The last time we had a commitment from a Farmington player, David Reese II decommitted in favor of Florida.
January 19th, 2019 at 4:50 PM ^
I think you mean to say Michigan decommitted in favor of Devin Bush.
January 19th, 2019 at 5:02 PM ^
I must have missed this, but how the heck did you end up with negative eleventy billion points?
January 19th, 2019 at 5:07 PM ^
Because he got an ice cream cone tattooed on his face.
January 19th, 2019 at 5:16 PM ^
That's cold.
January 19th, 2019 at 6:34 PM ^
It was in a thread that mixed in politics / religion. I'll say that much.I did the deed, in his case.
January 19th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
I don't remember what I said. But I do remember being surprised a LSA took such drastic action. Since I have had to file for numerous bankruptcies, and sell my body to randoms on craigslist. It has been rough to ay the least. Life is hard without mgopoints.
January 19th, 2019 at 8:53 PM ^
I always knew you were one one of those awesome gay, black republicans.
January 19th, 2019 at 9:28 PM ^
Your Craig’s List rating is almost as low as your M Go Points, what was that guy so mad about the rusty trombone you sold him?
January 20th, 2019 at 3:09 PM ^
This might be the best mgopoints response I've ever read and I think lsa should take appropriate action based on your nonchalance.
Cheers.

If the coaches could do it over again, they would take David Reese.
Reese wanted to enroll early but the coaches didn't want him to be an early enrollee so he decommitted. One of the spots went to Ahmir Mitchell who washed out for being a headcase.
Reese ended up being a very good player at Florida.
Random fact: Florida has two players with the name David Reese: one is the LB from Michigan and the other is a DB.
January 19th, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
Ahmir Mitchell just needs a fourth chance, that's all.
January 20th, 2019 at 8:48 AM ^
Even I would not accept Ahmir Mitchell
January 19th, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
Looks like good potential. The kid plays hard, good speed, quick feet, plays well through traffic...likes playing football...like his frame. Pretty good for a 16 year old kid.
January 19th, 2019 at 5:19 PM ^
Not great offers.
January 19th, 2019 at 5:26 PM ^
Also not terrible offers.
January 19th, 2019 at 5:43 PM ^
We aint winning the big ten with Maryland, BC, Pitt etc. talent.
January 19th, 2019 at 5:54 PM ^
It’s early in the process and the kid is just a junior. He might develop into a 4 Star in a year everyone wants. It’s easier to find talent at home when you can see more of them
January 19th, 2019 at 6:00 PM ^
Yeah, he's #479 overall, so he's not that far away from 4-star range, which goes through the mid-300s.
January 19th, 2019 at 7:07 PM ^
Ohio State starting linebacker Malik Harrison's offer list wasn't much better. He was the #48 athlete and #683 overall in his class. And he won a Big Ten title.
January 20th, 2019 at 1:21 AM ^
Malik Harison was terrible this year and OSU won the B1G because they had signed the #1 recruiting class in the conference every year under Urban Meyer. The false equivalencies people make to justify things sometimes are baffling.
January 20th, 2019 at 8:06 AM ^
How is it a false equivalency? Ohio State has a starting linebacker with similar offers to Turner.
Nobody said anything about the rest of the recruits on the team. The point is that not every player needs to be an Alabama/Clemson/USC-level recruit in order to win a conference championship.
January 20th, 2019 at 11:46 AM ^
And OSU's defense was terrible this year so what's your point? I think the OSU game proved if you have even one or two weak links on defense OSU will ruthlessly exploit it, just ask Brandon Watson and Devin Gil.
January 20th, 2019 at 2:45 PM ^
...and they still won the conference.
You're moving the goal posts.
January 20th, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
Harrison also beat out all their stud lb recruits. That tells me he can play. I'm also of the opinion that the d sucking was Schiano's fault, not a lack of talent.
January 20th, 2019 at 4:44 PM ^
There are no goalposts to move and you aren't making any sense.
January 19th, 2019 at 9:42 PM ^
It might have helped to have BC talent AJ Dillon or Pitt talent Rashad Weaver this past season.
January 20th, 2019 at 1:26 AM ^
AJ Dillion was a top 100 247 recruit and Rashad Weaver would have been a backup this year but ok.
January 20th, 2019 at 2:12 AM ^
AJ Dillon was not a top 100 recruit to 247. He was #234.
You will never let it go. This is a top 500 player. Clemson takes guys like this every year. Even if we wanted to, we couldn’t take only 4* recruits and fill classes. Is Clemson not good enough?
Your delusion has gone plaid.
January 20th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
What's funny about this is Penn State has 20 commitments this year and 17 of them are 4 stars or higher, but it's too much to ask Michigan not to sign a class where half their signees are 3 stars because "we can't." It's amazing how every year we lose to OSU and fail to win the B1G and people still think nothing needs to change when it comes to recruiting. How many more L's do we need to ring up before people pull their heads out of their behinds. By the way I have no problem with this offer it's too early to know what is commitable and what isn't and the rankings will fluctuate a bunch, I'm speaking more in macro terms. It's not delusion it's reality.
January 20th, 2019 at 1:02 PM ^
SHUT THE FUCK UP!
January 20th, 2019 at 1:16 PM ^
Over a five year cycle, we are recruiting better than Penn State by composite average. Not by much, but we are #2 in the B1G by composite average over five years. Our problem isn’t recruiting - we could recruit slightly better but then we’d be ahead of Clemson - our problem is just not getting over the fucking hump. Beating Ohio State, B1G Championship, CFP berth, etc. We are right there. Because Michigan offered the #439 ranked player in the country isn’t why we lose.
January 20th, 2019 at 4:53 PM ^
Agree and it's probably why Franklin is 1-4 against Michigan. We clearly have an OSU problem and we are not recruiting better them over the same 5 year period. I have no problem with this offer for the record, but this class already has 5 commits and none are in the top 247. Last years class had 14 three stars, an absurd number given Seth's report on how many of our 3 stars go on to make the NFL. People keep bringing up Clemson, but Clemson's recruits the DL and skill positions better than almost anyone in the country in terms of 5 stars and top 100 talent. They also run a modern offense and play in a conference where no other team recruits even in the same zip code as them. And lastly their player retention rate is absurd. They don't lost guys like Drew Singleton, and James Hudson, and Aubrey Solomon. Michigan ain't signing guys like Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence, and DJ Ugalielei at QB. What's sad is Lloyd Carr recruited QB better than Harbaugh has. UM had a great 2017 WR class but Clemson does that every year. They would never sign guys like Kent or Johnson or Bell.
After the debacle to end the season it's not really a debate anymore. UM needs to modernize the offense which they appear to have done and they need a slight uptick in recruiting if they want to beat OSU consistently. You'd think after losing 16 of 18 people would realize that but I guess not.
January 20th, 2019 at 5:47 PM ^
Penn State has two things we don’t in the last few years. A win over OSU and a B1G title. We are right there per recruiting metrics - actually better than Penn State per average composite.
January 20th, 2019 at 6:40 PM ^
Good for Penn State, they also lost 3 games the year that happened and got destroyed by UM.
January 21st, 2019 at 4:49 PM ^
I remember when I first started following recruiting.......
January 19th, 2019 at 9:56 PM ^
I see we've gotten to the point that complaining about lower-rated commits is too boring, better to complain about perfectly fine recruits getting offers.
January 19th, 2019 at 11:07 PM ^
"We aint winning the big ten with Maryland talent."
Which team came closer to beating Ohio State: Michigan with Michigan talent, or Maryland with Maryland talent?
Which team came closer to beating Ohio State: Michigan with Michigan talent, or Purdue with Purdue talent?
January 20th, 2019 at 1:23 AM ^
So your argument is if Michigan recruits more like Purdue and Maryland, who by the way went a combined 11-14, they would have a better chance of beating OSU?
January 20th, 2019 at 2:46 AM ^
Shut up, maizen.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:48 PM ^
Only an idiot would think that's my argument.
My point is that recruiting rankings don't by themselves guarantee victory—general strategy, in-game coaching, and player development also matter.
You're continually screeching that the reason Michigan can't beat OSU is because our recruiting classes suck in comparison to OSU's. Somehow, MSU, Purdue, and Wisconsin all have more victories over OSU in the Tressel-Meyer era than we do, even though the only time one of those programs had a higher-ranked class than Michigan was one of the MSU classes back during the RR or Hoke years.
January 20th, 2019 at 2:06 AM ^
Maizen?
This is a top 500 prospect. If we could fill classes with top 300 talent only, we would. Only ‘Bama does that. Clemson takes guys like this every year. Are they good enough?
January 19th, 2019 at 5:31 PM ^
It's early for 2020 offers. Especially if you're not an elite player.
January 20th, 2019 at 10:39 AM ^
How is it early? We are in the 2020 recruiting cycle.
January 20th, 2019 at 11:29 AM ^
It's not early early, but it's kind of early. Kids haven't necessarily hit all the camps, neared their growth potential, gone to junior days, etc.
January 20th, 2019 at 4:46 PM ^
I mean Michigan is offering 7th graders and there are programs with double digit commitments already. Everything is accelerated now.
January 19th, 2019 at 8:13 PM ^
Man, Farmington sure looks a lot better these days than they ever have. Wonder if they'll get even more college recruits filtering through now that Harrison is closed.
