Dave Brandon sends snarky email back to alum

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Ed-Ace: Did some digging on this and while I haven't been able to get my hands on the original email, I can confirm that if real it is from December of 2013 or earlier, not last weekend. Doesn't change the content of the email, of course, but it does change the context.

Just some background here, my friend comes from a family of Michigan alums. Her aunt who is an alum had enough of this garbage so she decided to speak up.

She sent a very respectful email to Dave Brandon that was well-written on their families' opinion of the job he is doing and she said that they no longer were season ticket holders.

This is by no means a fake. This is his actual email which I have confirmed on here before, as has another poster when he posted a story about DB snapping back at him.

She thought I should pass this along and I found this very interesting given the interview coming out today.

I guess we found out those more important things that Dave had to do...

When asked why he didn't address questions sooner: "Frankly, I've been busy doing things that I think are frankly more important." — Brandon

EDIT: Apologies! I originally posted the photo from a direct message on twitter but I've uploaded it onto another site.

But there's no reason for Dave to send any snarky e-mail, ever. What good does it do him? He's not a 14 year old kid or an anonymous internet poster. He's a representative of the University and if someone sends him a mean-spirited e-mail the only things he should do are ignore it or respond with boilerplate "thank you for your concern." You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Agreed. I remember reading a story about Frank Reynolds, who anchored ABC News back in the 70's and 80's. Anytime he got a negative letter, no matter how vile or obscene it was, he would always answer the same way:

"Dear Sir: Thank you for writing. You may be right. Sincerely, Frank Reynolds"

Pizza Dave should take a page from Reynolds' book. He might know a little something about marketing, but it's clear he knows jack shit about public relations.

It's one thing to think that but you are typing that in an email and don't think that it may get out?

Hopefully it just means Dave knows he's a goner really soon and doesn't care what gets out

Just got off the horn, she does not have the actual original email to Dave. This was sent to her and her family by her aunt in a mass email type deal.

Again, she outlined what the original email was about to me and insists that the email was respectful in tone. I made sure to ask her multiple times if this was the real deal.

I tend to trust that this is. As posted in the OP, DB does do a lot of responding to emails. Some of the responses are similar to this. On that account, too.

I've sent him emails in the past about an error on some signage at U-M Soccer Stadium and he replied within the hour.

I made sure to get as much as this confirmed as I could it was about a 30 minute conversation before I decided to post this. I completely understand if you want to take this down since she does not have access to the original email.

And didnt you just two days ago accuse Brandon of forcing the SAAC to send that email supporting him? And when you actually talked to someone the next day you had to recant your story and said that you were wrong and they definitely were not forced or encouraged to send the letter in support of Brandon. I think there is reason for people to be skeptical of your story.

An email to multiple people.

What I meant by her not having access to the original email was that her aunt never sent the actual email to HER. She just outlined to her and the others she sent it to, what it said.
