I was assuming he'd end up at UNC.

Yeah, this is a cautionary tale that not all college kids can handle moving across the country for school, or to get too invested in recruits in general. I hope he finds some place where he is happy, though I doubt it will be at Michigan.

Would've loved to see him land here. A 3 TE set of he, Butt and Bunting would've had the potential to be downright lethal.

Please stop saying "he's an 18 year old kid". He's a 20 year old man. He visited UCLA when there was a blizzard on the East Coast and constantly tweeted about how great the weather is. That just screams "soft".

He's not 20. He's almost 20. If you're going to be a stickler for details, at least be accurate. Especially if you're going to provide a link that says he's 19.

Since when does enjoying nice weather make you soft?

I can't believe so many people are upvoting this Internet Tough Guy comment. Expressing a preference for 73 degrees rather than a blizzard does not make you soft, it makes you a rationale human who shares a pretty widely held preference for "better" weather. See the respective populations of Alaska and SoCal for confirmation of how widely held that opinion on weather is. Not soft...just better.

I say let him come. He has to pass the Harbaugh test after all. If he is still on the team after 4 weeks I'd say it looks good, if not let him run away with his tail between his legs and at least get a brief look at what a real team is coached like.

What was the bad start, I mean aside from leaving the team?

Should have listed to Harbaughs.

At this point, I would hate to give up a scholarship to this young man. I'd happily take him as a walk on/gray shirt type guy, but in my experience the past is prelude, even with folks as young as this. Let him come and figure out a way to pay his own way for a year or two if he really wants to be here.
September 13th, 2015 at 1:37 PM ^
If he really wants to become the best football player he can be and get a top rate education, he should reach out to the staff. He was made for this offense.

I think Bunting is going to be Butt 2.0. We have Wheatley as well. Picked up another good TE this year so I don't see the need to bring Clark in. I think we will get the TE(s) we want for 2017.

Actually, Ann Arbor is A LOT close to NJ than Los Angeles - 620 miles vs 2,746 miles.

You're underestimating the difference between being able to reasonably drive somewhere (NJ to AA) and HAVING to get on a plane and spend all day flying somewhere (NJ to AA).
Forgetting the expense difference, the ability to just get in your car and go someplace on last minute notice vs. the hassle and logistics of flying is a big deal.

...but why are some of you bashing him? You sound like jealous ex-girlfriends.
Is he a good student and a teammate? Can he make our team better? Until you can answer those 3 questions...we really shouldn't judge the kid. Have an opinion on whether you want him after what happened in his recruitment...which yes, was very primadonna. But let's not act like we know he's such a terrible person just cause he didn't fit with UCLA and Mora.
September 13th, 2015 at 1:54 PM ^
I don't think people are calling him a terrible person. I think people are questioning whether a guy who said he would have went to Michigan if his decision were strictly about football and ended up at UCLA because of the weather and scenery AND THEN quit two weeks into the season is really going to fit with Harbaugh's style. That doesn't seem too unfair.
Who knows though. Maybe he comes here and JH brings out the best in him.
September 13th, 2015 at 2:02 PM ^
Pretty sure it's pre-madonna

But Madonna attended Michigan. Thus, if Chris Clark is currently a "Pre-Madonna," that means he'll eventually enroll at Michigan, right?
But then, in fulfilling his destiny as a second Madonna, he'll subsequently drop out of Michigan...
... then we're back to the issue of his ability to stay committed to a school. *sigh*
