OT: Kliff Kingsbury to the Arizona Cardinals... as HC

There was that fleeting moment when Michigan fans thought he'd be a Harbaugh option.

Turns out he isn't even an option for USC. At least they've got it bad, too.

FWIW multiple reports that the Browns look like they're going to make Freddie Kitchens their next HC.  Kitchens took over the offense once Jackson & Haley were fired and definitely clicks with Baker.  I would be very happy with this move if it happens.

If you’re the owner of an NFL team and your GM wants you to fire the coach he just hired after only one season, then plops Kliff Kingsbury’s name on your desk - you fire him on the spot. Why would you trust this person to hire another coach? Insane.

Good to see Kingsbury pulling off the ol’ Lane Kiffin model: failing upward.

Flamed out at Texas Tech, and then somehow turning that into a head coaching gig in the NFL.

Yeah, I never expected him to stay at USC.  I will point out, though, that he anyone who complains about how kids should show loyalty to programs, Kingsbury undoubtedly recruited kids to USC while their OC and then bolted about a month later.  I don't blame him, but there are guys who he straight-up lied to.

I think the opposite may be true. The adage “pick the school, not the coach” is more true than ever given the way coaches move without regard to the impact on their employer or players. As long as players don’t get a get out of jail free card when coaches leave they are betting that school will be able to find coaches that are good teachers and recruiters so as to keep the program moving forward.

so a young P5 college coach gets fired then is hired as a head coach in the NFL.  well, ok.  good luck with that.  don't think i've ever heard anything close to that.

I did not see that coming. I thought someone might go outside the box and hire him as an NFL o.c., but I never thought someone would see a failed mid-tier college coach and see a future super bowl winner. I like that teams aren't just rehiring the same old retreads, but AZ and GB both seem to be going a little too far the other way. Good luck to them both. I'm sure both teams will be winning playoff games before my lions.

jeez, i get that you want to hire a young guy with potential, but give me a break.  the guy took tommy tuberville's 8-5 team and went...8-5.  i guess if you want a consistent 8-8, 9-7 nfl team, he's your guy.
