Welcome to the club of sleepless nights, endless worry and perpetual joy. The best day is when you realize that you will never create anything in your life quite like your boy.

One day the child of the fearless leader, Kim Jong Cook, will inherit the Democratic People's Republic of MGoBlog with great fanfare and rejoicing amongst the Worker's Party of Michigan

Funny - when Seth said you were on a top-secret and important mission the first thing I thought of was "I wonder if he's having a baby".  Welcome to the club my man....nothing like your first born son.

Nothing.

Congrats man. I look forward to being 55 years old and reading Denard Cook's UFR of the Ohio State game, Harbaugh's 20th consecutive victory over the Buckeyes.

Go out often during months 1-6. At that age, they don't care where they are so you can do waht you want. After 6 months, they begin having opinions on what they want and make them known.

My oldest daughter decided she didn't like Napa Valley wineries.

Wonderful news.

2 peices of (unasked for) advice

1) Do not wish away the time.  Enjoy each and every phase.  They fly past.

2) This is important.  When the kid wakes up at night, you must keep your breathing slow and steady.  If you change your breathing, she will know you're awake and expect you to go get the kid, change the diaper, etc..  Note - this is true even if she is breast feeding and has to get up to feed the baby.  You are still expected to be awake too.  Do not try to explain how fucking illogical this is.  It does not end well.

Congrats fearless leader!!!

Let me give the best advice i can give to first time parends of a newborn:

Do NOT feel like using the nursery services to watch your new child makes you a bad parent. You have not gotten a lot of sleep the last couple days, and will not get much when you take your new child home. Get sleep in the hospital and let the nurses do what they do best. They will bring baby to mom for feedings, etc.

With our first we did not take proper advantage of this, because we didn't know. with our 2nd and 3rd.... no brainer.
