Which road game are you going to between MSU, Iowa, and Ohio State?

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on

Next year we have a subpar home schedule but a great road slate. I'm not going to Rutgers because it's Rutgers and I only have enough money for one of these games. Seeing the maize and blue take over Spartan Stadium would be great and we should have the more talented roster for the first time since 2012. I've never been to the Horseshoe for a game and the big ten title could be up for grabs that week. Which ones are you guys thinking about doing?

I do wish we had like 30k Michigan fans in their stadium. I don't know how the Columbus fans would react to that. It always seems like they give us barely 1000 fans in their stadium and then we give them a huge strip across the top of our south endzone.

was spit on at Spartan Stadium.  By a girl.  (I hope people remember this next time they want the State girls over the Michigan ones because they think they are hotter)  You couldn't pay me to go to that freakshow.

edit: replied to wrong person, but I'm sure getting spit on applies to Columbus as well...

Seriously, it is a question of where I can get tickets at a decent enough price. I'll be watching Seth's thingamabob on when and how to buy tickets. Living in Chicago, EL and Iowa are easier to get to. With wife's fam being from Cleveland, and going there for Thanksgiving, that would be a great post-Thanksgiving road trip.

I wore UM gear in the Spartan Stadium student section in 2007 (I think) when we came back and ripped their hearts out.  Worse experience of my life.  It also did not help that the movie 300 had recently come out and they handed out inflatable spears to the entire student section.  I still think my experience was probably not as bad as what you'll experience.  Props to you.

That game was one of my happiest memories as a football fan ever. There was a 12 year old boy sitting in front of me who was talking trash and swearing at me the whole game. His father thought this was hilarious and kept giving me this shit eating grin. I really didn't mind much as they were relatively harmless. Then as Michigan began their comeback, the boy and his father became noticeably concerned and began to visibly sweat. As I was leaving after that amazing victory, the last thing I saw was that father holding his son who was sobbing uncotrollably. Such a happy memory for me.

To go to the shoe. I probably wouldn't make it out of there alive, but seeing all those suckeye fans with that look on there face after a lose would be so worth it.

It's not as bad as they say.

Yes, it's bad, but Michigan fans go every year and none of us have died yet.

I went last year, wore bright maize (was very noticeable) and was pretty much fine. A few nasty insults, but nothing major.

MSU, just so I can see Dantonio's smug, shit eating grin reduced to a scowl, along with his whole merry band of hooligans when they lose.

That program is full of two-faced turds. They spout on and on about how disrespected they are by the college football world, but when they win, they act like petulant five year olds who want to rub it in your face in the dirt and proclaim to the world that you lost and they won. They demand respect but give none in return.

If I can secure leave then I hope to go to the MSU and OSU games, if not it'll probably be easier for me to go to East Lansing if I can only make one. I'd like to go to Rutgers just for the fact it's not to far for me coming from DC. I missed the Maryland game because I was on TDY, I was looking forward to it being that it's my first year here.

Still no word if I can get out early Tuesday, at this point if they tell me it's cool tomorrow I'm sure tickets will be an issue.

Like all of us Bos-Wash alumni, probably Rutgers for ease of travel reasons.  Plus there are so many of us in the Northeast that we should be able to make this a de facto home game. Curious to hear how the experience was in '14. Did we take over the stadium? I watchedish, but it was a Saturday night in the deepest part of my Hoke-funk so I didn't pay that much attention.

It's pathetic that people admit that they won't go to MSU or OSU because they are afraid of the opposing fans. I actually respect them for challenging us. Maybe if we did the same thing the Big House wouldn't be 1/4 red at the OSU game. I'm a dedicated lurker but just created an account to object to this pussification of our fanbase. Makes me sad.

I've been to OSU once and MSU twice and have never had a problem.

MSU isn't scary at all.

OSU can be a little tense/intimidating, but if you're sober and smart you will be 100% fine. It could get dangerous if you're drunk and/or you try to make comebacks towards their insults. Just ignore them and keep your nose up (because Buckeyes are to be looked down upon) and you'll be fine.

"I'm a dedicated lurker but just created an account to object to this pussification of our fanbase."

What's pathetic is that this was your first post.b you should never post again.

As I can handle myself, the safety of my kids is of utmost importance. MSU and OSU are the only places their safety was in question.

To be fair, most OSU fans will see the kids and help keep the other mongoloids in check.

MSU, you're likely to have a grandmother throw a battery at your head.

I just haven't had the same bad experiences that others have, I guess. Certainly nothing that made me worry about my kids, but I agree that I wouldn't take them anywhere where I thought their safety was in question. But going to an away game decked out in Michigan gear can be perceived as a hostile act, and I think it's fair to expect a hostile reaction from a passionate fanbase. I think it's part of what makes college sports fun!

I guess if you think being an asshole is "fun". I get the passionate part, and I can take it a little overboard myself. But I never direct it at others, because that's just plain shitty (caveat: you talked shit beforehand and then my team won. Yeah, now you're gonna get it). When I see fans in opposing gear in Michigan Stadium, I'm mainly just like, "Whatever, just don't talk to me." I'll admit I'm not at all welcoming, but I'm not a prick. Thinking that a person cheering for the other team is justification to insult or attack them is sociopathic.

I was at The Game in 2006 and can tell you that I never want to see our fans engage in the type of behavior that I witnessed there. Taking the long walk from our tailgate to the stadium, there was so much public urination on the banks of that poor river, I almost felt sorry for it. Several drunken OSU fans repeatedly got in our faces, attempting to provoke numerous fights.

The bar area surrounding the tunnel entrance to the stadium was complete madness. Mid-way through the tunnel, more fans got in our faces and spit in my girlfriend's face. At this point, I lost it and was ready to get my ass thoroughly beat-down by the mob as I got in their faces. Security was everywhere but didn't seem much interested in helping. Just then, an elderly OSU gentleman stepped in between us and began yelling at his fellow fans. Naturally, they shoved him aside, nearly knocking him to ground. Apparently, this was the cue that security needed as they finally intervened.

While I won't say that I will never go back to The Game in Columbus, it may be a long time before I feel I need to have another beautiful Saturday ruined again.

I've been attending IA road games since the late 90s but it will all depend on my work schedule. If I cannot make it I'll try to grab a home game in Ann Arbor!

Iowa by a landslide.

MSU and OSU stadiums are large concrete toilets filled with people with more fingers than teeth. And they talk so much shit, even the grandmothers will throw shit at you.

To be fair to OSU, which has actual fans, isn't as bad as MSU. Which is like saying getting water boarded isn't as bad as getting your fingernails pulled out. The MSU game may very well become a home game for M if they're up 10 or more at the half. They can't even fill the stadium when they're top 10 vs a top 10 team. Unless you like meth and crooked politicians, East Landfill sucks. You'd have to pay me, a lot, to go there.

Heard Kinnick is a cool stadium. I'd love to go to Nebraska. The fans are above and beyond nice and extremely knowledgeable.
