Mens College Basketball regional semifinals day 1 open thread
Dayton vs. Stanford 7:15 CBS
Baylor vs. Wisconsin 7:47 TBS
UCLA vs. Florida 9:45 CBS
SDSU vs. Arizona 10:17 TBS
Frankly, Michigan is the only team in the league that can do it consistently and I wouldn't even take that bet. A point a minute is tough.
Typically coaches say "the first to 70 wins" and for the longest, in the B1G it was "the first to 60 wins."
A point a minute is easy.... that's only 40 points. Two points a minute is harder.

Michigan's only been in the 80s four times since conference play started and two of those were 80 on the nose.
Iowa had eight in that span, I'm pretty sure that's the most and it's still less than half their games.
Once cupcake season ends, games in the 80s and 90s are rare.
I'm looking forward to a UCLA upset of Florida tonight! Should be a good game.
In fact, I don't think any of the games other than Stanford/Dayton will be close tonight.
Stanford's going to win this game. You can sense it.
I'm only watching because it has a Michigan/Kansas type feel to it to me. Dayton is winning but can't pull away. Stanford is making a run, I look for Dayton to settle down and respond and Stanford to make a late push. I could see a last second shot in this game to win.
Hmm, maybe I spoke too soon. Dayton has withstood the surge.
I look for one more run from Stanford...and like I said, my prediction based on nothing is that this will be a "buzzer beater game" (or close)
If anyone was curious, Baylor's effective field goal percentage in the first half is all of 22.92%, which I think is the lowest that I've ever seen it at the half for any team that I've done calculations for this year. Wisconsin, on the other hand, has an eFG% of 53.07% right now. The only stat that really favors Baylor right now is the fewer personal fouls, which makes this a fairly clean, losing effort from the Bears thus far.
...but smart move on his part.
IMO, he can get any job in the country except maybe Duke who will hire a Coach K assistant.
Question. Is Marquette considered a mid-major?
He's a Madison native, so I'm wondering if he wants to replace Bo Ryan when he retires. That'd be quite the change at UW - going from Ryan's stodgy system to the Havoc.

I'm guessing Wisconsin would rather have someone from the Ryan tree. Saul Philips, maybe Jeter. Theyv'e got time to figure it out and I think they like the way they're doing it now.

That would make sense. Philips seems like he'd be a good hire. Jeter, I don't know - he hasn't done all that much at UWM.

As was my double post.
Nastic on the bench with 4 fouls and over 13 minutes left.
But the Trees are in the bonus with like 12 minutes left.
So be aggressive and draw fouls, hit your FT's, and they can stick around for a while.
Man, that look on the Baylor's Coachs' face was priceless.
Wisky is making the Baylor defense look like moldy swiss cheese.
I keep saying this...not sure why people haven't come to grips with it. It's just what they do.
Do you know Syracuse hasn't played a possession of man in like 3 years? Not even late in the game when they're down.
It's just what they do...I mean it got them this far, not sure if switching is going to do anything other than scream panic. But maybe it's panic time.
I think the high seeds in the last 3 games (Wisky included) are going to all win by double digits.
The first game is the only one I think can be close. The others should be snoozefests, IMO.
That said, I think ALL FOUR of tomorrow's games will be AWESOME!
UCLA will beat Florida easily.
Florida by double digits. Arizona and Wisky too.
Stanford gets their "and 1" taken away by a charge call and then Dayton goes and gets one.
Sequences like that are haymakers in basketball. The next 3-4 minutes of this game are going to tell you if you need to watch the 6-7 after.
Florida struggled against Auburn and Mississippi State and were just ok in their first two games of the tourney.
Heck of a stiff arm though. Wonder if Dayton Football needs some depth at RB...
Dayton's football doesn't give out scholarships so I'm sure they could.
Really looking forward to watching the 76ers lose 26 in a row tonight.
Would it be possible to have the option to kill the social media doodads next to the stream so I could watch more than 10 seconds of game action before the stream buffers? Thanks.
This Wisconsin game is absolutely thrilling.
I really thought Baylor would beat Wisconsin. I was apparently very wrong
Baylor's offense didn't show up. Or Wisconsin learned how to play defense. If the latter is the case, then Wisconsin might be the most dangerous team in the NCAAT.
Fuck Baylor.
That is all.
Double digit wins in all 4.
Welp, Wisconsin advances to the Elite 8. I really thought Wisconsin/Baylor would be a good game, but, it looks like all the games tonight will be snoozers.

BIG XII!!!!!!
They're doing very well for themselves.
