The academic standards should be the same for every school in the big ten. Sheffield flunks out of Alabama of all places and blam one year later he waltzes right into osu slick as you please. The admission office puts Michigan at a disadvantage and if we have shoty safety play that is where to point. Why should Michigan's admissions for football players be any different than anyone else in the big ten?.

It is a complete disadvantage and admissions should be standardized. Truth be told, without even looking it up, I hardly doubt there are many collegiate football players who went on to become neuro surgeons.

Here's the new standard for top 100 players. If he received at least one C in high school or a university in which they are transferring from they are in. Of course if you want to keep giving advantages to osu, then don't ever bitch about losing to them. It would not surprise me if they had kids that are borderline illiterate.

Standerdized admissions throughout the big ten. Whether they are tougher or easier I don't care, but there are several teams that have a unfair disadvantage and they use it. Look at the recruiting at osu. Good football players but they all need a fall guy. Don't even get me started with alabama. Have you ever heard derrick henry speak. Alabama should flat out be embarrassed. That''s your Heisman trophy winner. Would love to see his transcripts.

It's unclear to me if this specific case is due to Michigan's or the Big Ten's standards (Big Ten eligibility rules require players to make consistent progress toward their degrees) but given that we were able to sign top 10 recruiting classes in '16 and '17, the fact that the occasional football player can't get admitted isn't really crippling us, and allows us to maintain a bit of dignity.  I'm OK with it.

this is the thing that people always say, yet they turn around and bitch about the fact that ohio state and some schools down south continue to get players over michigan. going to school to get your degree at michigan is going to be tough, to be a high level football player on top of that is extremely tough.

But I'm not as down as everyone else. Metellus was good down the stretch minus OSU. He had some bad plays that cost us that game, but he was a true sophomore starting for the first time. Give him another year to develop, plus potential emergences of Woods/JKP and we'll be fine at safety next year.

Unacceptable. Admissions department is a joke. Denard didn’t know how to tie his shoes and they let him in, Anderson can’t be worse than that.
