One of the greatest games of all time and your first thought is to bitch about the coin flip? Come on man.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:28 PM ^
it was a great game, no doubt! but can't help but think the outcome would have been different if the OT coin flip had gone the other way - and that makes the it a less than satisfying conclusion.

He's right, the OT rules in the NFL are lame.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:21 PM ^
In the old days, they could have won it on a field goal on their first possession.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:21 PM ^
Only if D can't prevent a TD. FG, game keeps going.

What decided this game was Dee Ford being massively offside when Brady threw his 3rd interception of the game.
The difference isn't Brady who is an all-world player. The difference is that the Patriots so rarely rarely beat themselves--this year's Pittsburgh game being a noted exception. KC actually made the one play in the 4th quarter to win it only to have them snatch it from themselves. Why is Berry bouncing inside on 3rd and 10? Is he supposed to do that? Or is he doing his own damn thing? I actually don't know, but my guess is the latter giving Gronk an incredibly easy slant play.
The "Do You Job" mantra sounds easy, but the Patriots are the one NFL team that actually fucking does it consistently. That, along with an all-world QB, excellent schemes, and playing in the division of shit is how you get to 9 Super Bowls in 19 years.

I hope the Pats win, so Tom has as many Super bowl Championships as the Steeler franchise.
Oh would that be a fun talking point in this neck o' the woods.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:59 PM ^
Didn't the saints win the coin toss in the other game?
January 21st, 2019 at 12:54 PM ^
It was the official's fault that Brees got hit and threw a pick in OT, too.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:19 PM ^
What a football game. Now here’s to Tom winning the Super Bowl só he can retire on the highest of notes
January 20th, 2019 at 10:58 PM ^
If he wins, he needs to just walk away.
I always thought that Jordan should have done that, but he came back for a forgettable, and unnecessary, second act.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:21 PM ^
It would be more interesting if the NFL had the same OT as college football. Or just let the game go on until a team wins after every quarter of play. Between both these two teams the one who got the coin flip was going to win!

I don’t recall ever seeing a commentator diagnose so many key plays pre-snap as Tony Romo just did. It was like the the game was on tape delay and he’d already seen the play unfold. Impressive!
January 20th, 2019 at 10:23 PM ^
Seriously dude was amazing
January 20th, 2019 at 10:27 PM ^
Yep, very quality stuff.
"Alright Gronk is gonna chip, this running back is gonna chip, and Tom will look for edelman over the middle..."
/Everything literally happens

absolutely. i'm a fan. he really gives an insight into the game that oddly enough hasn't been around since John Madden left the booth. Madden as crazy as he was could diagnose and analyze plays faster and more concisely than just about anyone.
January 21st, 2019 at 10:30 AM ^
...and the defense, on the field, had to have more than a clue as well. That is why the game is predominantly about execution...all the games...matters not what the sport. Make the play.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:34 PM ^
He was awesome. Early on I thought he was definitely on the KC bandwagon but as the game went on I couldn’t believe how many times he’d call the play pre snap and he was right on every time. Made it so much more easy to watch each play unfold.

Game was so good, thought I died and went to Heaven! Go Brady and company!
January 20th, 2019 at 10:26 PM ^
I wish one day that Michigan will beat OSU in this fashion!
January 20th, 2019 at 10:27 PM ^
He is definitely the greatest of all time! Go Tom!!! Win that Super Bowl!!!

With a net worth of about 6.6 billion

Bob Kraft is about 7' 2" when standing on his wallet

The team that wins the coin toss has an advantage only if they score a TD. If they don’t their opponent can win the game with a FG.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:53 PM ^
and then in the regular season it’s even worse. First team that gets the ball can win with just a FG.
January 20th, 2019 at 11:57 PM ^
That's simply not true.

Cheifs picked apart playing cover 1 all game. Hmmm where have I seen that movie before.
January 21st, 2019 at 9:20 AM ^
I think it’s hilarious that people say we are trying to play offense like the Pats. Brady attempted over 40 passes in a game they led for much of its duration. The Pats have been all about a nearly unstoppable short passing game for nearly a decade now. They run spread formations and then Brady gets the ball out quickly. Yes they run the ball too but when they arent running they are looking more Mike Leach than Harbaugh.
January 22nd, 2019 at 10:56 AM ^
They also ran the ball a bunch because their defense kept stopping the Chiefs. Our defense against OSU? Not so much.

Crazy Game...
Brady is doing stuff that defies even his accomplishments... I thought he was the GOAT 3 superbowls ago... That's as ridiculous as it sounds

God loved a G.O.A.T.
