did I read that wrong?  If he got an NFL coordinator job - Michigan would be off the hook... not  so for CFB.  Bummer.  Best to Hoke... but he could coach a non D-1 school ... there's no question.

I don't know man...in-game adjustments aren't Hoke's strength. Recruiting yes, defensive techniques coaching yes. Tactical decisions, no. Designing a scheme to fit players' strengths, no. Adjustments, no. Crisis management, hell no. Secondary/DB development, questionable. This is good for their d-line, and we'll see about everything else.

Good luck Brady

clap, clap

clap clap clap

edit: to clarify, that was a joke. I've always liked Brady, hope he does well there. Except against Michigan.

I think there had been rumblings that this might happen for a week or two now, and of course, it has in fact happened. What is interesting to me now is seeing Hoke in this role, but also how he would adjust to seeing as many plays from scrimmage as Oregon does on average. It is some 15 plays or so more than when he was at Michigan, which is significant. In any case, interesting move by Oregon and good luck to Hoke in this new position.

Still don't really understand all the Hoke bashing.  He tried his best and it wasn't good enough - that's it.  Did he do some dumb stuff along the way? He did. But dang, give the dude a break.  Hope he kills it there.

I'm not gonna let myself get baited here. Hoke's strength was always on defense. He did a fine job with the DL, both in recruiting and coaching. We forget that he and Mattison together laid the seeds for the current performance on the defense. It was on the offense that it wasn't all there, and it wasn't all his fault. I'm glad he has landed, and wish Brady and Laura only the best. And of course, I'm thrilled Harbaugh is Michigan's coach.

I think this is great for him and I think he will do well in a tough, offense-heavy conference. A lot of coaches of quality believe a great deal in Brady Hoke, like Greg Mattison. There is a reason, I am sure. He has a great eye for defensive talent, and a very, very good DL coach. Maybe he wasn't great head coaching material when he was hired (prematurely IME), but he should be able to excel on the defensive side of the ball. First time as a coordinator, I look forward to seeing how he does.

And I hope you're right - I'd like to see him do well there and the Ducks are kinda my default second favorite team being surrounded by so many of their fans in my family.

I didn't watch the Hoke teams much but I get the sense that he is very good with the D-line and recruiting but not very good with putting together a game plan or developing talent.

Scary, but I hope for the best there - kinda like the way i felt about Rich-Rod coming here.

I wish Hoke good luck. Though if he had any real good defensive coordinator skills, then he was doing our team a disservice by not wearing a headset. He should've been wearing one to quickly give possible helpful defensive input to Mattison, instead of walking the sidelines as a team motivater.

Good for him. Regardless of any disappointment from his tenure here, he always seemed to be a genuinely good guy. I hope he has nothing but success.

After just finishing John Bacon's most recent book, I can't help but cheer for Brady.   I hope he does great at Oregon.  I didn't love him on the Sirius college football radio show.  I don't think broadcasting/radio is his calling.

If anything, a great chance to figure out how to defend a spread offense that is uptempo.

Wish him luck. he's a very good recruiter and his defensive lines in particular were quite good. He'll probably not be great at Oregon, but if he can at least slow down teams defensively they can win lots of games.

When he talks the Civil War game. "Yeah we're getting ready to play Oregon. It's a great rivalry." "Brady you know you're playing Oregon State right? You coach at Oregon." "Yeah...uhh I've never called them Oregon State. I've always called them Oregon..."
