Sparty's Cupcake Conference Schedule

Submitted by Mike Damone on

Sparty may have a good team, but I can't let their regular season BIG championship go without mentioning that they got a HUGE break with their schedule.  Perhaps the most advantageous I have seen.  Consider their schedule against what I consider the top 5 other teams in the BIG:

Michigan - Only played once at home, did not have to play on the road.  Lost at home.

Ohio State - Only played once on the road, and lost.

Purdue, Nebraska and Penn State - Only played once at home and did not have to play on the road.  Won at home.  All three are absolute bears to beat on the road.  Michigan had to play all three on the road, and went 1-2.

Don't want this to be sour grapes, and I know they cant control their schedule.  But man...

Bring on the tourneys, and let the best team prevail!  Go Blue!

Yep. Can we make them not Michigan's rivals? Can we make them change their school name so there is never a confusion between Michigan and Michigan State. I just do not want Michigan to have any association whatsoever to Michigan State anymore.

Ohio State is Michigan's one and only rival

oh and Illinois....and Rutgers...

Good day sir. Keep defending an institution that allowed a man to rape hundreds of women and girls over 20 years. Hundreds. Let that sink in. That’s your school. Hundreds. I could give two shits if UM ever won another game so long as nothing that evil take place in Ann Arbor. Hundreds.

I wouldn’t even tell people I was a Michigan State fan if I were you. Such a disgusting aura that surrounds that dump. That stain will never wash off. Never.

appreciate that.  it looks also like you have notched down the troll some, and that in the face of some provocation to do the alternative.  a serious question with a set up for you:

i personally don't think izzo or dantonio are going anywhere with the nassar deal leading to all the title IX issues including the football and hoops teams.  i suppose there is at least the possibility that this b-ball thing might be the straw that breaks the camel's back for izzo.  again though, if its only $400 to bridge's mom then no, no way on that either.  that said, under what, if any, scenario do you see either of the big 2 state coaches either resigning or getting pushed out?

taking scandals, they are exactly alike...not.  now, lets dispense with the troll responses and you go ahead and answer the question i asked.  if you read my question you will see i actually agree TZ and MD probably aren't going anywhere, but the question was more of: under what scenario would you see that happening.  asking for a thoughtful response, not a troll response.

I just saw Houston is beating ECU 62-13 at halftime. I guess if you are the ECU coach you can always say we have the ability to make the biggest comeback in NCAA history in the locker room.

They are a National embarrassment but they won. Do you think their followers really care that their players cheat, beat women, and act like convicts? Actually, they look like convicts ... go figure

Well since Michigna State has not been proven to have paid any players in the last 25 years,  I think Michigan still takes the cake there.

As for arrrests?   We can look recently if you'd like:

Nate Johnson (September 30, 2017)
Grant Perry (December 21, 2016)
Alex Malzone (April 26, 2016)
Jim Minick (May 9, 2015)
Frank Clark (November 15, 2014)
Csont’e York (August 8, 2014)
Jake Butt (April 2014)
Graham Glasgow (March 15, 2014)
Taylor Lewan (December 2013)
A.J. Williams (October 27, 2013)
Fitzgerald Toussaint (July 21, 2012)
Frank Clark (June 2012)
Will Campbell (April 7, 2012)
Josh Furman (February 11, 2012)
Darryl Stonum (January 6, 2012)
Darryl Stonum (January 5, 2012)
Marvin Robinson (November 2011)
Darryl Stonum (May 6, 2011)

Or if you want to make program comparisons ,  we can look at this guy's research from 2015.  I'm sure the last year would put MSU on the list,  but please get off your ivory tower.

Are you seriously having this discussion?  You are talking about a culture at Michigan State and have a football coach that has been there 12 years and a basketball coach that has been there 22 years.   Please take a loot at your program over that same time period.

Ingham County ex-prosecutor Stuart "Hide-my-prostitutes" Dunning III? The one who helped State sweep things under the rug because he was so good at doing the same thing involving his own personal "habit". Sure you have. Even if you are in denial like so many other Sparties.

You do reazlize who the ingham county prosecutor from 1996 through a year or two ago was Stuart Dunnings, Jr.

Dunnings was an avid Michigna fan (has season tickets to M football / basketball),  as well as a graduate from Michigan.  He had a reputation of being harder on athletes than normal prosecutors because of his bias.  This doesn't fit your narrative,  but unfortunately these are facts.

The fan favorite of Michigan State wrote this in 2015:

Another example of someone covering their ears when provided facts.

I'm having a debate by myself against your entire board and this is the best you can respond with?   Come on, don't let me win this easy.

Your own article says this:

Note: MSU police redacted all names from police reports; therefore, it's not possible to accurately determine the total number of athletes or crimes. ESPN sued the university over the omissions and won, but the case is pending on appeal. The incidents not prosecuted or dropped category includes cases that were pleaded down to civil infractions, most often littering.

Secondly, I doubt anyone here is going to defend Dunnings given the conviction and a lot of other allegations around him. Not exactly the best evidence to support your contention.

ARE aware of Stuart Dunnings. And while Dunnings is a U of M Grad and it's safe to assume a Michigan fan, his reputation for being harder on athletes doesn't match up with the facts. Bottom line is, there's a long history of Dunnings NOT doing his job when it took time away from his addiction to prostitutes. He was too busy covering his own tracks to be able to devote proper attention to the crimes happening all around him, including the criminal sexual assaults by not just Larry Nassar but also by Spartan athletes.
