Report: Michigan to host five-star center (BBall) Mo Bamba for official visit

Submitted by Brian Griese on

"According to a report by Sam Webb, Michigan will host five-star center Mohamed Bamba for an official visit this weekend.  Bamba is ranked 3rd nationally according to 247 Sports Composite and Duke and Kentucky lead his Crystal Ball projections. He’s also considering Harvard, where he took his most recent recruiting visit."

They're all different. Duke flies under the radar with compliance because they're a private school. Kentucky just says "fuck it" and treats their program like an NBA team in every way possible, Michigan used to pay players but still has enough pedigree to be used as a leverage against bagmen at other programs and Harvard....that might be a vanity vist: "look how smart and concerned about academics I am." And/or the Dawkins/K connect.

I love Michigan basketball but why would a highly ranked center want to play for Michigan? Other than tape on McGarry, if you tune into a Michigan game you see maybe one or 2 post entry passes a game and other than that, the way the offense is currently set up, they are just supposed to pick and dive to the basket.

Gee, maybe they would adapt if they had a 5* center.  Like they adapted McGary into the high post offense.  And he would get a great (although maybe brief) education.  Maybe he thinks Beielen is a great tactical coach that could teach him some aspects of the game.

I get why people are skeptical but I hate these "why would he even look at Michigan" posts.  Great coach, great facilities, great education, why not?

It's a terrible system for big men whose only skill is playing back to the basket and who can't catch the ball (Doyle). If you're an athletic dunky type then it's a fantastic system with the abundance of pick and rolls, not to mention offensive rebound oppurtunities. A guy like this fluorishes in any system. He can drive to the basket out of the high post too and we all saw how we adapted our offense to let McGary do that.

I see you completely ignored the potion of that post that went over all the other things outside of putback dunks a 5 star big man would enjoy under Beilein. I've compiled the data and you are a shitty poster. You had a schtick that worked for a bit and then when that got old, you have nothing else. Quit being shitty

Beilein needs to run with the Jumpman thing. seriously. I'm expecting a huge uptick in recruiting...and if it's played right, a huge uptick. though I'm afraid we have only one shot to benefit from the new Jumpman affiliation, and if recruiting remains stagnant, then the opportunity will be forever lost
