Purdue at Indiana tonight
Purdue at Indiana, 7 PM EST on ESPN2
Figured some may be interested in watching this game because of the implications. Michigan, MSU and Purdue are all tied for first in big ten. Michigan State just lost a main player in Ward, potentially providing Michigan the edge between those two teams.
We really need Purdue to lose a game or two down the stretch to give us some margin of error. Tonight in Indiana's arena offers a chance.

Edwards and morgan are pathetic today; both teams' best player.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:00 PM ^
Fuck that Cline shot
February 19th, 2019 at 9:01 PM ^
Ugh IU is going to bleed this away
February 19th, 2019 at 9:04 PM ^
Is IU serious right now....
February 19th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
Ugh Romeo
Lulz fucking Haarms. Want to say over the back and even though it wouldn't get called there ever, I'm not sure it really was OTB...Haarms just has really long stupid windmill arms
February 19th, 2019 at 9:17 PM ^
Yeah, if there was a foul, it was a shove before the putback. I'm not really sure he made contact with him in the air -- I think he just outreached the Indiana player.
Hats off to Archie Miller, though, for apparently forgetting to tell his team to foul Edwards when he started to drive to the basket. Indiana had a foul to give and should have been able to force Purdue to start over out-of-bounds with 7 seconds left and the score still tied instead of letting him get the shot off in the first place.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:22 PM ^
Faster fall from grace in recent memory than Archie Miller? Was he this bad of an in-game coach at Dayton? My goodness.
Dude will probably get another year but anything other than a decent seed in the 2020 NCAA Tournament and he is done.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:29 PM ^
Oofff didn't know that. Missed play there for sure, knowing full well it was going to be in Edwards hands. If he pulled up to jack up more garbage, let him, if he drove like he did foul. Man oh man.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:12 PM ^
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhrggghhhhhhh
February 19th, 2019 at 9:13 PM ^
Purdue is literally just Edwards lmao
February 19th, 2019 at 9:42 PM ^
Edwards almost lost them the game. He was terrible.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:14 PM ^
Laughing at Indiana with a .500 record (4-11 in conference) with two of the top 10 players in the conference is hilarious and a small consolation prize. But man, we needed them to beat Purdue tonight.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:15 PM ^
dammit
February 19th, 2019 at 9:15 PM ^
Not a bad look at all....nice play setup... but the shooter should've gotten his ass down court faster and set for a closer shot.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:20 PM ^
Pretty similar to our play against Houston - but a worse result.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:19 PM ^
This is why I cant stand refs or referee apologists. In the 1st half that's an over the back. After reading the Donaghy article on ESPN, bring in robots
February 19th, 2019 at 9:36 PM ^
I don't think B1G refs are great by any stretch, but I don't feel there's a big conspiracy against Michigan either.
Basketball officiating is really subjective; there's so much open to interpretation and judgment.
For example, guards who take short steps and look comfortable with the ball rarely get called for traveling after 3 steps, while a dorky 7 footer gets called for lifting a pivot foot while starting to dribble.
My personal preference is for there to be relatively few whistles and let the players play. I don't see how robots could officiate a game, and IMO there are already too many stoppages for review.
At minimum, I hope for some consistency, and like to hope/believe college refs aren't on the take.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:43 PM ^
I don't think Haas used Morgan at all for that rebound. He's literally just seven inches taller than him and can reach over
February 19th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
I think he shoved him in the back to get position, prior to jumping, which could easily have been called but which wasn't egregious. I don't think he made contact on the actual putback itself.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:21 PM ^
Damn. Needed IU to win that. With three games left against MSU and Maryland, not to mention traveling to Minnesota for a classic trap game, there is really no room for error anymore.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:23 PM ^
I really wish Michigan had the luck of some of these teams on the road. Iowa hits a bank three off the side of the backboard at an impossible angle the other night off a tipped pass and then this ending here where Cline hits his one legged fly to the right bounce off the rim three and a Haarms perfect tip over the back of a great blockout.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:25 PM ^
Eh Ill take and im sure Purdue and Iowa would take Burke's shot after Kansas meltdown and Poole's shot last year over in conference luck.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:39 PM ^
I'm just more or less talking about this year and our road luck in general. We've had plenty of shots go against us the last several years. Wisconsin and Northwestern have both hit some last second ones against us. Those two you referred to are what makes March Madness exactly what it is referred to.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:42 PM ^
I mean, we've had some pretty awesome post season luck to make up for road struggles. Chatman shot in the BTT, Burke 3, Poole 3, Morgan charge against Cuse and Tennessee the year after. I really wouldn't trade any of those for a road win against Rutgers or a home win against Purdue
February 19th, 2019 at 10:02 PM ^
Can we have both? Lol, I'm with you...I'll take the postseason luck
February 19th, 2019 at 9:23 PM ^
Wow, i tuned in for just the last minute; Indiana sure threw that one away.
Purdue seems to eek out a lot of close ones. Dammit.

February 19th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
That's a pretty tall order. I sure hope we beat Sparty and UMd on the road, but boy, that's a lot to ask.
If we win the regular season title we'll certainly have earned it.
February 19th, 2019 at 11:06 PM ^
There are no tiebreakers for the Big Ten championship. If there are multiple teams with the same record, they will all be declared champions, no matter who has beaten whom during the season.
The only place that Michigan's head-to-head victory will matter is in Big Ten Tournament seeding.
February 20th, 2019 at 9:10 AM ^
My point still stands. Win the rest of the games and they're champs. It's that simple. It's Michigan's title to lose. I don't care if they're considered co-champions with Purdue. If we and Purdue finish with the same record and are both crowned conference champs, everyone will know who the real champ is simply because we beat Purdue in the regular season.
February 20th, 2019 at 8:46 AM ^
Well you're not wrong, but winning out is a tall order at best. Three road games still left, all against tournament teams (MSU, Maryland) or desperate teams fighting to make it into the tournament (Minnesota). Not to mention having to play MSU at home this Sunday, which will be tough with or without Nick Ward.
Purdue's toughest game remaining is at Minnesota. Hardly a gimme of course, but the rest of their schedule is Northwestern, Nebraska, Illinois, and OSU. Only one of those teams has any decent shot of making the tournament (OSU), and that game happens to be at Purdue, so Purdue has probably a better shot of winning the Big Ten than we do. They're not necessarily a better team, but they have a far easier closing schedule.
As far as us having already beat Purdue, that only matters when it comes to BTT seeding. We do have the tiebreaker there, but they can still win a share of the Big Ten if they tie our conference record. No easy way to say it: losing to Penn State last week was a massive blow to our conference title hopes. Still attainable, but there is almost no margin for error now.
February 20th, 2019 at 10:05 AM ^
Purdue's B1G Schedule was front-loaded with tough games; Michigan's is back-loaded. Despite the unbalanced 20 game B1G-slate, Purdue's and Michigan's schedules are very similar in difficulty.

Michigan hasn't lost any of the remaining five games yet, but Michigan did make it difficult on itself with the stinker at PSU.
February 19th, 2019 at 9:38 PM ^
I hate Indiana's structure of their team so much. Morgan has been totally average in big ten play, and is not an effective center at 6'8. Take the game winning tip in as example. It's not over the back when the guy you're guarding is literally seven inches taller than you and can just reach over you. I know they have a good class coming in, but Miller will totally waste it like he wasted Langford. They should cut their losses now and find someone who won't crater their program for the next five years

Maryland choking at Iowa.

Maryland melting down vs Iowa
February 19th, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
People at IU were seriously considering getting rid of Archie in the last couple of weeks. I have to imagine after tonight’s game that the seat will only get hotter. Most people I know involved with IU athletics think this is the worst coached IU team of their lifetime.
February 19th, 2019 at 10:38 PM ^
Easily the worst
February 19th, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
C'mon Hawkeyes!!!
Wow dumb foul Cowan. Wonder if Maryland is about to pull an Iowa over the Iowa Hawkeyes...
February 19th, 2019 at 10:12 PM ^
Ugh Tyler Cook needed to be in there more, rebounding...versus watching Fernando easily tip that in over leas athletic and smaller player from Iowa
February 19th, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
Iowa's luck runs out.
February 19th, 2019 at 11:11 PM ^
Definitely better for UM if Maryland won over Iowa, Nebraska however is going to need a deep tourney run to get in after tonight's loss at PSU.
February 19th, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
Wow, B1G hoops is really exciting this year. Both IU-Purdue and Iowa-UMd were nail-biters.
Wish Purdue had lost, alas.
February 20th, 2019 at 8:43 AM ^
It would have been better for Michigan had IU won, but I had to laugh that it was Haarms who tipped in the winning shot after all the abuse he was getting from the IU fans throughout the game: F**k You Haarms, clap clap, clap clap clap.
