Nah, a lot of us never applied to MSU.

Ira actually cited the joke on the WTKA morning show today, talking about the Dakich incident, and he used the version I posted above.
February 15th, 2017 at 3:41 PM ^
I didn't even apply to State and I still got in.

Izzo is publicly demanding that a member of the media apologize for making a tweet, interestingly enough, about how whiny MSU is....

February 15th, 2017 at 7:49 AM ^
You mean like how Michigan has demanded that Jemele Hill apologize for all the stupid shit she says? oh wait.... MSU really is the worst of the worst
February 15th, 2017 at 9:20 AM ^
I actually think it was a dumb thing for Dakich to tweet out and I have no problem with Izzo sticking up for his school.
February 15th, 2017 at 9:28 AM ^
It's a self-own. Dakich calls Izzo a whiner, and Izzo . . . whines about it.

think it is actually called the Izzone though. There may have even been a dedication. It has been that for like 20 years.
February 15th, 2017 at 9:25 AM ^
I guess I'm stepping in shit all over the place today but I think the only student section that was original was Cameron Crazies and if you're copying Dook it's dumb.
February 15th, 2017 at 9:09 AM ^
Agree that "Maize Rage" is pretty bad. It really should be Maize Craze, but I think we already used that for freshman welcome week, or orientation - one of those.
Still, naming the student section after the coach seems a little tacky.
February 15th, 2017 at 9:40 AM ^
Neither of those are good or creative. They should learn from the football ones of the past where there is a distinct personality about it. But yes, naming it after the coach is tacky. When he is gone are they still going to call it that? Seems like that could get uncomfortable during a losing streak.

They like doing that. They once named their football student section "Bobby's World" after Bobby Williams.

In fairness, Izzo's not wrong. Dakich probably crossed a line there. And it's a bit short-sighted to alienate an entire fanbase for a twitter jab.
In fairness also, Dakich isn't wrong either. So I call it a tie.
(And yeah, it is hilarious to hear Izzo whine about being called a whiner.)
February 15th, 2017 at 10:36 AM ^
My God, in a fight between those two it's impossible to root for either one.
February 15th, 2017 at 7:47 AM ^
I see how Izzo skipped the part of all the MSU fans attacking Dans kid.
Tom is a whiny troll

white. Gross.
February 15th, 2017 at 7:56 AM ^
Is anyone from MSU going to apologize for the students chanting "Fuck Jim Harbaugh" about 6 times during the game last fall? No? But Izzo wants a public apology for something an announcer said on Twitter, oh and the comment was actually true albeit rude? There is a severe little man complex going on in EL all the way from the President to the Janitors. They'll get their time on the front page news here REAL soon.
February 15th, 2017 at 9:44 AM ^
How about his Izzone and the entire basketball stadium chanting "little sister" in EL, more than a little misogynistic.
February 15th, 2017 at 10:09 AM ^
February 15th, 2017 at 12:21 PM ^
How do you mean? Don't we chant "little brother" if anything? Shouldn't even do that, but don't ever remember hearing little sister chants.
But that's between MSU and UofM, and really outside this conversation. Izzo is taking offense to Dakich and invoking the correct response of the Izzone chanting at him, and demanding an apology. If apologies are needed for offensive things being said on Dakich's part, then apologies are also required for offensive things said on the Izzone's part. Pot calling the kettle black and all that

i'm not going to watch video, because fuck that guy, but good god, what a twatwaffle.
he just whined, at the podium, about people calling sparty whiners. QED, motherfucker.

Let's see, athletic program facing a horrible scandal or two... Hey look at that mean ol' ESPN commentator being mean.

February 15th, 2017 at 8:20 AM ^
The "can't get into college, go to state?" thing is so 1985. Pretty unprofessional of Dakich, and it will probably cost him games on ESPN (and probably $$) so not the brightest move on his part.
The fact that it triggered an MSU student section meltdown and subsequent Izzo petty little brother rant is a wonderful silver lining, however. Anything to get under the angry elf's skin is gold, Jerry. GOLD!
February 15th, 2017 at 8:39 AM ^
this isn't Curt Schilling level absurdity. Just because Izzo whined about it out loud at a post-game presser, doesn't make it a big deal. I doubt it will cost him money or any games, it shouldn't. Jemele Hill is constantly trolling Michigan and the fanbase and she has never once been fined for it by ESPN. Amin Elhassan (ESPN employee) insulted the son of a WWE star that is reported to be on the autism spectrum. I didn't hear of a fine or anything coming of that (he "apologized"). So if you can take shots at a kid with a suspected disability and not get fined, I don't see how you can get fined for calling a coach and it's fanbase cry babies.
February 15th, 2017 at 8:49 AM ^
I wasn't suggesting he would or should get "fined". My point was that he probably won't do another MSU game, which could cost him money - these guys generally get paid per game that they broadcast. Jemele Hill is a commentator, not a play-by-play or color analyst, so although she pisses me off, she wouldn't likely get fined for her opinions, stupid as they are.
