Illini fans have to be pissed.  This performance while on the bubble reminds me of Dion Harris and Courtney Sims at the B1G tourney during Amaker's last year.

Oh, and here comes the Illinois 19-0 run to close the game.

It's really nice to see the lights go on in several players near the end of the season.  Needless to say, if UM had been playing like this the rest of the season, they would already be ticketed to the tourny.  But still, seeing such growth out of Dawkins, Rawk, and Irvin, is amazing for next season.  Just need some of the bigs to break out, and damn, next year could be great.  Super deep roster.

Zak and Spike with 2 awful TOs. Spike getting bullied on defense for easy 2s. And of course inbounding trouble.

The run begins. Shock the world and beat Wisconsin tomorrow, advance to the conference title game and slap Sparty around as Izzo bitches about injuries in the post-game presser. Squeak into the tournament and ride an unstoppable wave of momentum all the way to the title game where we beat Kentucky 100-3. Dawkins has 35 points and dunks over Willie Caulie-Stein four times.

Okay but in all seriousness, this is just another great sign that Beilein is holding down the fort and his players do not quit. Still probably an uphill battle to make the NIT, but blowing the roof off of Illinois and probably crushing their tournament dreams was a start.

They will likely be back out in full force tomorrow.

Beilein is a ridiculous coach and the improvement by the individual players on this team is astounding.  During this season...

- Irvin learned how to pass and improved his finishing ability

- Dawkins changed the speed of his release and turned his jumper into a lethal threat

- Chatman began to play within himself and help the team and even hit some jumpers

- MAAR became the late shot clock option, and performed admirably in those spots

- Max fricken Beifeldt began to outplay a lot of his competition as a 6'6 Big Ten Center.  Max  became basically the Zach Novak of centers

Midway through the season this team basically lost ALL of it's usage.  Walton and Levert were creating almost all of the offense before their injuries (occasional spike and occasional Irvin), so to see this success is truly remarkable.

But lose to Wisconsin tomorrow and there will be posts about Beilein's poor recruiting and how Michigan needs a different coach.  I will giggle.

Coach B has not been at his best this year and that has been evident and obvious. Injuries really hurt us but losses to NJIT and EMU healthy....inexcusable. Losses at MSU/Illinois/NW with nice leads and given the effort of the players were also inexcusable. This teams should be 4 to 5 wins better than their record which is where people's frustration comes in. We do have personnel issues defensively with the injuries and are forced to play guys that have to be hidden in a zone. We do tend to miss on our big recruiting targets which is ridiculous given how much success we've had and the type of school Michigan is. Our inbounding is still the 9th Wonder of the world as to how bad we are at it. Despite all of that...this young team has shown growth and is fun to watch. Beilein is a great coach. This year was not his best and he needs to do a better job of controlling attrition. Too many of our kids transfer or leave prematurely for the draft and while it's not Beilein's fault...he certainly has a hand in it. I think we have a great chance to pull off an upset tommorrow and our expectations should be as such. We are Michigan. We don't bow down to Wisconsin in anything. Anyone who thinks Beilein is going anywhere is an idiot. He will need to improve off of this performance coaching wise next year however if we are to win the B1G.

You don't know what he told players tto do in certain circumstances. They are young and may have made mistakes. I heard him on the radio giving percentages and believe me he knew what the best thing to do was percentage wise. The percentages didn't work out on a few days. It happens.
