Actually Steven Pinker makes a very convincing case (in my opinion, obviously) for using "very unique" in his recent _A Sense of Style_ book. Just throwing that out there.

I never thought I'd hear that...

i mean, how on earth do you announce a 78-0 game in the first place? yeesh. thats like trying to pleasantly talk someone through a live operation of having someone hacksaw a limb off.

They could just call it straight. Who is watching besides Michigan fans at this point, anyway?
I think announcers are at their worst when they try to make lopsided or inept games "interesting" for the casual fan.

Exactly. They should have reveled in the destruction and helped the viewers celebrate the carnage.

That is literally (not figuratively) the funniest thing I've read in weeks. Thanks!

The pimp hand was so strong with this one. Thanks to Coach Harbaugh and the team! That was satisfying.

Those step-up passes on the move down field were nice. The throw stepping up in the pocket off of one foot to Chesson for the score was bomb digity. I haven't saw the so called super Barrett do that yet.

Varsity vs. JV.

Loved the all-encompassing domination (obvious things are obvious). The block in the back breaks my heart a little. 3 & 1/2 hours of pure joy.

The answer to both questions is 1939: Michigan 85, Chicago 0. They were a conference opponent then. That was the last year they played major college football.

Fair point.
The ESPN game recap says that this was Rutgers's worst loss since 82-0 vs Princeton.. in 1888.
Which, honestly, is a little hard to believe.
