OT: Nova G, Donte DiVincenzo, to stay for the NBA Draft

Submitted by Michigan4Life on

Villanova sophomore Donte DiVincenzo will remain in the 2018 NBA Draft and forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility, sources told Yahoo.

The Final Four Most Outstanding Player had strong Combine, has performed well in team workouts.

This is noteworthy considering Michigan will face Villanova in the Gavitt Classic next season. Nova will lose a lot in Brunson, Bridges, Speilman and DiVincenzo. Charles Matthews have tomorrow to decide to stay or come back to Michigan.

I hope the Celtcis draft Donte late in Rd 1. I hope they dont take Charles Matthews. I will never understand a basketball player giving up school to be a late 2nd Rd pick.

How many of those guys are successful? And dont say IT, his weakness was his height not ability.

Charles Matthews is apparently 99% gone.. WTF! When was the last time a guy actually stayed.. This upcoming year could have been amazing.. He was going to be the center piece of that team.. Having to deal with this every year and most likely seeing most of the juniors leave early for the 2019 NFL Draft just sucks man... And I have nothing against guys chasing their dreams but this is why we can't and don't win shit!

Wagner stayed, Burke, McGary, GR3, and Hardaway all stayed another year than they absolutely had to. Plenty of guys have stayed, some have left.  On the football side tons of potential late round draft picks have come back for another year, most of 2015's dline, willie henry, taylor lewan, etc.

People only remember the perceived negatives. We don't win shit for a variety of reasons but every elite football and basketball team wins games with freshman and sophmores at key positions.

Moe was supposed to stay. Most would say the same about Charles.. But instead, last second he decides a change of plans. Ibi Watson transferred because he was pretty sure C Mat would be back.. Beilein wanted to take in a grad transfer but now the cupboard is empty.. If Matthews does decide to stay in the draft, some people got screwed over and the 2018 team will be mediocre, Matthews would have been the best on the 2018 roster. This past year we were stuck asking ourselves "I wonder how much better this team would have been with DJ" same routine with Matthews in 2018-19..

Seriously, you just disproved your own damn point. We wondered about DJ Wilson for a second and then went to the championship game. There's talent on the roster with or without Matthews. This frosh class can be just as good as 2012. Trust in Beilein and his development skills.

He's not likely to be drafted, but some sites have him ranked in the top 20-25 prospects for next year.

Choice seems obvious, but maybe he's hearing actual information instead of just internetz.

is getting feedback from NBA teams he worked out with and other NBA scouts as well. None of the prospects are relying on the internets to make their decision.

This is how DJ Wilson declared and stayed for the draft. There were ton of fans who blasted DJ for declaring when they said he was projected to get drafted at 2nd round or undrafted and yet, DJ got drafted at 1st round.

Wilson was defintely project in the late first round by this point in the draft process. I distinctly remember Brian saying he should declare because of it. On the other hand, Matthews has Darius Morris written all over him.

We will be fine as always. Different offense but better defense. There is a lot you can do with Teske as your big. I’m more excited for that shot volume to go Jordan Poole and Isiah Livers. Man those two are going to be fun. The whole team will be fun. Wish Charles the best - we will always laugh at Nick Ward together...

Ugh. Sounds like Matthews is gone. Just can’t catch a break. Even when a guy does stay (Burke or Moe) Michigan still gets screwed in the end anyway.
