Either way, Simpson is my pick for breakout star for this year's bball team. I know Simmons came in and MAAR is still there to block his minutes, but I think Simpon's combination of elite quickness, strength and defensive effort will be utilized in a big way.
Beilein teams always have a go-to lead guard, and Simpson has the ability to create off the bounce in the pick and roll that JB will absolutely use. He'll remain a distributor primarily, but he's going to be an integral part of the team this year. I think he'll be a guy averaging more than 5 assists per game, hitting his open 3's, and scoring at the rim (especially in the fast break). Simmons and MAAR are both score first guys, and Mo is the best player on the team, so having a distributor work the PnR with him is better than using below average passers.
