I wasn't impressed with his high school tape, doesn't look like anything we don't already have. Unless he takes a huge leap I don't think he's gonna be any higher than #4 on the depth chart. We will still have three of the four-headed monster of this year in Evans, Isaac and Higdon. I think we're gonna see Evans/Higdon as the main backs and Isaac et al after that.

6th/Dr Johnson, Isaac, Shallman, Higdon, Evans, K. Davis, K, Walker, K Taylor, AJ Dillon, O Samuels, by seniority.
Good is that Walker has been practicing with the team as redshirt year.
But as mentioned above, whoever can stone blitzing linebackers will probably get the job.
Trying also to think of most notable 5 OL..Dawson, Onwenu, Cole, Kugler, Bredeson in no order. I don't think Newsome is going to play in 2017. In my opinion it will be 2018 before we know if he can potentially come back. Terrible loss, there.

It's definitely a crowd when you put Shallman on there. Some high grade shit you got there.

After what I have seen from the spring, I do not expect Walker to ever be a big contributor at Michigan. He may have some spot carrier, but he does not have the burst nore the power to be big time.

Ok "ghost"....lets talk in 4 years and see which one of us is right about his playing career. He does not have the burst or top end to be a significant contributor at RB. His frame is not one that would make him a viable power back either. In addition, there are academic/discipline issues which he has reportedly already had already.
These factors, along with your attitude has caused me to bookmark this thread, and making note of your dumbass avatar and user name for future reference.

My track record with Michigan RB recruits is very good:
1) I was one of the very few who saw Derrick Green's HS tape and called him as way overrated and a probable bust. I was correct.
2) I was one of the very few who saw Karan Higdon's tape and praised him for his feet, burst and vision as a potential RB starter. Looks like I am right on that one too.
3) I called Kevin Grady as a probable bust based on his HS tape. Score again.
4) I praised Drake Johnson as a potential contributor and raised the question repeatedly as to why Hoke had him buried on the depth chart. I was proven correct when a then- healthy Drake was forced in to action, and suddenly the Michigan ground game started working late in the season in 2014.
5) I was one of the very few here who questioned Hoke for burying Thomas Rawls on the depth chart. I am being proven correct again with Rawls sucess at CMU and as an NFL starter.
All of this is documented here by my posts at MGoBlog. I stand by my record of evaluating RBs by examining their tapes and picking out their strengths and weaknesses.
My take on Kareem is that he will ultimately be a 4 star minimal to non-contributor during his career at Michigan. Next year for example, he will be no better than 4th or 5th on the depth chart at best. Based on his tape and academic concerns, is very doubtful that he will rise much above that level. He is probably a nice kid, but as a RB he is limited in potential. OSU saw that and soured on him as well.

Does anyone else agree we need someone to take the starting job with authority? Rotating backs constantly was fine grinding out the clock against overmatched teams, but it really hurt us not having a go-to/dominant back in our toughest games.

I'd rather have 2-3 guys I can count on in crunch time. Everyone stays fresh and you don't worry about riding one guy too much. Yes, having a feature back is great, but you need guys to spell him.

Richardson had Lacy. Lacy had Yeldon. Yeldon had Henry. Henry had Harris/Scarborough. My point is you shouldn't have to do it all alone.

I do think that Smith and Evans were Michigan's best RBs and that they should have been the primary RBs all season. Instead, it seems that Isaac, Higdon and Peppers were given carries at the expense of Smith and Evans. This wasn't a problem against Rutgers and Illinois, but it was against Iowa and OSU.

Kareem Walker will be wherever meritocracy says he should be.

Well first of all unless there was ever some official word of it I missed, or you're basing that on something more than your own assumption or misinterpretation of what's been said publicly, I don't think he was ever ineligible. It was just how Harbaugh decided to deal with things.
To my understanding it wasn't actually a bad grade issue anyway, but a grade he didn't get on time due to various issues and complications that weren't necessarily really his fault. Maybe the grade came in since I heard about it and it wasn't good enough, but the redshirt had already been decided before the grade was resolved.

Then reread 2nd sentence noting I/we M alumni/fans/etc. prefer doing things the right way vs. the alternative.
Then formulate another response which makes sense.

Lemme get this straight: you're saying that if Kareem Walker had signed with OSU, he'd be one of the 2016 Heisman finalists?
