OT - Worst Living Artist or Band

Submitted by InterM on

Greetings fellow music fans,

In honor of Prince and the other great musicians claimed before their time so far in 2016, I'm wondering whether we should propose a trade with the Grim Reaper?  Not that I would be so crass as to wish something bad upon someone, just because they might suck at music or make noises that hurt my ears -- but, just for the sake of argument, if something just happened to befall a living artist or band, who would you choose?

To get the ball rolling, I'll suggest Rod Stewart.  And not because he is and always has been bad at music.  No, his greatest offense is that he proved himself capable of putting out very good songs early in his career, only to continually assault our ears for many, many years thereafter.

And now I open the floor to my fellow MGoBloggers.

Offspring.  A complete and total joke.  Just plain awful.

Steve Miller Band. Pablum at its finest (or worst).  In the 80's, every girl was issued a Steve Miller Band Greatest Hits tape and a pack of Marlboro Lights upon turning 18. Both polluted the air.

Phil Collins.  It is impossible to go an hour without In The Air Tonight infiltrating the radio.

Scorpions.  Dude's voice cuts through my eardrums like a jagged scalpel.

Alanns Morisette.  Possibly the worst voice ever?

Foreigner:  Juke Box Hero could be the worst song of all time.

That's funny shit right there. My son was conceived after a Steve Miller concert. That same son, and his friends, thinks Juke Box Hero is one of the great songs of all time. But I totally agree about Alanis Morisette and The Offspring.

I'm just waiting for WD to post something and see all the negs he gets.  With that said I think the worst artist is that guy at the party who sees a guitar and says "I can play"  and then just plays wonderwall.

These guys were before the days of most of you, but there was a truly abysmal 70s trio called Sir Lord Baltimore. When they played the Fillmore, Bill Graham's reaction to them was, "Pus! Pus! Pus!" And he was right.

are on the shitlist right now for me.

U2 has sucked since Rattle and Hum when they stole the song the Charles Manson stole from the Beatles.

Matt and Kim are stealing suck from U2, but they are leaving them some...

and that is U2. All of their music is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I was in college when they first hit it big and could never understand why everyone loved them so much.
