How much more pleasant is your office today?

Submitted by MaizeAndBlueWahoo on

Directly across the aisle from me there's an M flag hanging where once was an S flag.  A certain green-clad co-worker lost a bet.  (Wasn't me who made it - we outnumber the Sparties in this area.)  She's good people so not too much of unnecessary smack talk today, but the M fan who did make the bet asked me if anything looked different, and I couldn't help remarking that for some reason the aisle looked extra classy today.  As I type this my coworker is suggesting that she's getting more compliments than usual on the state of her cube and perhaps we should invite more people over.  The flag has to stay up until the CoFoPoff final.

How about it, Monday crew, any pleasing fallout from Saturday at work today?  Perhaps some areas of the office a little quieter than they have been?  Anybody who really needed a dose of comeuppance?

Only 1 Sparty in my building and he's the "executive building manager" which is a fancy was of saying "maintenance man."

A bunch of M grads/fans and they're pretty tame today.  Like a lion after it eats a buffalo.

the place is crawling with Sparty's and yet I will say nothing about the game.  It pisses them off even more that I won't talk smack. I expect to beat MSU so I see no reason to crow about it.

For me, the whole season has been more peaceful. Sadly, I was moved to a different department at the beginning of the season away from "Pissed off Sparty fan whom is mad at the world" (he thinks the refs and Cook's shoulder were the only things that kept them from beating Bama...seriously) so I don't have anyone to talk shit to.

How do I embed a video of the Deveon touchdown before half time? You can see the utter disgust of the sparty fan as I scream and high five my uncle!!

and I should have won the billion dollar power ball because I wanted it so badly. MSU fans trying to save face by saying they would have won if the game was just a little bit longer (heard that one a lot so far today). My response: "or, your team could have started playing better earlier."

I am beginning to think a close win is better than a blow out. Wasn't that the gist of Mike Hart's comments? You let them get close and take it away? Now they have more to bitch about and lose sleep over - rather than a blowout. If we had blown them out I was going to print up bumper stickerrs but if a close loss makes them angrier -all the better.

some sparty coworkers trolled me earlier in the week with a 'Spartan Alumni' license plate holder and having the ABC announcer calling the punt play through my monitor speakers.

Did some redecorating Sunday evening -

I have Alabama, Baylor, Texas, and Aggie in my building, so I get to listen to them all the time. Good news is that I have a case of yeungling coming to me from my Sparty friend from our annual liquor bet. can't get yeungling, so it's nice to be in the winning end this year.

I work in Lansing, just four miles from the heart of darkness itself. Plenty of State fans in this office, but it's a fairly "bookish" crowd so they're pretty quiet about it anyway, and while I'd say they're a plurality, they're not a majority. I've got no reason to not be magnanimous, or even bring it up, really.

Social media, however, has been great. Other than a post about comeuppance re the 2-point try and its hilarious outcome, a comment I'd have made about any game, I haven't said anything. I want to make clear to my Sparty relatives and friends where they stand: the "joy" of beating you is no different than beating Illinois, the only difference is the massive relief that accompanies it, with the knowledge I (mostly) don't have to hear your stupid shit for a year. Losing to you sucks far, far more than beating you exhilarates. Even my Johnny-come-lately cousin, who started watching football three years ago when Sparty was on the rise, got nothing more than my silent satisfaction. See, this is how things were before you jumped on the bandwagon. Gloat? About beating Michigan State? Surely you jest!

Now, it has been tough not responding to shit like, "Props to my Spartans, worst MSU team since 2002 holds SCum to 32 points!". Oh, OK. So I guess Michigan gets "props" last year for "holding" the best MSU team in 50 years to 27 points. Alas, I don't go there. Postings like that are nothing more than begging for Michigan fans to get down in the mud with them and grant the recognition they desperately crave.

All my fellow teachers are Sparty fans.  I am grinning ear to ear and they are just telling me to shut up.  I told them they can invite Dantonio to their class to teach him basic math algorithms.

My math lesson on the board  for the problem of the day was Can someone tell me what 32-23 is all about?

All the kids answer...  The score from the Michigan/MSU game.  I said, they are correct, but it is also a palindrome.  Taking everyday items and incorporating it into education.  Great Monday here!!!!   GO Blue!!!

I live and work in south Florida, and my office is all women, including one from India, who have no idea about sports. In fact, one of them will show me anti-Michigan memes and pictures on her Facebook (from her family in Ohio), and honestly doesn't understand why I don't think they're funny. She'll say, "Well, I saw it said Michigan, so I thought I'd show you." Ugh.
When I go in the main hospital I get to talk sports sometimes, but most everyone here is MIA/FSU/UF/Bama, so its limited. It's still a good day.

We have restored order and they know that their run is over! They have led all of 3:28 out of the last 120 minutes against us. They will not win in Ann Arbor next year either. They have QB issues that will keep them right where they are.

"Oh, but Michigan loses like, a million seniors! They probably won't even be able to have a team next year!"

Um...remember all those years you were out-recruited and you said it didn't matter, because Michigan doesn't have a coach who can develop players? Well...they do now. And he still out-recruits you, too. Bright side: due to the schedule, you have a slightly shorter wait for your shot at redemption next fall. Not bright side: 32-23 is going to seem like Michigan being nice.

Charlotte I don't experience Spartys on a daily basis.  There is only one in my office but we don't work directly together although I do plan to harass him today.

I go to school in Florida, so I don't run into too many Saprties here, but I did notice the ones I do know were not wearing green yesterday or today. It's fun to just make eye contact and both know what happenned Saturday without having to say anything.

We won but I like to rub salt a bit....Someone on TKA this AM said this will be Dantonios fourth 6 loss season in ten years.

If true I guess he's selling mediocrity not results 40% of the time. Better call the FCC. We have a false adverting claim.

I share an office with 5 other people - 4 randoms from Florida and PA and one proud Sparty. Each year we have a bet where the other has to say "Go Blue" or "Go Green" in the larger group meeting (about 40 people). Last year was painful. This year will be so sweet. I cannot wait for 2:30 pm tomorrow.
