Honestly though - WHO hates Harbaugh?!?!
EVERYONE who's not a Michigan fan, Duh!
Or rather, everyone who's a fan of another team. If you're neutral, I suppose he probably seems pretty cool. And Obv anyone who likes Michigan thinks he's AWESOME!!!!!
I didin't see the Simpsons episode, but as there's likely a Mighigan influence on the Harbaugh bit, I'm guessing it's meant ironically.
Your essay was so very serious...

Marge also uttered this prophetic line two decades ago: "Avoid the Noid! He ruins pizzas!"

And let us not forget when Homer delivered one of the most prophetic lines ever:
"This doesn't happen in America. Maybe Ohio - but not America!"

lmao, yeah, because people disliking a coach has sure hurt Nick Saban over the last few years. Great call.
This isn't anything worth getting upset about.

Haha you're laughably wrong. They are acknowleding that he is a genious. Would you rather have a genious that "everybody" hates, or an average coach who people like? Besides, not everybody actually hates him. Any media personality that actually interacts with him actually ends up loving him. Colin Cowherd actually dressed as him for Halloween last year, as did Michelle Beadle on ESPN's Sportnation this year. The haters are just moutbreathers from SEC country, rival Big10 fanbases and other uninformed dumb dumbs. Any one that that knows any thing about football at minimum admires the man.

Holy cow, I thought the only Simpsons episodes were reruns from the '80s and 90's.
I didn't know they were still making new ones.
I thought the Harbaugh quote was as a Colts QB.

I think there was only one episode that aired in the 1980s, not including the Tracey Ullman Show shorts, if I am correct which was the Pilot episode (Christmas special).
On a side note, I think starting Thanksgiving day morning on FXX, they're going to air every single episode in a row up until this current season.

The show runner of the Simpsons, Al Jean, grew up in Detroit. Usually the Michigan mentions on the show come courtesy of him - Like Homer's half brother running a car company in Detroit, the UM Dearborn mention a couple years ago, the boxes from the box factory getting shipped to Flint, etc.
The Harbaugh shoutout could be another Al Jean thing or maybe someone else on the staff is a fan of one of the schools where Harbaugh has tried to set up his satellite camps...which, as we have learned, puts him right up there with Hitler.
And yes, I know I'm really showing my Simpsons level of fandom here but I don't care. I don't watch the show religiously anymore but seasons 1-15ish will always be gold.

In a few years, references to the Simpsons will be citing Shakespeare.
By the way here is a Simpsons reference to many of the UM opponents.

We love Harbaugh becuase he's our crazy person. But to everyone else, he's just crazy and annoying as hell. He's constantly in your face, in the news, doing something crazy that most coaches don't do, The fact that ,on top of all that, all he does is win makes it that much worse. So I get it.
And I do not care. ALL ABOARD THE HARBAUGH TRAIN! CHOO CHOO MFERS!

It's crazy how DANGEROUS the Simpsons was back in the day. It was so controversial - why? Who the hell knows? Probably because it portrayed an American family in a realistic light. The kids were brats to each other, the dad was fat and lazy, the parents resented the bratty, smartass kids. Plus it was a cartoon that used (tamely) offensive language and seemed to encourage disrespect. No one had seen anything like that. I remember my parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles yelling at me, brother and sister and cousins to turn it off. The Bushes thought it was going to bring the country down. It's absurd to think of it now.
Meanwhile, if people watched it closely they would have realized it was the greatest satire of American culture of all time.
Years later when the show got my dad and even my grandpa to crack up I was so proud.

and my wife asked me, "Are you sure we should let Jack (my 2 year-old) watch the Simpsons? I was never allowed to watch the Simpsons." Mind you: she never brings this up when Family Guy is on. Its amazing the level of stigma that show recieved.
November 7th, 2016 at 1:28 PM ^
Family Guy is far worse - way more violent and laden with filthy jokes throughout (a lot of them are subtle - beyond the ken of a 2 year old but still pretty trashy)
