OT: Mike Valenti Auditioning for WFAN Job This Week, Might Leave Detroit
97.1's Mike Valenti is doing an on-air audition at WFAN in New York this week, looking to replace Mike Francesca. He's on the air today, Thursday and Friday.
Please God, make it so.

lol
This Mike Valenti on Wfan needs to go back to Detroit, this guy is awful

On twitter about his performance love him.
Who is this jerkoff on WFAN with @JoeandEvan

Because I can find a positive post for every negative one on twitter.
the sad, sad platform on which people think the voice of a few is the voice of many. It pains me everytime I see an article by a lazy journalist to the effect of "The internet hates puppies" and then screengrabs two people saying they hate puppies on twitter as if it's somehow representative of some larger group sentiment.
As a market researcher, few things bother me more.
A New York friend who's listening to WFAN just texted me: "Valenti makes Chris Christie sound good."

Nice joindate.
They would need to find someone like Dery for the mid-day show that loves Detroit and has the ability.
No thanks. That time has passed.
Stoney and Wojo was the best Detroit sports talk show of all time. Even with WDFN's crappy signal, they used to kill 1270/97.1 in the ratings. The great thing about that show was that they were pro's and had interviews, unlike Valenti who just spews all kinds of hatred towards everyone and yet never has the balls to interview them. He's basically a shock-jock who ripped his shtick from Jeff Moss and the DetroitSportRag. Which isn't really surprising since he tried to get a job with them back in the day.... http://detroitsportsrag.com/mike-valenti-wanted-a-gig-at-the-detroitsportsrag-com/
Are you Jeff Moss? Seriously, the fact that Moss thinks that is embarassing
I am done with Pro Athletes interviews....they are so canned and fake...nothing to learn
I don't know, Valenti and Foster were killing it when they got moved from middays to afternoons. I remember flipping back and forth between the two stations and while Mike and Terry were breaking down matchups in the NBA playoffs, Stoney and Wojo were taking votes on on a favorite potato chip tournament bracket or something stupid like that. I love Stoney, but he's better suited for the morning.
What about WEEI?
Amen.
Classic rant.
"AGAIN!"
Valenti, I get why people dislike him, but Pat Caputo and Huge are awful to listen to.
wait?
Drive up property value in the neighborhood. Can't have potential buyers know that a Sparty slappy lived there. it's like trying to sell a house a homicide was committed in.
Pucker! Pucker! Pucker! I wouldn't miss him one bit.
All he wants to do is talk hockey...at the tail end of 105.1, I loved their morning show (loved Mark), but Sean couldn't not talk hockey...he talked MINOR LEAGUE HOCKEY.
Not suprised. He never liked it here anyways.
since no one there cares about MSU football / basketball -- except when they are playing NY metropolitan area favorites Rutgers of course. /s
Anything to get him out of the area....
/no religion
Because I was incredibly curious hearing the main voice of Detroit sports do another network.
He definitely would fit in well there. Again, I know people don't want to hear this because of facts and all, but he knows a shit ton about sports. The history, structure of teams, every freaking owner and component of nearly every team.
Hate him all you want, and a lot of you do, but to deny that he's one of the best we have in terms of talent is stupid. If he does leave, the ticket is going to have a serious decision about how to replace him. Because if they get it wrong, that station could lose a lot of listeners.
His wife does not want to leave Michigan.
He loves college sports a ton more than the pros. There is not a college scene to be had in NY. I think this time of year is tough on him, but he lives for college football around here.
I thought he wouldn't make the move because his wife doesn't want to leave California and his heart is in the pros...
Any word on what Jed York or Trent Baalke are saying?
Nothing new. He's not going anywhere. Big fish/little pond syndrome.
If anything, his agent will use this to milk a bigger payday from 97.1.
Getting the opportunity to be on the biggest radio show in New York? This is an opportunity that he has never had before. Francesa has been on that air forever.
Maybe he can take his new partner Mike Sulley, who is a winey little bitch who is hard to listen too !
Valenti is the worst kind of sports radio - the conversation is just him yelling at Terry or yelling at callers. Even First Take makes more sense than Valenti does when going on an anti-Michigan tirade. He wouldn't be missed but he isn't going anywhere. He has filled in on WFAN before. Without the Michigan/MSU crutch, he would lose half his shtick.
Why some people keep saying this.
Fine, he's filled in before.
This is a job OPENING from the biggest radio host, in basically the entire country. He's auditioning for the role, he's not just flying out to be a fill-in.
