Bring On the Kentucky Wildcats!
Would have been nice to have a rematch for some revenge but I think UK might be a better matchup if only for experience reasons. Our beloved Wolverines are practically old timers compared to all of their 1-and-dones and they won't have time to prepare for all the tricks Beilein has up his sleeve. I think the winner of this game takes the whole thing.

Injury? I was watching the other game a lot more than the Lousiville-KY game and missed something.

I hope you are right, I hope they get rattled but they just came from behind in the game and with a few minutes left to win
I think they could have made some free throws down the stretch.

They have another bigger man to fill in though... I think we drew the 3 teams with the best post presences in the tournament, and I don't like it. Morgan has shown he can more than hang. A good 7 footer does scare me though.

Glad they won. Let's see if their freshmen can successfully celebrate a huge rivalry win in the tournament and then come out ready to play great basketball in less than 48 hours. Let's see if Calipari can prepare for Beilein in time. My guesses: no and no
March 29th, 2014 at 12:38 AM ^
In the interview with Calipari after the game, he seemed like a spectator like the rest of us. He had no idea what was going on. His players just did whatever they did and he watched them do it.
March 29th, 2014 at 12:44 AM ^
I've seen enough of Calipari to know that the man knows how to coach

He has taken three different schools to the Final Four, one of them being UMass. He's definitely shady but I think he is pretty solid as a coach.
I've read enough to know that you don't know what you are talking about.

WIN THE GAME

I like this UK matchup, they only have a day to prepare for us.
March 29th, 2014 at 12:37 AM ^
Thankfully we have a week to prepare for them.

March 29th, 2014 at 12:42 AM ^
Yeah, my point was that I have more faith in Beilein to prepare for them than Calipari to prepare for us.
2 days for Beilein is like a week in ordinary coach-years.

Big blue is going down.
He means this
Michigan doesn't refer to itself as "Big Blue"

I think any of the teams left will pose a difficult challenge. We need to just stay focused an play smart ball.
March 29th, 2014 at 12:37 AM ^
but we will have more teeth

The game will have a huge impact on future recruiting - It should be a dandy - The matchup could be scintillating
March 29th, 2014 at 12:58 AM ^
Will it? We don't pay salaries like they do down there. :P

Kind of funny that we have the opportunity to advance to the Final Four by only beating the #7, 8, 11, and 15 seeds in our bracket.
I'll take it for sure, but I'd be whining like crazy if it was MSU or OSU that had that schedule
March 29th, 2014 at 12:43 AM ^
Like Ohio State did last year? And then they blew it.
Anyway, Kentucky looks to me to be very similar to Tennessee, but with a worse coach, less experience, and higher top end potential. Especially without Cauley-Stein who would really bother our guys trying to get to the rim and would probably make us even more a jump shooting team.
March 29th, 2014 at 11:17 AM ^
UK has a worse coach than Tennessee? I wouldn't exactly say that. Cuonzo Martin was nearly fired at midseason, while Calipari has multiple Final Fours and a NC ring to his record. He also just beat Rick Pitino and Gregg Marshall.
March 29th, 2014 at 12:44 AM ^
The seeding this year was just weird all around. They keep trying to say there's parity across the board but it's just not true. The big dogs eat.
March 29th, 2014 at 12:50 AM ^
But Tennessee was much better than the average 11-seed, and Kentucky has 1-seed talent. Definitely a much harder path than the seeds would indicate
March 29th, 2014 at 12:58 AM ^
the tourney shakes out such that a 2 seed makes the final four by playing a 7, 8, 11, and 15...that means that the 7 and 11 seeds are legit teams.
But M will be an underdog to an 11 and 8 seed.

Hoping for a competent ref crew to show up
March 29th, 2014 at 12:43 AM ^
Then NOT the ones who called the UK/UL game. They let UK get away with everything. UL got jobbed by the zebras big time.
March 29th, 2014 at 12:47 AM ^
They also gave Louisville an extra possession at the end with their inability to properly view a replay. I just don't get how you can get a call wrong after looking at a slow mo zoomed in replay. I mean honestly. How the fuck does that happen twice in one night by two separate crews?
March 29th, 2014 at 12:51 AM ^
The one in their game seemed much more debatable. I think it was off Van Treese too, but it was not nearly as indisputable as the one in our game.
March 29th, 2014 at 12:58 AM ^
True. I just saw the one from our game on this postgame and it is just mindboggling how they saw anything but Maymon's hand touching that last. They should make the refs submit a public report saying what they see on replays. Maybe that would make them see a little better.
Also a bunch of reporters keep asking why that charge was called "in that situation." What the fuck? If it's a foul it's a foul. It's absurd how much they try to change the rules in the final minute.
a make up call for Maimon's 4th foul, where he didn't touch our guy, but got whistled for it iMHO.
Doesn't matter at what time of the game it was, that is a charge that had to be called. Don't know why some people think the rules should go completely out the window late in the game.
when you miss 10 free throw attempts, and made five fewer than UK (which was the difference) they didn't capitalize even when the refs did make calls go their way. 13/23 FT shooting is inexcusable for any team in a tournament.
Sunday. Just announced on TBS
(edit: I'm going, too---just have to find a ticket and make the 2 1/2 hour drive.)
