winning - that we are still probably going to lose. Maybe that sucks but it balances out the perspective enough for me to enjoy it more.
Can we get an “NIT” tournament for college football? Why not have these other bowl games mean something and give players who actually play and not go to the portal, cash incentives for winning the tournament? you heard it here first.
Devils advocate here but maybe I just feel like if im donating money it should go to cancer reaearch or something like that? The ncaa is trying to pin this on the fans and it looks like we are enabling it.
Most people didnt think it was plausible for michigan to beat osu last year, same thing this year….its been a crazy season, anything can happen, scenarios the OP suggested may not be relevant right now but im sure conferences will evaluate championship games and risk/reward with greater understanding after USCs loss. Just my take…
I love to ponder “what-ifs” myself, its a type of critical thinking. some people may think its dumb and a waste of time, maybe it is, or maybe its way ahead of everybody else (in terms of evaluating the motivation in playing a conference championship). Probably not but you do you.
Its the same guy, this was just a different emotion. Hes an emotional guy, not the analytics guy. Both have their strengths, I try myself to balance them, easier said than done.

I remember not liking how quiet the rest of the stadium was when I was a student too (2008 alum) but the truth is the student section wasn't impressive then either and it isn't now. You can defend it if you want but I don't know why you would. The "you suck" chant still is horrible. I think the students should always take it upon themselves to bring the energy to these games and get the crowd going.
If the Big East falls apart, doesn't that put more pressure on Notre Dame to join the Big Ten? If all their other sports teams needed to join a conference which conference would they choose other than the Big Ten? And would the Big Ten allow them to join without having their football team commit as well?
I have to disagree with the d being soft. I haven't seen the defense hit that hard in a long time. The offense was def more consistent as well. When was the last game we had 0 turnovers and 1 penalty though the 3rd quater?
So in your hypothetical world stonum has only drank twice in twice in two years and both times got a dui. That means everytime he drank he got a dui.... Just another way of looking at it. You don't need to drink to having a drinking problem.
Completely agree. Going to college at michigan almost killed me. I had a serious drinking problem. If people think the "I'm in college" excuse to get hammered and make poor choices, (yes getting hammered in itself is a poor choice IMO), is justifiable, I'm here to tell you it will always catch up and bite you in the ass.
We can never be sure that he has an alcohol problem 100% but for us it doesn't matter. I hope he can come to that conclusion himself because that's really the only thing that matters. This issue is very personal to me, I hope the best for him, but football should not be one of his priorities right now. If he earns the privledge to a part of this team again, I will be cheering for him but he's been given a second chance already. We'd be going out on a limb to give him another one.
Have to agree with you. I'm willing to bet the majority of people we meet on a daily basis have driven over the limit. I'm also willing to bet that the people that get caught are doing it more often. Bottom line, Jalen got caught and he's going to accept the consequences. I'm not going to judge the man off of this. I hope he gets the help he needs correct it. Personally, I quit drinking 6 months ago and my lifes gotten considerably better. Sprite is a great alternative.
Def reading too much into that....Every coach has to earn the respect of their players...I think the PLAYERS gave RR a fair shot. That should not even be a question.
I had to pay for my own UofM tuition and I just think its crazy when I hear parents paying for all their kids college. Especially when they may become history majors and this sort of thing. I'm all for investing in education but when it's 40g's+ and the return for most history majors is less than that/year I start to wonder. Now if you have money to blow, that's another thing, my parents didn't, but I'd say I got better grades because I had to pay for it.
Always nice to have that dream especially at such a young age. If he wants it bad enough he'll find a way to get in. I was put on the waiting list but got a little help from the military. Sports are great to have, but U of M is most interested in leaders. Not just participating in activities but being a captain, or the "orgainizer" always helps. Figuring out what interests/passions he has will be a good place to start. Even if thats not what he ends up doing just building that goal-oriented attitude will breed success.
