Past Players(that didn't work out) in Don Brown's Defense

Random Bye Week question:

Which ex-Michigan players do you think would thrive in Don Brown's defense that did not have much success during their time in Ann Arbor?

I would love to see Marvin Robinson at the Peppers position, as well as Pipkins at NT.

36 posts and no mention of Josh Furman? He was not a good safety at Michigan and then was outstanding as an LB (not sure if it is a SAM position similar to Brown's) at Okalhoma State.

Blake Countess. Wonder how he would've fit in a more man-coverage scheme but I think he would've fared well.

Frank Clark was pretty awesome when he was here, and i wonder how he would've looked coming off the edge in Brown's system.

Of course, I would love to see the amazingly boring Jarrod Wilson playing for Brown.

Boubacar Cissoko. Don Brown would have beat him to death with a baseball bat before he let him get into trouble. 4 hour practices leave you too tired to steal from people. He would have been all right.

who underachieved. Harbaugh, Brown, and staff are simply better coaches that will get the most out of their players and put them in a position to succeed.

Based on Brown's system, the highest variability would be seen among any super athletic (Furman, M. Robinson, etc) guy that had no idea where to be or what to do on the field when under RR or Hoke.

I think the best name that DIDN'T WORK OUT is Josh Furman. He played LB at OK St and I think he loved pretty impressive... The interesting question is how he would play in this defense... He would be a perfect SAM but with Peppers on the team I wonder how much he would play. He ran sub 4.5 and was 6-2 around 210. Perfect size for this spot. Marvin Robinson and others have talent but they never showed other places they could do the job and not of them had his athleticism.

Craig Roh had the talent and the work ethic to succeed, but was horribly misused by Rich Rod's staff. Brown would have utilized Roh as a pure DE from the start (and never assigned him pass coverage duties, which was not his strong suit).

Obi Ezeh would never have gotten pancaked so regularly (the way he was most memorably in the 2010 Iowa game).

Will Campbell wouldn't have futzed around for three years before finally getting it together in 2012 (and Brown DEFINITELY wouldn't have been okay with moving him to OL as a solution to his mediocre performance as a D-lineman).
