So you approve of Engler using his bully pulpit to belittle abuse victims? Or employing a boys will boys attitude wrt to Dantonio and Izzo's programs. Lets just get down to brass tacks here. I have no fucking clue how an abuse victim would even consider attending MSU with this fat alpha male fuck in charge. Personally, my sister transferred from MSU because she never felt safe on that campus as a woman. I definitely, would never approve of a future hypothetical daughter attending that campus if that is the direction of leadership on that campus.

I believe I can guess what your political views. It is transparent that you support an authoritarian leader; especially one that continued using the same morally corrupt tactics from his time as Governor and in the state legislature.

What did he do? Zero. He played the MSU cover-up game to a T. The culture never changed and many past guilty are still working. Go to EL and lose your religion.

Let me know if there is a Cliff Notes version.  On second thought, never mind.  Engler should have apologized for his disgraceful comments about victims enjoying their time in the spotlight.  If he did not do that, not interested in his resignation treatise.

Their previous dirtbag president whined she resigned due to 'political pressure,' and now she's looking at jail for lying to law enforcement. Would not be at all surprised if this dirtbag meets a similar fate. Fucking unaccountable shitstains think the end justifies the means.

I don't have the time or inclination to Fisk this letter, but it is one of the more fiskable documents I've seen, and I've seen a loooooot of documents.

He did succeed at protecting Mork and Izzo.  Without Engler those 2 would have been fired last year, but he did a good job of circling the wagons and taking the heat off those two.

If you are an MSU fan you have to tip your hat to him for protecting their two prized coaches.

Good...riddance...Engler.  You rode the money train your entire adult life and left damage and destruction in your wake, starting with the State of Michigan and ending with the victims of serial sexual abuse.

Engler's environmental policies alone should give anyone pause, regardless of how polarized anyone might be in their views.  It was the Nixon administration that gave us NEPA and other environmental protections.  Today, if you live in the Great Lake State, your water is contaminated and getting worse. Engler is like an old fashioned crime boss except less intelligent.

He hung on tooth and nail as he raked in the cash, until it became obvious he was going to be ousted, so he wrote pages of BS about why he was resigning.  At this point he's trying to preserve his legacy.  He won't be able to control how this legacy is treated by historians.

MSU needed someone who would handle this with nuance and delicacy, but they appointed a guy who’s been a go for broke party hack his entire career.  Now they’re seeing the predictable results.

it's interesting - john engler was in that position for one reason and one reason only, and that was to stone wall the victims and protect the board of trustees...and they're firing him / sending him to bolivia because he took it too far.

the entire administration needs to go.  period.

Nobody has the balls to fire anyone any more.  Corrupt, despicable individuals who have behaved shamefully are always allowed to "resign".  Of course, in this case, the BoT is just as corrupt and despicable.

Good. And good for the MSU board, finally.

I can't believe what a disaster the man was for this situation, and how some at MSU just doubled down on him.

John, you're missing the entire point. You could have tore down and rebuilt the entire goddamn university with your bare hands, you could have been singlehandedly responsible for making such radical changes that transformed MSU into a beacon of change for all schools, you could even have tried to look like you gave a shit.

None of that would matter if you act as you did. You've listed your accomplishments at MSU but you haven't listed the times you shat on rape survivors repeatedly. The latter is why you were fired, not the failure to achieve the former. (Note: the accomplishments themselves are questionable; I'm just assuming for the sake of argument that he actually did accomplish enough positive change to fill 10-ish pages).

John, you were a perfect fit for MSU. That's precisely why you were a horrible fit to fix MSU.

I’m  laughing out loud because not only are you correct, but it has been brought up, usually by me, in most of the surprisingly numerous “Engler” threads on the MGoBoard.  Including this one.

No need for you to feel “pretty sure”; you can be absolutely certain; Engler donated his salary ($510,399).

And yet people still keep posting ideas like this.

”A lie will be halfway around the world before the truth can put its boots on.”

Meanwhile four (4) plaintiffs law firms may be splitting $165 Million.

I believe I can make a safe hypothesis this republican sycophant draws benefits outside of a traditional salary benefits. Knowing his past ethically corrupt career, this POS rarely does anything for alturistic reasons. but of course we have people sec 1.8 supporting women hating assholes like Engler for tribal reasons.
