Mo Linguist is such a great name.
I can't decide what author it fits best with -- since Ann Arbor is near Detroit, I'm going to go with Elmore Leonard. I could easily see that name as a character in one of his books.
February 5th, 2021 at 11:33 AM ^
Yes! Mo as Chili Palmer.
Sitting in a recruits living room: "Will? Will Johnson? Look at me Will. Look at me."
February 5th, 2021 at 12:31 PM ^
Wow, you don’t hear a Chili Palmer reference everyday. Well done!

"Let's all come together for this Michigan Movement"
I already had an excellent Michigan Movement earlier this morning, so the day is going well.

Sweet merciful Christ. What was this thread about again? I seem to have gotten distracted.

Made from atomic number 14
February 5th, 2021 at 10:06 AM ^
And we already have 2 DT commits for 2022??? What is going on!
February 5th, 2021 at 10:09 AM ^
It's called actual recruiting. Not that crap that only like four coaches were doing before.
February 5th, 2021 at 10:13 AM ^
Why do I feel like this staff has accomplished more in recruiting (atleast on defense) in one month than the past staff did in a year?
February 5th, 2021 at 10:30 AM ^
Man, things got tight in a hurry. 2 committed, and we still have Will Johnson, Jaeden Gould, Dillon Tatum, Myles Rowser, and maybe Domani Jackson on the clock. How many DB's do they take this cycle?
February 5th, 2021 at 10:34 AM ^
All of them
February 5th, 2021 at 11:10 AM ^
Never forget.
February 5th, 2021 at 10:40 AM ^
As many as are required to get Ace's meter back to David Long/Lavert Hill. Or is that Brian's meter?
February 5th, 2021 at 10:45 AM ^
We were worried about how we’re going to fit all our OL targets last cycle and then ended up with 4 after missing on spindler, Dellinger, and davidkov. I say take all of them and let the chips fall where they may. Jones and Groves also have positional flexibility as RB and WR respectively
February 5th, 2021 at 11:10 AM ^
Jones is heading for Defensive Back if you watch his tape. It’s the position he has the highest ceiling in and his back pedal is smooth.
February 5th, 2021 at 10:46 AM ^
A decent amount of them are considered two way players so I could see a lot of movement happening. Domani and Will are obvious boundary corners. Rowser and Gould can step into the safety spots. Groves, Jones, and Tatum all can play both sides.

So, UM parted ways with their oldest coaches on D and all of a sudden Michigan is reeling in multiple top recruits.
Not saying this is all on DB or Zordich, but just makes you wonder wtf they were doing. Gotta give Harbaugh credit for brining in all of these younger guys.
Very exciting start with these younger coaches. Now they need to coach them up.
February 5th, 2021 at 10:43 AM ^
1. They couldn't connect with recruits in the same way
2. They didn't have the energy and hunger to go out and get the big fish
3. They had the type of players they liked and looked for "easily winnable" recruitment battles.
4. They likely trusted their own coaching abilities to develop diamonds in the rough.
5. They didn't have the recruiting network and ties to recruiting hot beds (see Mass Pipeline)

Brining does bring out the juice!
February 5th, 2021 at 11:07 AM ^
So I just want to clarify here the previous staff didn’t recruit any DBs? Let’s just have a look shall we......
Daxton Hill 5 star top 10.
Makari Paige 4 star 245 Jordan Morant 4 star 165 RJ Moten 4 star 256 Jalen Perry 4 star 200 Quinten Johnson 4 star 316 Darion Green-Warren 4 star 190
The previous staff also brought in numerous other guys in the last 2 years that were ranked below these guys like Rod Moore and Jaden McDurrows but Jaden looks like a player and I haven’t seen a lot of Moore. So before we go down this completely wrong path about the previous staff that did have shortcomings. Let’s not let facts go out the door.
Kody Jones is a 4 star ranked 279 in his class. Taylor Groves is a 4 star ranked 242 in his class.
So basically they would fall in line like this: Hill, Morant, Green-Warren, Perry, Groves, Paige, Moten, Jones, Johnson.
Just to clarify that means the previous staff recruited just in the last 2 classes 4 guys ahead of Groves and 7 ahead of Jones. I won’t even get into the classes before that which have quite a few more. Because I get the point that we are talking “what have you done for me lately”.
But the point still stands that those players listed above are just from the last two classes before this one. I am excited about the new staff but this is crazy. The previous staff signed Dax Hill literally just a few years ago. It’s not like this is two back to back top 50 players out of the blue. I’m excited for both of these guys and believe they will contribute. But pushing false info about the last staff doesn’t make sense. These players fall right in line with what Michigan was previously bringing in. Including a guy in Paige who literally contributed right away as a freshman and was playing heavily in the 2nd half of the first game.
February 5th, 2021 at 11:20 AM ^
Just to be clear.
Daxton Hill was recruited by Sherrone Moore and Chris Partridge
Jordan Morant was recruited by Chris Partridge and Anthony Campanile
Darion Green-Warren was recruited by Sherrone Moore and supported by Zordich
Makari Paige was recruited by Chris Partridge and Sherrone Moore
RJ Moten was recruited by Chris Partridge
Jalen Perry was recruited by Chris Partridge
Quinten Johnson was recruited by Chris Partridge.
The only player exclusively recruited by Zordich was Andre Seldon, who you ironically didn't even include.
February 5th, 2021 at 11:24 AM ^
Facts - ouch
February 5th, 2021 at 11:29 AM ^
JaDen McBurrows was recruited by Brian Jean Mary.
February 5th, 2021 at 11:36 AM ^
Sherrone Moore was in on a lot of those guys. It will be interesting to see how everything shakes with Moore likely focusing on the Oline with his new responsibilities.
February 5th, 2021 at 12:36 PM ^
THANK YOU FOR SAYING IT! Give coach some credit. Whew it’s about time one person said it.
February 5th, 2021 at 7:05 PM ^
When we were in the lead for Jackson, Johnson and Gould Zordich was our connection. Jackson's dad loved Zordich. Our bridge with him burned when Zordich was let go. Not saying it can't be rebuilt though but we are starting from the ground again. Gould was talking to other kids about coming to Michigan with him. That came to a halt when Zordich was let go. Starting over there too. Johnson and his dad loved Zordich too. Now we won't have to rebuild as much there because he loves Michigan so much that he's pretty much giving them every opportunity to get their act together because he wants them to give him a reason to commit.
February 5th, 2021 at 11:43 AM ^
Maybe it’s not technically true, but it feels like it... and getting 4* athletes in the secondary is huge.
The contrast with the previous defensive regime is startling.
I also wonder if Jay has found a position that plays to his strengths. I’d be interested to hear from insiders/other programs if Michigan’s notoriously disorganized recruiting is getting shaped together.
I was quite skeptical about the staff changes. This is a good sign.
February 5th, 2021 at 12:59 PM ^
I haven't done any research on this, but it feel like previous staff rushes at the end, often missing out on bigger named recruits who have made up their mind long ago. Yeah, we still are pulling in top 10ish classes, but it really feels like those come RIGHT at the end. An example is Donovan Edwards. A guy that should have been a LOCK to UM long before he signed. I think the way this staff has been acting, they would've locked the commitment long before.
February 5th, 2021 at 1:13 PM ^
Its called results........
Now about that development aspect...... again, let' see the results....
February 5th, 2021 at 10:47 AM ^
Credit to the staff, putting together a top 10 class after what happened this season would be impressive.
Looking at our commits, even our 3 stars are: a monster OT that might need some development, a local DT, and a borderline 4-star TE... hard to complain about any of those guys being in the class.
February 5th, 2021 at 10:49 AM ^
Not "hard to complain" for some members of this Board.
February 5th, 2021 at 10:09 AM ^
Damn I love this. Young and fresh recruiters struttin' through Tennessee like it's our own backyard.
February 5th, 2021 at 10:10 AM ^
So all the posts complaining about how Harbaugh and Warde were cratering M's recruiting with contract negotiations weren't spot on?
February 5th, 2021 at 11:34 AM ^
Not many of these guys were on Michigan's staff when those negotiations were taking place. To me it seems like getting killer recruiters is paying off regardless of how long it took Jim to hear back from the NFL.
February 5th, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
I think the point is that we don't have a clue as to what's going on in the AD.
February 5th, 2021 at 11:59 AM ^
OMG. An intelligent and honest post
February 5th, 2021 at 12:10 PM ^
No no no. That goes against the idea that everything is Warde's fault so we need to ignore this
