Michigan favored by 5 over State.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:25 PM ^
That will move to 3.5 by week's end. I imagine people will jump all over Sparty +5 in the next couple days
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:31 PM ^
A plus 1 to you sir. The MSU side of that line is going to catch a lot of action.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:39 PM ^
right now, about to dial 1-800-MYB-OOKIE
October 3rd, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
had me fearing an ENTIRELY different post.
That said, yeah, that line is VERY well set. Gonna catch a ton of State supporters losing money.
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:21 PM ^
If I were a betting man, I'd be taking MSU and the over HARD.
The winner of this game wil win by 3 or 4, probably 38-35 or 42-38.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:29 PM ^
if it moved to their favor by Saturday given the win over Wisconsin and our poor defensive performance against IU.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:40 PM ^
Read a little bit about sports betting. There is slim to no chance it moves past -3. The number is just entirely too powerful.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:29 PM ^
that's going to go down.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:34 PM ^
Our home field advantage isn't worth 4 pts.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:38 PM ^
Sportsbooks spot the home team 3 points and set the line from there. In other words, on a neutral field UM would be -2.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:50 PM ^
Or maybe they have seen our D, and our O (and Sparty's), and aren't freaking out as much as some of our fanbase is.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:37 PM ^
We will win this week, and regain the state of michigan back. How many yards will Denard Robinson gain this week?
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:02 PM ^
We never lost the state of Michigan.
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:51 PM ^
Chair related beat downs cause huge rating increases
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:53 PM ^
Another thing to keep in mind is that Michigan is receiving a ton of national hype and that we're already a much more popular team than State, so that combined with home field makes me think that this game is basically a pick 'em or MSU might even be a slight favorite.
Remember, sports books are set so that 50% of people will bet one way and 50% will bet another, so a team with a lot of hype like Michigan is going to get an inflated line.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:53 PM ^
How the earth did State jump us for one thing, and how can they be even that close to us?? They can't stop our offense at all, and their offense really doesn't stand a chance against our defense!
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:56 PM ^

October 3rd, 2010 at 6:01 PM ^
Haha! +1 to you. Plus one.
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:57 PM ^
So who is your real favorite team?
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
Michigan duh. Who's your favorite team? Where's the faith!?
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:04 PM ^
No way this stays that high. If I were a betting man, i would be taking State with that line.
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:09 PM ^
Lines are based on money......UM grads make more money.....hence we should be favored everytime....
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
more. There are plenty of high-stakes gamblers who don't have a pot to piss in.
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:10 PM ^
I never understood sports gambling.
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:10 PM ^
a betting man. As a life-long Michigan fan and absolute MSU hater.....i would jump all over that and take the points.
MSU has the best defense we have seen as yet. They do not have the potent offense that IU had...but they are not slouches either.
And our defense is......well.......you know.....
I cannot bear the idea of losing to those JO's again.
( JO's=Jack-Offs)
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:55 PM ^
MSU has the best defense we have seen as yet.
You might want to say best LBs. The rest of that defense is decent, but I don't think it comprises the best we've seen, even with some of the weak defenses we've seen.
October 3rd, 2010 at 8:21 PM ^
Well, I doubt Greg Jones is much better than Manti Te'o. And Notre Dame's Denard-adjusted run defense is right there with MSU's, and ND has faced MSU, BC, and Stanford.
So I agree: there's a lot of truth in the MSU's-defense-isn't-the-best-we've-seen idea.
October 3rd, 2010 at 9:12 PM ^
and i am not too impressed with their secondary. But i still believe over-all, they are at least slightly better than ND's defense.
If our offense is as good this Saturday as it has been so far.....i like our chances A LOT.
Its very hard for any team to match us when it comes to scoring....
Just a gut feeling....but i think we pass a lot more this week than we have been.
October 4th, 2010 at 1:02 AM ^
...I'd say about the same...or one very fortunately officiated overtime fake call better.
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:42 PM ^
IMHO, it will settle in somewhere around UM -3 or -3.5 when it is all said and done.
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:46 PM ^
fuck state
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:57 PM ^
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:58 PM ^
More like it!
October 3rd, 2010 at 8:25 PM ^
So do you prefer Stuck Fate! (Somehow that does seem to be good for Sparty.)
October 3rd, 2010 at 9:56 PM ^
Stupid "502 Gateway Error".
October 3rd, 2010 at 9:54 PM ^
Maybe. It has a nice ring to it.
My all-time favorite has to be:
Spuck the Fartans!
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:06 PM ^
Meanwhile, it was fun to see Lynn Henning in the News write,
The Spartans will be favored, and should be.
Henning, stick to baseball. Let Wojo and Angelique show you how it's done.
October 3rd, 2010 at 8:32 PM ^
Henning is the News' State homer, and wil always write garbage like this. His articles consistently range from "Why is State always underrated?" to "State is struggling this year, but don't count them out"
I think Angelique picked Michigan last week by more than a touchdown ... I wonder if that has changed after this past weekend.
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:06 PM ^
I was thinking we would be favored by 1. They've been more impressive than we have this year, with the big caveat that they haven't played a road game yet.
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:48 PM ^
yeah, Spartys have played 4 home games and in front of 15,000 at Ford Field. have not experienced a hostile environment yet. let's make sure that we give them one. i will be in Section 19 raising hell. . . . . .GO BLUE!
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:28 PM ^
Seems to me like it's gonna be close, seeing as UM & MSU both played ND in really close games. And since it's so close, I'm going with UM, since they have home-field advantage.
And somehow MSU's more balanced team doesn't frighten me as much as Indiana's passing game did.
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:47 PM ^
Sagarin has us at 29 on his predictor rankings and Sparty at 40.
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:57 PM ^
I think state has a slightly better defense than ND, but they obviously dont have the weapons on offense that ND has. I like Michigan's chances at home.
October 3rd, 2010 at 7:58 PM ^
Dear God,
Please, please let the D play better.... It doesn't have to be a lot better, but just a little. Amen.
October 3rd, 2010 at 9:17 PM ^
I have a feeling that Coach has some goodies in the tank for the Big Ten Skull-Crackin' Tour.
No idea why. Just a hunch. Yeah, we suck on D, but we've yet to take the wraps off the Death Butterfly just yet.
I'm taking the OVER.
October 3rd, 2010 at 9:25 PM ^
The ONLY way Sparty is going to win is if Dantonio's Mafia uses guns ...
Too bad for them we have Denard - he dodges(er, outruns!!) bullets
Sorry Sparty - time for the balance of power to come back to equilibrium.
All in for BLUE!!
October 3rd, 2010 at 9:40 PM ^
but I keep believing that the defense is going to keep improving little by little and then just shock the heck out of us with a break through in a big game. I'm just hoping it happens soon, preferably against State. All the team really needs is a few more stops on defense they could do something special this year. GO BLUE!!!
October 3rd, 2010 at 10:06 PM ^
Defense plays like it did last week = Sure loss
Defense plays like it did against ND = Sure victory
It's all on you D.
