He and Rawls were actually pre-grad transfers.  He was also signed as an undrafted free agent, and in his second year he's 2nd on the Jaguars depth chart at DT after spending some time on the practice squad.

Maybe someone more in the know can answer a question about his college history.  His Jags bio says he was a 5th year senior at Western, that he played at Michigan from 2011-13 and at Western Michigan in 2014 with 12 starts.  But it also says that he graduated from Michigan in 2014.  Is that a typo or were his Western credits transferable and he chose to go there for a chance to play?  Wasn't he injured a lot at Michigan?  So maybe this was a joint opportunity to get him a degree and a chance at playing time?

Nothing personal against Morris, as I'm sure he's a great kid and a hard worker, but if he was the best option Harbaugh had, he would've played.

Morse never threw a single touchdown pass in his entire career here. That's pretty hard to do, especially if you were getting garbage time. Again, nothing personal against Morris, but he didn't give this team the best chance to win.

This one is pretty easy since it was rumor all summer.

I didn't know where he was in school, but I thought all summer that if he would've graduated in August he could pull a Rudock/Vernon Adams and find a team right before fall camp.

Wish him all the best.

Wouldn't be shocked at all if there isn't another QB to go either. Two obvious names out there may certainly be looking around.

Not sure how many more...but naturally they'll happen. And if the player is making the best decision for him and his family, I'm all for it.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised at:

1 of 2 other QBs

1 of 2 RBs

1 of 2 WRs

2 of 3 OL

1 of 2 DL

1 of 2 LB

...I can't think of any DBs.

Not saying they'll happen - it just wouldn't shock me. Between 5th years not being offered, transfers and grad transfers. We'll have some new faces for sure.

Interesting was a great way to put it.

Well those 8 + Morris gives you 9...that's right in your window.

I just hope we keep some of the 5th year guys who can provide value and depth even if they're not starters. Obviously they have to want to be here too.

But Isaac, Poggi, Kuglar, Dawson...I see value there. We know their "floor" and they can be plugged right in and contribute even if they're not starters. And you never know...look at Godin, who knew he'd be an All-B1G performer late in his career.

McCray and Clark are givens and I won't comment on Drake Johnson without knowing his health/status. But those first 4...I really do hope they all stay, we need the leadership on a young team. I know Dawson and Hill are close and leaders of the team. Isaac can provide power and be called on if/when needed if he doesn't earn the starting spot. Same with Kugler.

Poggi was a reliable blocker and Hill can't play every down. It would allow us to redshirt Ben Mason if he's going to play FB. A position where a RS year a crucial because no one is leaving early and that 5th year experience, and just being a grown man versus a HS student is HUGE.

I'm sure this is disappointing to everyone who was riding the "Sugar Shane" hype train to the bitter end.

That said, there was some noise about him transfering to GVSU over the summer. Also there were a few comments about his relationship with Borges who was/is at SJSU (not sure if he's still on the staff).

Me personally, I'd LOVE to see him playing in some Wednesday night MACtion next year! What do the QB situations look like at EMU, CMU, WMU and Toledo?
