This team is really tough to watch but you can't argue with the effort.  As bad as Walton was at times, he came up with some huge plays down the stretch.

Games like that always make me nervous, but very nice finish indeed from the Wolverines and that seals what I believe is the first win against a Top 3 opponent in a while9at least at home) , if I am not mistaken. I could be wrong in that, but it feels like that. In any case, excellent win and great to see Irvin in particular have a good game.

Oh he's absolutely wrong. The idea that you can pick tournament teams 3 games into conference play is stupid. Considering we were 2-1 in the B10 and were 12-4 makes it even more ridiculous to say beating the number 3 team in the nation was THE game that would take us off the bubble.

almost every braketology had us as a 10 seed or worse going into this game which is very much on the bubble.  We had not beaten a single top 50 team prior to this win.

Beating the #3 team is EXACTLY the type of game that gets a bubble team into the tourney.

Apparently you missed my fucking point. Why would this game have to be won when we have another game against them and Purdue and two games against MSU and Iowa both? The idea that 3 games into conference play there is bracketology when there are 15 games and a B10 tournament still to play is the stupid part. Purdue just lost to Illinois, a team we beat the shit out of on the road, and they have a worse B10 record than us. Looks like, even though they are ranked, they are on the bubble. We have no problem saying bracketology is stupid as shit at the beginning of the year until it can prove a point about how bad we are, then one game half way through the year is crucial to us making the tournament. The idea that beating one of the best teams in the nation when we have 15 or so more games and a tournament is ridiculous and you're stupid if you think so. Everyone sucks Izzo's nuts like he's the greatest coach on the planet but they completely ignore the years his team's play like shit at the beginning of the year and then are in the final 4 at the end of the year. Izzo's teams get better as the year goes on and rarely do we give beilein that same benefit of the doubt. Well, I mean, we do, but you and ak47 and all the other posters I'm pretty sure are MSU fans don't

If you want to argue there's no point even talking about bracketology at this point, that's fine. But you specifically said it's laughable that this team at 12-5 would be a bubble team. I'm not sure what you don't get about bracketology but it works by looking at teams' current resumes and judging what the seeding would be if the selections were to be made at the time, not looking at their potential for wins down the road. Of course we didn't need to win this to get into the tourney at the end of the year. But, before tonight (or after it with a loss), M was a bubble team. The fact that we have plenty of games ahead is irrelevant. That's what he was saying.

If Michigan was a bubble team before this game, so was every big 10 team other than MSU and Maryland. So the B10 has, what, 5 or 6 teams on the bubble? Shit, half the field is on the bubble right now. Some of the top 25 are on the bubble too. Saying a team is on the bubble with half the year to go is ridiculous.

about.  Hell even the coach disagrees with you.  Here is what JB said about the game:

“Most of our focus is just to get to the top of the Big Ten,” John Beilein said. “But I’ve told them on a couple occasions, there’s also this thing called Selection Sunday, and we don’t want to be missing on Selection Sunday. You have to have top-50 wins, and you have to have a few of them, and this one helps a lot.”

No where in that quote did Beilein say we might not have made the tournament if we didn't win that game, which is what I was responding to. Also, that is coach speak if I've ever heard of it. What is he supposed to say...This game didn't really matter because we have a whole half of the season to win games? No. That's true, but the head coach isn't going to say it. Do wins against top teams help get you in the tournament? Of course. I never said they didn't. But to say we were on some sort of hypothetical bubble because we have no quality wins is ridiculous when we have an entire half of the schedule left. Again, saying this win helps us get into the tournament is not the same as saying we had to win this game to get into the tournament. We stI'll have a good chance at winning the B10, so I'm not sure why this one game makes or breaks our tournament hopes

93 grad hit the nail on the head. By saying they were a bubble team I meant if the tourney started before the game yesterday we'd be on the bubble. This was a huge step in the right direction and puts us squarely in the tournament. Also hidden is the fact that winning against a team like Maryland minus Lavert is huge for the confidence of the team which is also a big factor come March to have the attitude you can beat anyone. Your mindless rambling was completely misguided. Take a fucking chill pill.

About time the team stepped up. Huge win against a top opponent. To beat Maryland without your top player says a lot. Let's keep it going!!!! Go blue!!!

Well said.   We absolutely had to score the next possession and we did just that.

The and 1 by Donnal (who had his handprints all over this win) told me we were not losing this game.

What a fight and desire to win by Michigan.

Fucking Awesome.
