Some quotes:

Mattison said he wanted to be a coordinator, which played a big part in his decision to leave his role as Michigan's defensive line coach to come to Ohio State.

"Coach Harbaugh was great," Mattison said, about his decision to leave Ohio State. Said Harbaugh understood that he wanted to be a coordinator. The hardest part of leaving Michigan, Mattison said, was calling his players and letting them know.

Mattison described Ohio State and Michigan as "two of the greatest programs in college football."

Interesting comments.  Thanks for sharing.   Even with the disappointment in learning of this when announced some time ago the picture of GMAT in this OSU sweater is surreal and bewilderingly strange to me.  Can understand him wanting to become a D coordinator again.  Glad it was hard for him to call the players but geez, it should have been.   The sweetest revenge would be to run off about 10 wins in a row against OSU, but right now would be quite pleased to win next year. Will wish him well with everything but football for now, and well with everything including football when he leaves OSU.

#1 key for success - recruiting.

UM has added 4 coaches in their 30's since January 1.  Ties to NJ, Ohio, west coast, and DelMarVa.

Replaced Mattison, Washington, Hamilton & McElwain

I, for one, am impressed.

FYI

Ryan Day called Jim Harbaugh in December before hiring Greg Mattison and Al Washington. Wanted to ask permission to pursue them.

I did not know that.

FWIW

Mattison was at Michigan for the last 8 years.  Can anyone name an assistant coach currently in Big Ten for longer than 8 years?  He left for a promotion for a better job to a program that is achieving greater success.  No hate from me.

I keep looking at that pink shirt, the logo and the presser background. You’d think after all those years even HE would want to puke. I guess not.
