I don't know specific details, but there's been some smoke over the years about Duke guys getting fixed up with nice vehicles and such, and they're not unwilling to do business with sketchy AAU coaches that Beilein and many others avoid.  They'll battle slimy programs like Kansas for recruits - and come out on top.

You're obviously entitled to your opinion. I'm just curious as to why you deem Krzyzewski an arrogant asshole. Knight would throw tangents and hurl chairs across the gym. I get that one. Krzyzewski hasn't done any of that to my knowledge. All coaches lose their cool and get T'd up every now and again - heck, even Beilein. What makes Coach K different? So far from reading this thread, I've gotten that people hate him because he looks like a beady eyed rat, he runs a dirty program, and he's an arrogant asshole, yet have no real proof or reasoning behind it.

Fuck that guy.

Watch the Fab Five documentary. When Duke beats Michigan in '91 final, Ratface goes on and on about "teamwork prevailing over a bunch of individuals". Yeah, that's what it was, and not a 1 seed loaded with upperclassmen(in a time where leaving early was a lot rarer) vs. a 6 seed starting all freshmen.

So where was that great teamwork the next year when Duke lost in the second round and Michigan, with another year of experience, cruised to the championship game again?

Whenever his teams win, he'll be the first to play into the "Leader of Men" bullshit, and whenver his teams lose, he's always the first to throw them under the bus.

Pitino:Bad guy Calipari: Bad guy (too bad Wichita couldn't knock them out) Izzo: Not a bad guy. Whines a lot though. Coach B respects him a lot. Coach K: Respect for what he has done for USA basketball. I'm not so sure he is squeaky clean though. That being said, I like seeing all 4 lose.

Izzo might be annoying on the court but people I know who have met him say he's a pretty cool guy. Ratface Kryewswszswkski seems like he puts on an act. Most of his players act like dickheads and they have to get that from somewhere.

Calipari is at the top of my list and I can't wait for him to lose.  Guy is as dirty as they come and smug along with it.

As for Coach K, he is hard to figure out.  He comes across as respectable and has the career to match that.  But there are a lot of stories out there about him being a huge A-hole.  Every now and then you see that shine through - like when he chewed out that kid last year and when he only suspended Grayson Allen for one game when they started losing.  Remember, he is a Bob Knight disciple.  He also has won so much and has his own kingdom, which can lead to him thinking rules don't apply to him.

The only problem I have with Izzo is 1. His tantrums 2. Blaming poor seasons LITERALLY every other year on "injuries". Other than that I've heard he's a great guy.

I used to like Pitino (immediate family member's hs teammate played for his VERY EARLY ON in his career). But, Pitino honestly has just lost it ethically IMO. It's sad. I've always thought his interviews are pretty damn charismatic, but I just can't believe him scandal after scandal.

I really don't like

1. Coach Cal - Whiner, questionable recruiting (big time).

2. Bill Self - Talented teams year after year, but his offense is the worst product I've seen. ISO ISO ISO.

I may actually like Izzo, IF 1. He was expressionless, OR 2. Had a big Blue Dot over his face every game like televised broadcast coverage of victims, 3. stayed of the Basketball court during games, 4. Never spoke post game, ever, 5. Renamed his son.

Grayson Allen, Kyle Singler, Bobby Hurley, Christian Laettner, Greg Paulus, Shane Battier, Wojo, JJ Redick

Anybody that coaches all those pricks is no friend of mine.

Coach B-line train and ride this thing to the end of his career here at UM. Sure he will have some of  "Those years" but it's not easy to win doing it the right way with integrity. When your opponents are giving cars, cash, cleavage and whatever away to get the best players as in talent. The part Coach B has right is getting/recruiting the right guys as in kids who understand the importance of hard work and being team players as in The Team, The Team, The Team.

Have you ever seen a team that  honestly loves one another like this one. These guys are so happy playing together as well as just being together off the court, they don't want this season to ever end. That IS team chemistry that allows the guys to play above what they have been told is their limit. I have seen winning locker rooms and then I saw that winning locker room that was one of the happiest group of guys. They will never forget this and no matter what they win in their future endeavours this may be the happiest they will ever be.

Thank you.  Now, look at the talent on Duke's team and look at the talent level on this Michigan team.  No comparion and yet Michigan is still playing while Duke is going home.  We can criticize his recruiting and honestly I have been disappointed with that aspect but give him some medium talent and he can mold it into a bunch of dangerous players.

It's become such a popular take to say Calipari is somehow fine because he's the only one to recognize college sports as a business with his one-and-done model.

Fuck that. The dude has been nailed for cheating everywhere he's been (UMass in the 90s, Memphis in the '00s). He helped Derrick Rose, who may be functionally illiterate, to fake a test score so that he would be eligible. What is that teaching kids?

The NCAA's amateurism rules may be stupid, but that doesn't mean that it's justified to break them wholesale. Guys like Calipari screw over coaches and teams that actually try to get their players an education, like Beilein and Michigan.

These poor young men that just want to be something and get into the NBA, see going to play for some of these guys as the only path. Sadly true for them, there are so many other options. I think after having matured and been around the block or two in their late 20's or into their 30's, a huge amount realize that if they had to go back and do it again that they wouldn't play for these assholes. Great examples of opposites are John Beilein and Jim Harbaugh. These two never embarrass you in front of thousands of people and the millions on live television except like a Kyle Kalis situation where he got his ass chewed. That bone head needed it there. Every time I watch Pitino, Roy Williams, Urban, Saban, Izzo, Brian Kelly or any of the similar pricks like them, I feel sorry for those young guys and having to put up with those clowns. Don't get me wrong, they are all good strategic coaches but just really pathetic assholes. I emphasize pathetic because they will never figure out that being a complete prick isn't needed to get your point across.
