The only thing I can imagine is that Harbaugh is trying to get a sort of "think tank" going -- the more bodies you have swimming in the tank, the better your chance to score.

Pros: His Alabama offenses were 7th, 1st, 4th, and 3rd in S&P and won 2 National Championships, and he improved Colorado State's offenses from 114th to 65th to 33rd in S&P in each year.
Cons: Had all the talent in the world at Bama and was a total, complete, utter, hilarious disaster at Florida (with no sense of humor and potentially questionable morals/transparency).
I think the man knows something about offense. He was Saban's OC for the beginning of the Alabama Death Star and then he steadily resurrected CSU's offense (with much less talent) from bottom 20 to top 35. What do you say about someone applying for a position coach position that has two really solid things on his resume and then also a giant grease fire?

I tend to agree. Potentially a very good position coach hire. The man has built objectively good offenses at two different schools and played QB in the FCS. He should obviously not be a HC of a major program, but I think it's recency bias to say that he'd be a bad hire for an assistant.

Sometimes I feel like people view his Florida tenure unfairly. They weren't great, but the dude won his division two of his three years. Not a great divison, but still.
