The hell does Wiltfong know?

he has Ekiyor going to Bama now.  A recent crystal ball as of tonight.  I know Sam said last week that he expects the good guys to be ahead in his recruitment even after his official visit to Tuscaloosa.

...but Harbaugh identifying talent early that UofM eventually loses to Bama! bodes well for the Olines that he will build in the future.

Here's hoping Drevno gets a great head coaching gig this year :)

you know what a dick you sound like? you are nothing but a casual observer that is repeating what others say. so what you really are saying is harbaugh is a horrible coach ,who cant recruit for shit and made terrible asst. coach hires. that is the only way you would end up with what you call a "garbage offensive line after 3 years of coaching.

Don't forget Filiaga and maybe we get Newsome back too. Like Brian has said, that Newsome injury was to the one guy we couldn't afford to lose and we lost him for two years. This OL is a completely different animal if Newsome is the LT this year. Maybe not a great OL but certainly better than what we have now.

Exactly. Many of these kids are just so fascinated with how dominate Alabama looks and they want to join the bandwagon and be a part of that machine, instead of going up against it.

That's why Alabama has had so many #1 recruiting classes in recent years.

A lot of top recruits only turn down Bama because of the depth chart, but Alabama has already told Ekiyor that he'll have a good chance of playing some at center next season and soon possibly be their future starting center.

We kinda have Ruiz projected as our future center.

i didn`t know you had anything invested in it. you have no clue on the abilities of any of these players, so how would you know if it was "shaping" up, good or bad?

What about Bredeson, Onwenu, Chuck Filiaga, Cesar Ruiz? Those are impact OL we signed. Problem is instant impact OL are few and far between. When was the last time you saw a true frosh OL dominate? Seriously, I'd love to know. It's just not an instant impact position. Of course we'd all like to land the players we need every year and have them all be studs from day one, but that's not how it works.

But go ahead, jump off a cliff.

edit: Oh, don't forget about Grant Newsome. He was an elite OL recruit too. Sadly he was one of the few guys we couldn't afford to lose.

And Steve Lorenz just followed suit. Still a long way until Signing Day. We know we're 1a/1b with Bama.

Let's just win the CFP this year, and that'll settle who deserves to have Ekiyor.

There's always been smoke with this one. Not signed in ink but it won't be surprising. I hope they have solid plan B guys. Also, plenty of smoke about Reese ending up at Georgia.

It was mentioned in one of the recruiting articles or maybe the podcast, but taking the top player out of GA two years in a row just wasn't gonna happen. I know it sucks losing out on guys but to at least be consistently in it with a ton of elite players year after year means we've come a long way from the Hoke era.

We need stout, fiery OL like Emil. I have changed my stance on Drevno (not that it matters), but his failure with the OL for the 3rd yr and inability to recruit elite OL are below expectations for a guy earning $1m per year. Losing this commit would further erode his status.

We still have guys like Filiaga and Stueber (who the staff seem to be very high on) that have yet to play and don't forget about Cesar Ruiz, who was absolutely an elite recruit. OL don't all come in and play at high levels, usually need a couple years of learning and bulking up before they can be Alabama level. Harbaugh is building up the depth but it does not happen overnight, sadly. He's really only had TWO recruiting classes, give it time. He's had back to back 10-win seasons (only the second Michigan coach to start a career that way) with less than stellar OL play, sky ain't falling yet.

We've gotten the D to the point where we can lose almost everyone and reload like nothing happened, the OL and offense in general, isn't there yet. Drevno has a track record of doing very good things with OL, but you're right at this point he hasn't really earned his money. That said, Harbaugh isn't Hoke. If a move needs to be made to better the team I think he'd make it. He added Greg Frey this offseason to help with the OL and we can't really judge him on just four games.

The fucking sky is always falling with some of you guys. We are fighting for the very best recruits. If he goes Harbaugh will find another. Top ten classes every year are a good thing.

Tough to compete with Bama and it's very tough to pull elite kids out of the south. Landing Solomon was a major coup, we can't expect that to happen every year (Reese).

To be honest I don't blame Emil, our OL does not look good and has not developed well. Why would a kid want to come play for what appears to be a sub-par OL coach? Especially when Bama consistently has dominant OL and they send a ton of guys to the NFL.
