OT- The most beautiful place in the world

Submitted by Mabel Pines on

So my Mom is from the East Coast and has been to a lot of places.  The other day she told me she thought Arcadia Bluffs was the most beautiful place she had ever seen.  What do you think?  What is/ are the most beautiful places in the world?  Places we should visit.  (obvs, a full Big House after a nice win, but where else?)

but to call it the nicest place in the world is a bit of a stretch

Just in Michigan alone, pictured rocks, mackinaw island, pretty much anywhere north of cadillac and ofcourse Ann Arbor

Well...depending upon what route you take of course.  Turning south on Cima Road road into the Mojave National Preserve will immediately take you through a joshua tree forest far superior to anything in Joshua Tree National Park.  It will also give you a proper trajectory befitting your statement.

I am blessed that I was able to do my abroad work in Greece one summer. It's strength is the sheer amount of beautiful islands and others places on the water that it has. Santorini (best sunset I have ever seen), Crete, Corinth, and my overall favorite of the cape of Sounion all immediately come to mind. Still we are blessed with many wonders and I can never pick just one. Michigan has its own beauty, Skiing at Alta and above the clouds at Mt. Hood comes close as well. Any number of our national parks. Prague at nightfall. The world is a beautiful place.

I'll add Ireland to the list. Pretty much any part of the coast and/or countryside.

Halong Bay, Vietnam is another favorite of mine.

If we're also thinking about impressive "man-made" sites I'd add Angkor Wat--amazing.

I haven't seen nearly enough of this world to have a worthy opinion, but I have been to Arcadia Bluffs and it's by far my favorite golf course. It's just an amazing experience. Beautiful views on every hole and an amazing clubhouse. The bagpiper is a nice touch as well. It'll cost you a pretty penny and you're pretty much guaranteed to putt one off the green and 40 yards back down into the fairway, but it's worth it. You just might want to bring a couple clubs up to the green even if you're putting.

"Muskoka's" in northern Ontario (http://www.discovermuskoka.ca/)... I've been up there a hand full of times at this resort (http://clevelandshouse.com/) and it is amazing... its quiet, clean and just flat out peacful... now even in August its 40 degrees or lower in the morning but by mid day its in the 80's and i have been told that there is still ice on the lakes up there until the end of June...

Maui. Went there with my wife several years ago (before kids), and it was absolutely amazing. Lahaina, Wailea, watching the sun rise over the clouds on Mt. Haleakala Other than my honeymoon, it was the best vacation possible.

Unfortunately, there is absolutely no damn way I am flying 8.5 hours with a 3.5 and 1.5 year old

I've traveled quite a bit (as a fly fishing guide) to some beautiful places (Alaska, British Columbia, Fiji, Japan, Iceland, Argentina).  I live near Yellowstone and Glacier Parks.  But the most epic scenery I have ever seen is the South Island of New Zealand.  Hands down.

We traveled the South Island this past December and I agree. I am lucky to have traveled to many of the places listed in this thread and they are all great but New Zealand's South Island is the most amazing place I've been. Whale watching, wine country, beaches by boat only, glaciers, etc. Koh Samui, Thailand is my favorite tropical location but there are a lot of good alternatives.

As far as Perú goes, both the Sacred Valley and the Colca Canyon are great, but the Cordillera Huayhuash and Cordillera Blanca near Huaráz are even more stunning.  A bit further north, in Ecuador, there's a spot on a trail in the Andes directly between El Altar (17,500ft.) and Chimborazo (20,500 ft.) that offers views of both and is absolutely unbeatable at sunset.

I have been coast to coast across the US. The Grand Canyon is jaw dropping. The Rockies are beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed waking up and staring at them in Colorado.

However, nothing can beat a beach for me. Give me blue water and white sand anywhere and I am as happy as a human can be.

In the ocean snorkeling or scuba diving is also really gorgeous. You kind of feel like you are in a different, beautiful, alien world while you are down there.
