Positive Najee Harris Rumors from Michigan/USC 247 Board

Submitted by Caesar on

Hello folks,

Someone named Free Kobe, who has allegedly been info-solid since just after Pete Carroll's time at USC, says that signs favor Michigan, especially insofar as they don't look good for other teams:

  • That cal was closer than people realize due to a cal coach that has known family forever
  • Mom wants no part of her boy in the Deep South
  • Family wants him to get away from Nocal
  • USC and Michigan coaches have done a great job of recruiting him including having chance airport meetings with him
  • USC coach thinks he can pull both Carr and Harris but Carr 7on7 coach says no way in hell would Carr stick with USC in that scenario
  • Alabama returns everybody and Harris sees himself as three and out
  • He is better than anyone Michigan has now and Michigan will give him the ball 30 times a game
  • Been hearing Michigan for almost three weeks
  • Take it for what it's worth.

At long last, something to replace all the glory and tradition of the Greater Elk Grove Lawn Darts Championship. Truck Driving like in that GIF would definitely be an upgrade and I am not ashamed to admit that I would watch it too. An elimination tournament would be great...or potentially very Mad Max. No, that would be awesome too.

playing for and almost certainly winning a national championship, high likelihood of being drafted in the first round, and a likely invitation to New York for the Heisman trophy.  Even if highly rated RBs aren't actually good (cough Trent Richardson cough), at Bama they'll run between holes so large and rack up so many yards, no one will know how good they actually are until they get to the NFL anyway.

Wiltfong saying Filiaga trending to Oklahoma. Is this new, or is this from yesterday? I think I read last night that Wiltfong has changed his mind, and that we look like we're in good shape.

I hope Wiltfong didn't reverse course AGAIN.

And I thought last years class couldn't get any more stressful.

Edit: Got the answer already. Still good news. Needs to stay good news.

This would definitely help mitigate a young and inexperienced oline next year. Think of how improved the play action pass game will be with Najee fucking Harris in the backfield. Also, if he is three years and out, he will get to play behind one hell of an oline in '18/'19.

If we get Harris and this is the intention of the coaching staff, then goodbye Samuels and probably one or two RBs already on the roster.

I'm a bit skeptical that Harbaugh or anybody else on the staff is promising Harris any such thing, though—it would seem to run counter to the entire coaching philosophy of Harbaugh, which is that every minute of playing time has to be earned with actual performance. Nothing is promised in advance.

He also has to be able to pass block. That said I can't see him getting many touches with Scarbrough and Damien Harris in front of him. Not right away anyway. Not that Najee isn't a potential beast but Scarbrough looks like a Derrick Henry clone. Additionally, not that I take what is mentioned in the OP as gospel but I would completely believe the part about his mom wanting him to stay out of the South. I get a Southern boy enjoying the experience of playing in the South but someone from Northern California? The most liberal place in the country. That just seems like an odd fit.

I'd actually be surprised if Najee beat out Evans next year for the #1 spot. If you had no clue what anyone's star rating was coming in, Evans would sure look like an omg 5* HS prospect who was coming in with limit snaps and looked extremely promising in doing so, prepping for his upcoming role as the feature back for 2-3 years

for a feature back.  Great chance of pace guy, but can't see him pounding it between the tackles repeatedly and putting him in short yardage situations, pass blocking, etc.  Probably not a high volume, every down back.  I wouldn't complain of course if that's what he is, but Walker, Higdon and hopefully Harris will need to play a lot of snaps next year.

I think that is more hyperbole than a specific demand or promise. I feel like that's an implication that Harris believes he can be the bell cow pretty quick. Harbaugh isn't going to promise anyone the ability to skip competition; Harris is just in the mind that he's a head above the competition. Chris Evans isn't going anywhere from this offense. Whoever else plays well will get their shot as well.
