What song best captures your feelings about the direction of the program?

For me it's "New Dawn Fades" by Joy Division.

A change of speed, a change of style.
A change of scene, with no regrets,
A chance to watch, admire the distance,
Still occupied, though you forget.
Different colours, different shades,
Over each mistakes were made.
I took the blame.
Directionless so plain to see,
A loaded gun won't set you free.
So you say.
We'll share a drink and step outside,
An angry voice and one who cried,
'We'll give you everything and more,
The strain's too much, can't take much more.'
I've walked on water, run through fire,
Can't seem to feel it anymore.
It was me, waiting for me,
Hoping for something more,
Me, seeing me this time,
Hoping for something else.

Some good - and interesting - song choices listed. I don't have ONE song, but instead, one that I think of when I think of Dave Brandon and the other regarding the Team. Regarding Dave Brandon = TV on the Radio by DLZ Congratulations on the mess you've made of things. On tryin' to reconstruct the air and all that brings. And oxidation is the compromise you own. But this is beginning to feel like the dog wants a bone. You force your fire and then you falsify your deeds. You methods dot the disconnect from all your creeds. Your fortune strives to fill the vacuum that it feeds. But this is beginning to feel like the dog's lost his lead. This is beginning to feel like the long-winded blues of the Never. This is beginning to feel like it's curling up slowly and finding a throat to choke. This is beginning to feel like the long-winded blues of the Never. A barely controlled locomotive consuming the pictures and blowing the crows to smoke. If you'd like to hear it -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N31oFeinFY ------------------------ But regarding the TEAM, this is the song buzzing in my head as they come out each game (I replace "Africa" with "Michigan" in my head lol) = Waka Waka by Shakira You're a good soldier, Choosing your battles. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off, Get back in the saddle. You're on the front line, Everyone's watchin'. You know it's serious. We're getting closer. This isn't over. The pressure 's on, You feel it. But you've got it all. Believe it. When you fall, get up Oh oh If you fall, get up, Eh eh (something Latin) This time for Africa 'Michigan'. Listen to your guide. This is our motto. Your time to shine. Don't wait in line. Y vamos por toda. People are raisin' Their expectations. Go on and feed 'em. This is your moment. No hesitation. Today's your day. I feel it. You've paved the way. Believe it. When you fall, get up... And that one you can listen to here if you'd like -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRpeEdMmmQ0

You know what... that's all a lie. I tried to delete that comment right after I posted it because honestly it's just not true at all (but I can't figure out how to delete, hence the "reply" instead). I discovered this song about three years ago and immediately bought it. A year later I heard it piped in to the Big House during the first night game against ND. I'm sure you've all heard it, but THIS is actually how I view the Michigan football team, past, present, and future. No matter our record, this is what I see, and feel, each time Michigan takes the field. http://youtu.be/P6RK-dCniHw

"Unsatisfied"

Look me in the eye
Then, tell me that I'm satisfied
Was you satisfied?
Look me in the eye
Then, tell me that I'm satisfied
Hey, are you satisfied?

And it goes so slowly on
Everything I've ever wanted
Tell me what's wrong

Look me in the eye
And tell me that I'm satisfied
Were you satisfied?
Look me in the eye
Then, tell me I'm satisfied
And now are you satisfied?

Everything goes
Well, anything goes all of the time
Everything you dream of
Is right in front of you
And everything is a lie

Look me in the eye
And tell me that I'm satisfed
Look me in the eye
Unsatisfied
I'm so, I'm so unsatisfied
I'm so dissatisfied
I'm so, I'm so unsatisfied
I'm so unsatisfied
Well, I'm-a
I'm so, I'm so unsatisfied
I'm so dissatis, dissattis...
I'm so

I'm sick and tired of you setting me up
Setting me up just to knock-a knock-a knock-a me down
Down, down, down [fumble]
I'm going down, down, down, down [shank punt]
I'm going down, down, down, down [interception]
I'm going down, down, down, down [punt from opp. 35]

Step by step, heart to heart, left right left
We all fall down...

[Chorus]
Step by step, heart to heart, left right left
We all fall down like toy soldiers
Bit by bit, torn apart, we never win
But the battle wages on for toy soldiers

[Verse 1]
I'm supposed to be the soldier who never blows his composure
Even though I hold the weight of the whole world on my shoulders
I ain't never supposed to show it, my crew ain't supposed to know it
Even if it means goin' toe to toe with a Benzino it don't matter
I'd never drag them in battles that I can handle unless I absolutely have to

We're leaving together,
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back,
To earth, who can tell ?
I guess there is no one to blame
We're leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?

It's the final countdown

Wouldn't put Gardner in

Wouldn't take Morris out

After a hit on the chin

Because he didn't hear the shouts

We're stuck with Hokey Pokey 'cause Dave Brandon is a lout

That's what it's all about

Cash's Hurt is a very good one, but when we walked out of the Utah game in the middle of that monsoon and got to the car sopping wet we turned on the radio and the song immediately playing was so fitting it was scary. There might have been other songs I would have chosen, and definitely less mainstream ones, but that moment I really reflect on where Michigan football has gone over the past handful of years. Pompeii by Bastille: I was left to my own devices Many days fell away with nothing to show And the walls kept tumbling down In the city that we love Great clouds roll over the hills Bringing darkness from above But if you close your eyes, Does it almost feel like Nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes, Does it almost feel like You've been here before? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? We were caught up and lost in all of our vices In your pose as the dust settles around us And the walls kept tumbling down In the city that we love Rain clouds roll over the hills Bringing darkness from above But if you close your eyes, Does it almost feel like Nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes, Does it almost feel like You've been here before? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? Oh where do we begin? The rubble or our sins? Oh where do we begin? The rubble or our sins? ...

Tell my love to wreck it all,
Cut out all the ropes and let me fall,
My my my, my my my, my-my my-my...
Right in the moment this order's tall.

And I told you to be patient,
And I told you to be fine,
And I told you to be balanced,
And I told you to be kind,
And in the morning I'll be with you,
But it will be a different kind,
'Cause I'll be holding all the tickets,
And you'll be owning all the fines.

Mem'ries,
Light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? Could we?
Mem'ries, may be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember...
The way we were...
The way we were...

So I went to HS in the 70's and still a huge Def Leppard fan, so this is easy for me.  My song is "Rock of Ages", as in "we're gonna burn this damn place down...woo hoo...down to the ground."

(Edit: To any potential pyromaniacs...It's a metaphor...not calling for anything to be set ablaze.)
