I'd like for you to prove that claim.

I don't see anything model about going to class for a semester and then basically dropping out because you know you're going pro.

Most students go to class for 4-5 years, which model is this? How is this an example of a model or normal student track to graduation?

Maybe Calipari will leave for the NBA before he gets into trouble again...I'm wondering if all 7 really want to leave or are they being forced out to make space.

Here is the thing with the 7 that are going pro from Kentucy, after watching them in the tournament this year and last, they are honestly not all that good.

I think Towns is the best of them, solid defender/rebounder and has a good back to the basket game, but like the rest of the Kentucky Big Men, cannot shoot from the outside to save his life.  That is what killed KU against Wisconsin and ND. Their bigs cannot make a shot from more than 5 feet away from the basket.

WCS - Nice defender/rebounder, but he is a poor mans Jokim Noah, and he cannot even shoot like Jokim, which is saying alot because he has the ugliest shot of all times.

DJ - Hashem Thebeet 2.0..Nothing special here.  And don't give me the PER for college kids, such an overrate piece of junk when looking at how they would transition to the NBA

The Harrison Twins - They will be lucky if they are drafted at all.  All they proved was that they are large, athletic and every once in a while, hit a ridiculous 3.  You cannot tell me after watching the for 2 years, that you are drooling over their "potential".  They got smoked by a bunch of midget guards of Wisconsin and ND, not to mention our guards from last year.  If they are drafted, guaranteed they are out of the league in 2-3 years.

Booker - Looked nice in spurts, maybe has an NBA game, but didn't play enough to justify a lottery pick.  He really should have come back to take over as the Guy...Jury is still out on him

Lyles - Still an unknown.  Couldn't shoot worth a lick either.

With Towns, he shoots free throws well, so there's at least a sign that he could develop that outside shot.  And Booker and Lyles will be drafted high on potential, so it makes some sense for them to go.  Generally though I agree with you.  I didn't think, outside of Towns, that anyone on Kentucky was such a great individual talent.  Kentucky's big factor was depth.  They had 8 or so guys that would have been the #1 or #2 guy on all but a handful of teams in the country.

I think towns is overrated. Next yr he won't have easy layups. Also. Harrison twins are overrated as well. Booker is gonna be a stud though!

I can't wait to read about this team in a couple of years when we are reading about UK's records being wiped because Cal cheated AGAIN.

So you're saying Kentucky's team is so deep and talented that 2(!) of their bench players are optimistically hoping to get drafted in the NBA? Honestly, how did they ever lose a game?

Chicken or the egg. He may not be a mastermind but it's hard to coach a well-oiled machine out of freshmen and sophomores. Whenever Mark Cuban-types complain about NCAA rules ruining the NBA product I have to laugh at them because NCAA coaches don't have nearly enough time to coach their guys and prepare them for the next level. Sure, rules could be tweaked but the 35-second shot clock is not the problem with college hoops. AAU streetball and constant turnover of the most promising young players is.

Reform the one-and-done to a baseball style skip or commit and we are watching a much better product on both levels, instantly.

It's a balance. He chooses high level talent and a recruiting focus and less on player development. Izzo and Ryan choose player development, but it's not like they have scrubs.

Duke is more in between.

It's a balance and both are important. You take a team full of HS All-Americans and no player development and they'll lose. You take a team full of scrubs and AMAZING player development and they'll lose.

Finding the right balance for your program is how you win.

We of all schools should know this, for as much as Beilein brings guys along, better than maybe anyone...it still took some talent (McGary, Stauskas, GRIII) coming out of HS for us to reach the heights we all expect. Beilein had better balance in 2013 and 2014...

Everyone keeps on thinking we have a chance, but every site rivals, 24/7 doesn't even list us as having more than 1% chance. Can anyone tell me what Sam Webb knows that will help me stay cautiously optimistic?

Love me some UK basketball. Huge UK, UM fan. Disappointing to see them all leave (obviously), especially the Harrison twins. Twins will be lucky if they stay in the league for more than three years; should have stayed at least another year. But they'll reload. Ulis will be the next Rondo, but smaller. From what I have read Jaylon Brown and Malik were just waiting for them to leave before they commit, but who knows.
