Your prediction - Who scores the first TD this season?
I'm going to go outside the box and say it'll be Patterson on a QB scramble up the middle. After Shea hits 3-4 passes on the drive, MTSU's defense is going to be running around like headless chickens looking for receivers, which will leave a huge lane up the middle for Patterson to waltz into the endzone.
In fact, my gut is telling me that Michigan is going to have an amazingly weird day for QBs and scoring, like 4 rushing TDs between Patterson and McCaffrey. Call it a hunch.
Or punt return. Because if we kick off first we won't be receiving a kick until the second 1/2.
I don't expect we'll score any touchdowns this season
The BPONE is strong with this one.
So, are you saying that Quinn Nordin and Jake Moody will combine to set the world record for most field goals in a season with 157, as the Michigan Wolverines average over 31 points a game in winning the national championship without ever scoring a touchdown, and that Nordin and Moody will share the Heisman Trophy?
I love the clip; each time I see it, I smile; curious, does anyone remember the outcome of that play?
According to ESPN (this is from the 2011 season):
4th & 1 at MICH 42
(6:28 - 2nd) Denard Robinson rush for 4 yards to the Mich 46 for a 1ST down.
EDIT: Wanted to check the UFR for this play, and it actually got it's own Picture Pages: https://mgoblog.com/content/picture-pages-fourth-and-fun
I’m glad we converted...it would have been a very arrogant move if we didn’t convert...just saying
I realize this game was eight years ago, and we won. But man, I look at that block Smith puts on the end man on the LOS, with a safety set up in the hole. Denard cuts it up and gets 4 yards, for an easy first down, but just as Smith is engaging, I can't help but look at the lineup and feel like if he bounces that outside, he takes it to the house.
Go with the obvious choice: Nico on a faaaaaaaade
If you want spice, I'll give you spice.
Michigan rolls its way down to the 17 with ease via multiple inside zones, which Turner churns and burns for 10+ yards at a time. We throw a tunnel screen to DPJ, who catches, turns, and fumbles as he's blindsided by the MTSU middle linebacker. Four different MTSU defenders fail to pick up the ball--Yakety Sax is blasting through the stadium speakers at this point--and it's quickly making its way to the end zone. Ceasar Ruiz has been lightly jogging behind the play for quite some time now, but he happens upon the ball as he crosses the goal line, scoring a certified fat guy touchdown and burning the hashtag #BigCeesInSpace into our minds forever.
McCaffrey.
... receiving a pass from Patterson. Let’s start the new era of 2 QB offenses off with a bang.
Collins on a 44 yard td pass
ben mason FB dive
Ambrey on a pick or kickoff return.
In a headscratcher, after 2 straight Michigan runs up the middle to open the season, MTSU is gonna leave Nico Collins wide open for a 69 yard TD toss.
Shea is gonna have a stat line of 14-17, 287 YDS, 4TDs, 0 INT, 6 rushes 89 YDS, 2TDs and the September Heisman is his.
McCaffrey comes in and posts 8-15 for 122 YDS, 1TD, 1 INT, 9 rushes 113 YDS, 1 TD
Michigan wins 69-3 (Charbonnet scores an 11 yard TD as well).

Nate Schoenle on a back-shoulder fade over Giddy Potts.
hope they don't line that guy up at kicker because he was hitting 3s from everywhere last time I saw him play
It's obvious, Michigan will score first in their game.
Miami's(ytm) DJ Ivey on a pick6.
I say it will come down to whoever is the top RB coming out of fall camp. Whether that's Wilson, Turner, or Charbonnet, that man will get the first offensive TD.
DeeJay Dallas
DPJ after a 3 and out from the defense
DPJ from Shea on the first offensive play of the season. He’s not Moorehead, but I have a suspicion that Gattis will do like he did and make the first offensive play of the game a bomb. Hitting it is a bonus, with the intent being to get this safeties to respect those vertical routes. PSU did that against us twice (IIRC). Neither hit, but Shea will connect with DPJ vs MTSU.
This will be come a hallmark of Gattis’ offense, I believe.
Go Blue!
Probably someone in the Miami vs Florida game
That was gooood....I see what you did...8-0
Sainstrill on wheel route
If its through the air, I hope its to Black, after the shit luck that poor kid has had the past couple seasons.
#SPEIGHTINSPACE
So some kind of slow developing dive from the 1 foot line... by someone awkward looking
I am going to say whoever handles the opening kickoff against MTSU or the 1st punt return. Immediate splash!
After some research, I've found that the answer is Khalfani Muhammad. He ran for a TD in the hall of fame game last week.
Tru Wilson
Thinking back over many years, the first touchdown of the season has rarely ever been flashy. Most of the time it's short...usually a QB sneak, a short run or dive into the end zone.
The only "wow" first scores of the season I can think of are when Chris Perry ran 50 yards up the middle untouched against Washington in 2002, Desmond's backward diving TD catch against Boston College in 1991 and the truly WTF moment when Scott Dreisbach kept it and ran 82 yards down the sideline to the house against Illinois in 1996.
Honorable mentions go to Harbaugh's QB keeper against Notre in 1985 and Speight's TD bomb to Tariq Black two years ago against Florida.
I can't create new posts but some friends of mine that I work with at the AFB reported that Meyer is still attending OSU practices. Just a lil nugget I wanted to share and then witness the comments.
Dwumfour and it'll blowup the internet.
Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I'm surprised no one has said Christian Turner. Tru will probably be the starter going into the first game but I think we'll see a lot of Turner as well as Charbonnet continues to get up to speed.
Christian Turner will break a run (as he basically did against Florida) for the first TD of the season.
Tarik Black.
Tarik Black 75- yard reception on the first play from scrimmage.
He then promptly breaks both feet being mobbed by his teammates in the end zone.
Yikes...that would be some really bad karma
The kicker scores the first TD on the opening kickoff, on opening day, on a fumble at the 20 for a scoop and score.
Black. That young man has been through the ringer the last couple years. I think he’s going to have a great year.
DPJ on a pass from Shea to cap a 76 yard scoring drive in 5 plays.
Nico or Ronnie Bell!
Ben Mason
