Not trolling, and to be fair…

Not trolling, and to be fair I didn't make that distinction.  So that's my bad.  So this guy works for the NCAA and is the one purportedly leaking the information?  Isn't that grounds for action against him if true?

Certainly could be, but my…

Certainly could be, but my money is on someone getting involved in Vegas.  College football in general, every major decision is driven by money.  My guess (which is what anyone here or anywhere has at this point) is Vegas tipped the NCAA off as they have people crunching numbers constantly that something was strange.  NCAA started reaching out to schools, now most of the B1G and some others are submitting info.

I can be completely wrong, but at this point nobody knows what is right.  It's speculation at the very best.  Which leaves my logical reasoning to take me to money being the motivator.

Vegas is going to drive a lot now that gambling is pretty much legal everywhere.

I've ready about 13,000…

I've ready about 13,000 comments here over the past 3 days that said this was OSU, or MSU, or Rutgers, or Tennessee, or Georgia, or Vegas.

Back to the drawing board.

OSU can pay recruits…

OSU can pay recruits whatever they want to bring them VISIT campus.

This is not even remotely true.  Gene Smith pointed out that he has had requests to be paid for visits because other schools are doing it.  FSU is one heavily rumored to do so.

There are 140 (now 141)…

There are 140 (now 141) comments on this thread and about 80% of them are people acting like they actually know what is happening when they don't.  It's human nature to have a thought, and then want to tell people in case you might be right.

I agree with you up to…

I agree with you up to firing the HC.  How can you fire a HC that regardless of what the team does is about to win his 14th consecutive B1G COY award?

Youngstown State was a late…

Youngstown State was a late fill in for a game that was scheduled with San Jose State.  Not a great jump up, but also not a FCS school.

Western KY is a bowl team every year, probably 8-9 win team.  For reference, they smoked the USF team that battled Alabama.  They also return the #1 passing offense in the country with a veteran QB and legit WR talent.  #2 offense overall last year.

Then there is Notre Dame.  You are saying it "probably trumps" the UM schedule to this point....you have to really have some Maize colored glasses to not see that WKU and ND are two opponents on a different level than what you have seen.

I'm all for waiting to let the season play out before jumping to conclusions in the non-conference, but you have to really be stretching to act like ND and WKU wouldn't wipe the floor with your entire non-conference schedule.

That and a .202 batting…

That and a .202 batting average in the minors.

Well considering this…

Well considering this article is posted by a staff member on this blog, and that article is some random poster posting his top 30 in a forum, it's a pretty big stretch to act like that is 11W content.  Maybe we can dig into the forums here and find something more comparable to the "article" you just linked on 11W.

It's fun to take digs, but comparing a forum post to a staff article and trying to pass them off as the same thing is a waste of time.

OSU fan here, I think all of…

OSU fan here, I think all of this is bogus.  I think the NCAA occupies its time with focusing on these menial things to look busy while ignoring the larger issues because they have to protect their cash cows.

However, I must take this moment to point out how these were actual rules broken, rules put in place to monitor every program and level the playing field (I know what a joke right?).

But 4 years ago, people on this website wanted Chase Young suspended for the rest of a season for accepting a plane ticket for his girlfriend to fly to a bowl game (which he paid back before the story even broke).

A lot of handwringing about how minor these rules are that Harbaugh "lied" about (which I don't think is the case).  I just find it ironic that people wanted a player benched for the rest of a season for something like what Young was accused of.

I loved the piece.  It gave…

I loved the piece.  It gave an honest look into a kid that loved playing football, loved having the closeness of having a team around him, but was not the "first in, last out" guy during practice and the offseason that most guys are.  The kid lived the Varsity Blues movie through his time in the NFL, and it wasn't until he was around professionals that he realized that wasn't going to fly any more.

My biggest takeaway was how quickly he wrote his buddy off that literally ran a business for him through his times at aTm.  I almost felt bad for the guy, he's like here I am dedicating every waking minute to this dude and then someone probably came in and said "hey you need to distance yourself from this guy since he was so tied into the payments" and Johnny wrote him off.  It was talked about briefly, then his friend didn't make an appearance in the film again.  Manziel did not touch on that subject.

Either way, great film and I agree it's a great continuation of the series.  Malice at the Palace definitely hooked me.

That's my thinking as well. …

That's my thinking as well.  While Tate may be completely in control of his thoughts currently, things like this can have a lingering effect and trigger issues down the road, especially if things are brushed under the rug so to speak to try and move on with your life.  I'm sure Day has already and will continue to make sure he knows every option is on the table for him, the help is there however he needs it.

OSU is probably the best…

OSU is probably the best place for him to be right now to get that support.  The program is run by a guy that lost a father at a young age and has put a lot of work into focusing on mental health.  There are guys within and around the program that have dealt with loss in similar fashion, two current players lost their mothers.

As a Buckeye fan, I hope the kid takes as much time as he needs to process this the right way and move forward with his life without it weighing on him.  Football can wait if needed.

The narrative that Georgia,…

The narrative that Georgia, Alabama and OSU are elite at developing draft picks is spurious. They simply get the most Top 50 and Top 100 recruits, who are the most likely to get drafted, usually in the early rounds, by the NFL. Most of the guys they "get" drafted would have been drafted if they had played at Youngstown State.

I mean, you may think this way, but The Athletic did a pretty extensive dive into this and basically came out with the conclusion that your comments are just your point of view and not based in fact at all.  In fact, OSU develops a higher percentage of 3 stars into draft picks than anyone else. Alabama and OSU are both in the top ten of developing 5, 4, and 3 stars into NFL talent.   Here's the link:

I was reading that comment…

I was reading that comment thinking the same thing.  Yeah if you are hiring a guy for a data entry job low level at a large corporation, you probably aren't checking their social media.  If you hire a guy to help direct recruiting 14-18 year old kids in todays world, you probably should consider that half of their job will be using social media to promote the program.

Not doing so is like saying if you are hiring a bus driver, no need to do an extensive search on their driving record because when you hire a waitress you don't do a check on their driving record.  When you hire someone, you make sure they are clean and capable to handle the duties they will be assigned.  Using Twitter to try and convince high school kids (many of which are not white) while having a trail of racist propaganda (liked or tweeted or re-tweeted, whatever I don't Twitter) is not going to work out well.

You underestimate humans…

You underestimate humans power to get paid as much as possible to do as little as possible.  Check large corporations, most could cut their staff in half and get the same production if demanded, but they don't.  Hell off the top of my head I can think of 25% of the people at my company that if they left, we wouldn't have to replace.

Humans will always find a way.

I just watched the Waco…

I just watched the Waco series a couple weeks ago.  I remember the event being on the news as a kid.  After watching that series, I now know I had no clue what happened down there.  The footage was ridiculous, it was an absolute war zone.

This is why I never joined a fraternity.  A year of "bonding" to be accepted into the fraternity followed by a hand sticking out waiting for you to put a check in it.

This blog needs about a two…

This blog needs about a two month break from posting of "breaking" information that is pure speculation and normally originates on Twitter.  It's amazing how much discussion on here is people talking in circles based off of BS tweets by people like this just trying to boost their online status.  Then it gets posted here, and people go and click on it, and it drives more traffic.

All you need to know is the timeline:

Posts something an hour ago painting a completely wrong picture of the situation.
15 minutes later says the guy calling him out is right.
Posts another tweet backtracking by saying to be fair UM has done well under Warde
Posts right after saying he just talked to a UM official.

This should tell you how much of an "insider" he is.  His process is blast whatever BS info comes his way on twitter, get called out, THEN talk to UM about it and clarify.  This guy and the rest at every other school like him should be cut off.

In addition to those losses,…

In addition to those losses, they have beat 9-1 Clemson, 6-4 Syracuse, and 9-1 UNC.  Their losses were bad, but leaving out a 9-1 UNC team (only loss to ND) with a dark horse heisman QB candidate is an odd way to prove a point.

ND has been dreadful, but…

ND has been dreadful, but they have also beat the top 3 ACC teams.  They are a very weird case this year.

The first rule about the initial CFP rankings is you don't get worked up over the initial CFP rankings.  Every scenario that has been thought through is going to be wrong except for possibly 1.

As a OSU fan, I disliked Gardner greatly, just because of his talent level and grit, he made me nervous.  But after that game, I gained respect for Gardner that I hold at a higher level than a lot of OSU players.  If I had a favorite Wolverine, he is it.

An OSU could very easily…

An OSU could very easily lose in Happy Valley. Im hesitant to outright call the upset but there are a lot of stats you can point to that can make the case.

Ok I'm curious, what are they?

I'm beginning to have anxiety about the current condition of the mentioned shutters.

Asking 18-22 year old kids…

Asking 18-22 year old kids to completely flip their script in the last game of the season is how you lose.  Coaches "saving" parts of their playbook for the last game of the season would result in losses before that game.

The coaches go out on Sunday, and prepare for the game the following weekend.  They aren't using part of their practice week to run a super top secret playbook, then forgetting it come game time.  And if they did, do you think they would execute a new script of plays well in the last game of the season that they have never used all year?

Harbaugh is preparing for PSU.  Day is preparing for Iowa during the bye week.  If Harbaugh spends this week working on the super top secret playbook for OSU, he is going to lose to PSU.  If Day spends the next 2 weeks working on his super top secret playbook for UM, he will lose to Iowa or struggle mightily at the very least.

I got a strong Wally Holland…

I got a strong Wally Holland from Little Big League vibe from this, picking out a random stat that will be accomplished a few hours before others.

An interesting side note; that’s the 14th one-run game for the Tigers already this season. Tops for any team north of the Mason-Dixon Line, whose home games are not played in a dome.

Last year though, he was 6th in the American League in hitting right-handers he was facing for the first time, after the seventh inning, at home.

Lou has hit .416 lifetime versus Hanley in the month of September in even years.

Georgia was a 27.5 point…

Georgia was a 27.5 point favorite against Missouri and won in the final minutes taking the lead for the first time in the game.

Georgia was a 42.5 point favorite against Kent State and won by 17 after Kent State getting to within 10 in the 4th quarter.

I'm not saying Georgia can't turn it around, if it was a single game I would shrug it off.  But usually when these types of questionable performances string together, there are reasons for it and areas teams can exploit.

Don’t think they could…

Don’t think they could handle Georgia at all.

Have you watched Georgia the past two weeks?  I'd give OSU, Clemson, and UM a good shot against Georgia right now.  They are not the same team from last year.

I love reading these…

I love reading these opponent watches, that line was one of the top I have read here.

Good luck, hang in there.  Wish you the best in navigating the storm.  I was there for Charley, there was panic but then it turned out not that bad.  Looks like you won't have that luxury on this one.

I lived on Longboat Key.  We…

I lived on Longboat Key.  We were always protected by some unknown source, the hurricanes always went up the coast north, or across the state well south.  Some weird vortex that didn't allow direct hits.  The fact that this is going that way is terrifying.  Longboat Key is exposed, and they just freaking re-built the Pier after it was destroyed a while back!

He is talking to Larry…

He is talking to Larry Johnson regularly and was at the OSU/ND game.  His offer will come soon.

CSU is coming off a banger…

CSU is coming off a banger of a year at 3-9, 2-6 in conference, and a 2nd to last place finish in their division in the MWC.  I would wait for a better sample to decide if the UM DL is going to be a hanging out in opponents backfield much.

Sleeping on Tuimoloau is…

Sleeping on Tuimoloau is dangerous.  Dude arrived on campus in August of last year.  This is his first offseason.  He played more than he probably should have last year coming in that late, but he is going to be hard to keep off the field.

I wouldn't argue your points…

I wouldn't argue your points at all.  My point was more for the pre-season rankings we are commenting on.  The coaches/AP poll discussions and these individual player discussions.  How many players in the top 100 players in football do you expect a top 10/15 team to have going into the pre-season when it's being voted on by people who aren't in tune with what is happening on the team?  That's all I'm saying....it's all about perspective.  You think there are players much more valuable (and there probably are), it's just that Joe from Atlanta that was part of this poll does not know that.

Outside perspective vs inside perspective is my point.

12-2

That's the last 10 years, Harbaugh was coach for 8 of them.  The 12-2 is the outlier, not the norm.  That's why people outside of the UM fanbase are skeptical to think that a team with two new coordinators are going to light the world on fire 2 years in a row.  I'm not saying it's correct, but it is logical for those that don't know the inner workings of the program to be hesitant to think they can do it again.

I personally don't know what to expect of UM this year.  I read enough here to know that the talent is there that they could come in undefeated to Columbus and do some damage.  I also am skeptical that two brand new coordinators (even though one was in the program last year and one apparently will continue the same scheme as his predecessor) can replicate or surpass a season that was probably the best season at UM since the late 90's.  It can definitely happen, but question marks loom.

All in all, I think this season is going to be one hell of a ride for most teams in the conference.

"Hate watch" is a new term,…

"Hate watch" is a new term, and I'm going to steal it.  The hate watchers of OSU and UM are the reason the B1G is about to lock down the craziest TV contract possible.  I admittedly hate watch UM, hell I have an account on here.

You continue to hate watch OSU, I'll continue to hate watch UM, and CBS/NBC/Big Ten Network will still keep writing the checks.  It's like donating to the athletic department without having to do anything other than turn on the TV.

Through May 31st the average…

Through May 31st the average annual deal for football players through NIL is $3711.  That's $3,711 PER YEAR.  I think people are out of touch on the amount of money that most athletes will get.  Certainly not enough to justify paying the 86th person on the roster $40K per year to cover tuition and room a board.

I'd include psu too if franklin wasn't there to jack it up

PSU fans probably saying the same exact thing about UM/Harbaugh:

Frankin PSU career:  67-34, .663 win percentage, 3-4 in bowl games, 1 losing season, 1 conference championship

Harbaugh UM career:  61-24, .718 win percentage, 1-5 in bowl games, 1 losing season, 1 conference championship

The two programs are a lot closer together than either want to admit under their current head coaches.

Very few NIL deals are going…

Very few NIL deals are going to have huge money attached.  The kids that have already performed to the point that they are highly sought after are not going to be shopping around to switch schools over an extra $200k on a NIL deal, and screw up their path to possible $30 million contracts in the NFL.  A guy isn't leaving Iowa State to go make an extra $200K for one year at aTm to have to learn an entire playbook and earn playing time again if he is already on a path to be a top 3 rounds NFL draft pick by staying at Iowa State one more year.
