ITT: Reasons why we hate Ohio State

It’s that time of the year again. Post below why you hate the Buckeyes.

I feel like there is always a pregame fight? Y'all think this happens this time or during the game? I hope we keep our cool. I could see Mikey getting out of hand if he gets frustrated.

They automatically get the 10 best players in a football rich state, then get to go seek out the best 15 players the can get nationally.

Meanwhile we have to fight with MSU for the 3 to 5 best players in a far less football rich state and try to build the rest every year.

That gets old on me. Makes me want to be a triple option team with the best athletes we can find and see if we can do what Navy does(fuck everybody on prep time) and upset giants with trickery.

I once went to school in Ohio. I have actually watched non-Michigan-Ohio State games at Ohio Stadium.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. My late mother was born there. And I have relatives who've lived their whole lives there.

But I've always been a Michigan fan. And at a certain point, you finally come to your true senses and put away childish things. You don't need a reason to hate the Buckeyes. It's just natural.

I was at UM during the 2-10-1 Cooper stretch so didn't think much of the rivalry other than the trash they talked and couldn't back up.  Since then it's probably more a jealousy/envy for the success they have had since....but for the fact that they use less than savory recruiting practices, tried to cover up a scandal, hired a coach with skeletons and even then the fanbase doesn't appreciate that sucess.

So it probably comes down to Fuck Them just because.

maybe up there alone with the Yankees. When was the last time Ohio State was legitimately bad? Other than Luke Fickell ruining one year, the last time they were sub-.500 was going 4-6-1 in 1988. Last time they had conseuctive losing seasons appears to be 1923-1924. Every other major college football team is endured some major pain over the last few decades except for these entitled mouthbreathers.

My list:

  • Meyer is a great coach, but he's also slimy. I'd be surprised if he didn't include Harbaugh and NFL in the same sentence very often with recruits.
  • They're slimier than UMich. This is a competitive advantage.
  • They act as though Michigan is, at baseline, no better than Northwestern. They consider the RichRod and Hoke years as normal for UMich.

Can't really say I *hate* them, though. The school is very good, but it's inferior to UMich almost across the board. Also, Ohio has been partly a hillbilly state since its founding. (Michigan isn't unless you count transplants.) It's hard to hate hillbillies.

1) They beat us every year
2) The rural, uneducated, racist, belligerent, white trash segment of their fan base. The fans that think that “fuck Michigan” or “fuck harbaugh” are clever verbal attacks on Michigan fans. The fans that you hear about in the horror stories of Michigan fans being assaulted, spit on, beer spilled on, cars vandalized.
3) Columbus smells like poop.

Bags o crap.  Have grown to detest everything ohio state since Bo was squaring off with that nut job Woody.  Hate seeing their fans at airports.  Hate seeing their fans all painted at opposing stadiums.  The sight of their colors makes me want to vomit.

First the big10 championship making The Game the second to last game, then playing after Thanksgiving, and now this.

Watching USC and UCLA battle in their classic uniforms last week is what college football is all about. The rest is all a money grab and what makes college fottball better than the NFL.

Heights.

Blocking out M’s everywhere, pouring beer on old ladies, vandalism, vitriol public expressions, and...

Rewarding their players with those fucking stupid GOLD PANTS every time they beat us.

I detest them.

Where do I start?

1) Because they have no idea how good they have it. Literally every other program has had a period of down years. Not just one blip on the radar, but several down years in a row that they've had to come back from. Michigan, ND, Texas, Alabama, USC, Florida, FSU, everyone. Everyone except fucking OSU.

2) Because they endured a scandal which saw them lose one of their all-time best coaches, had one meh season where they still made a bowl game, and then somehow one of the best coaches of all time just happened to be taking a sabbatical at the same time they're undergoing a transition, and he just falls right into their lap. Most scandals like that set a program back several years. But with OSU, Tressel being outed was probably the best thing that could've ever happened to them. They lose an all-time great and somehow luck their way into getting someone even better.

3) Because they seemingly get all the breaks every single year. All the breaks, all the luck, all the anything and everything they need. Everything breaks exactly the way it needs to for them.

4) No instate competition in a ridiculously talent-rich state. Just makes things that much easier for them.

5) They largely don't even appreciate the success they've had, and in many cases even take it for granted. When Meyer loses one game, they're all up in arms about how it's the damn apocalypse and life has lost all meaning. I'd give my left nut for Michigan to have even half the success they've had over the last 15 years. If they have a 6-6 season at this point I think it's fair to assume there will be full-scale riots in Columbus.

6) They have zero respect for Michigan or the rivalry as a whole. At least your OSU fans who've grown up in the post-Cooper years. Not that they have any reason to respect Michigan. But we define beating them as our whole season. They look at us, no matter what year it is, and see us as a tune-up for a postseason run. I want nothing more than to just ruin a season for them that matters. It's about getting our respect and dignity back.

And we've had some painful, very close games against them in the past 15 years -- sure, some blowouts, too, but the blowouts during the RichRod years were somehow easier on the soul. We weren't all that surprised, were we, at the results in the 2008 and 2009 games, for example?

You'd think that one of those close games, though, just ONE, would have gone our way.

But no.

I hate them, because it's become a Thanksgiving tradition to lose to them. Eat turkey, lose to Ohio State, and then put up the Christmas tree.

I'll be at the game this Saturday. I haven't missed a Michigan-Ohio State game in Ann Arbor since 2001. (Shit, maybe I'm the bad luck here?) But the days on which I've gone to UM-OSU games in the past 15 years genuinely excited about the possible outcome have been very few indeed. Most times, it's been "ok, let's just get this over with." I'm tired of feeling that way. I thought under Harbaugh, things would be different. I still think they CAN be, but I just hope it's sooner than later.

Because they beat us every year, and have more success over the last 15 years than us. They win way more big games than they lose. The main reason I hate them though is bc of their blatant arrogance as a team and a fan base. Their fans are insufferable and I can’t stand them. I hate the buckeyes so much that I find it really difficult to watch THE GAME. We have to change this fucking pattern of constantly losing to them.

I honestly still don't understand how a team that loses to Purdue puts up 55 on the Buckeyes.

For perspective, the last time we put up that many points, or more, on Ohio State was in 1946, when we put up 58. (WD can check my math here).

Another interesting stat: OSU likes to score 42 points against us. They've put up 42 exactly in 3 out of the last 4 games, and have done so 5 times since 2006. So hey, we just need to score 43 this year. Problem solved.

I work with a bunch of them. All through the Cooper years, I barely heard a peep out of them as loss mounted upon loss. Nor did I troll them. Since Tressel turned things around, they are loud, obnoxious and persistent. Not all of them. But most.

1. They have a perenial top 10 team.

2. They hire Tressel, he promises a win and delivers

3. Tressel beat us annually.

4. Tressel leaves, they hire Urban Meyer

5. Urban beats us annually.

6. 2006, UM #2 OSU #1, they beat us.

7. elevenwarriors.com

8. Ugh.

It really sucks.
It doesn't make any sense, plus musically the melody is a train wreck that derails, re-rails, slows down and speeds up and no one understands why.
Fucking dumb,

Listen, there are bad fans are everywhere. I have been to that hole you call a city a ton of times. Last time I went your students threw marshmallows at my family with nails in them. How classy?!? So stop acting like angels. You guys are just bitter because you think you got your savior in Harbaugh and you still suck.

I don't know about marshmallows with nails in them, but we did have a thirty-something year old UM fan crush a hamburger on the back of my wife's head in Ann Arbor in 2015. Some nearby UM fans apologized and tried to help clean up, which was kind. During the game, also had a younger UM fan (possibly a student) come up and tell my wife he'd fuck her if she wasn't a slutty Buckeye fan. The point is that every fanbase has idiot/disgusting people. Let's all just be thankful we aren't Penn State fans, who are the worst I've ever encountered:
