OT: The 10 Snobbiest Places in Michigan
I think this article fits in nicely with the granite countertop and private school theme we have going on this week.
Their methodology does appear to be somewhat flawed, as Birmingham didn't make the list and Royal Oak is #4.

TL:DR
Northville, Rochester, Plymouth, Royal Oak, Traverse City, Petoskey, Troy, Novi, Okemos, Saline.

Yeah, I'm not buying Royal Oak as snobby in the way I understand the word. And I lived in Okemos for a bit; it isn't really snobby except that people stuck in Lansing-area like to act like there are divisions in quality between the random towns in that part of the state.
Can't wait for the football season to start.

This is really dumb - if you look at their data set they only include cities with names that begin with the letters N through Z.

Thank you! was bugging me for so long trying to figure out what was wrong with this list.

St. Joseph, has become markedly less snobby in the thirty years since I left it to explore the greater world. Granted there is considerable anti-koala bias that remains ...

Still better than Stevensville. I prefer Saugatuck because everyone wants to pet me there.
August 18th, 2015 at 4:48 PM ^
They want your head mounted on a wall along with their other dispatched "trophies." In Saugatuck, they personally want to mount you - repeatedly - and pet you afterwards. Never get falling down drunk in Saugatuck unless you are a human female, in which instance you should be safe.

SJ is kind of snobby, but in the SW Michigan kind of snobby. We don't match up to the true elites. However, we do think we're the cream of the crop in the area, and having all the FIPs and Whirlpool people bombard us all the time doesn't help the rep.
Not that I don't like Whirlpool. We'd be fucked without them.

I live in Chicago too, the Old Town Triangle in fact. My profession introduces me to many folks, mostly those with money, although I do give away a lot of time to poorly funded start up ventures. My sometimes-boss is JB Pritzker.
It should be no surprise that I have become an expert snob watcher over my career. Now go back to your hipster loft and relax please.

not even close to a hipster loft. interestingly your responses make you sound like quite the snobby one. Your profession puts you with people with money and your sometimes boss is JB pritzker. ooh! how interesting! i know plenty of people with money as well - some are snobs , some are not. Some with the most are the most down to earth. I know plenty of people from grosse pointe as well, some are snobby and some are not. I have friends who grew up in poor places and are now wealthy, some are snobby and some are not. I am certain since you give away so much time to poorly funded start ups that you think yourself egalitarian and against stereotyping, but you did just that. And continued by trying to guess what i live in.
by the way, say hi to JB- he used to be my neighbor.

My family moved from Northville to Bloomfield/ Birmingham, and it's not even close. While I love the amenities of this richer community, I can't deny this new area's pretentious vibe. Even to those who aren't tremendously successful, they believe their property taxes afford them the right to East Coast snobbery. Northville is trying to become "something" close to this, but it still has its small-town, Midwestern charm, despite its eclectic variety of Victorian homes, humble ranches/ colonials, cookie-cutter suburbia, and over-the-top mansions. Also, why not Grosse Pointe or SausageTuck?

Did someone not turn in their research on Michigan cities that begin with letters A to M? Even the full list below, there's not a single place that starts with the first half of the alphabet!
