Trevor Lawrence could easily be a NFL quarterback, but the interesting thing is, he’s not going to be a pro football player, he’s studying to be an architect.  That’s always been his dream job.

Wow, 'bama has quit. Clemson couldn't run at all the entire game, but escaped from their 3 inch line and got a first down on the ground.

This game is really going to hurt Alabama's recruiting.  It proves they don't belong with college football's elite!  Are they ever going to recover???

Saban is going to be pissed when he finds out via message boards that he has to fire his whole staff and change all of his systems.

I kid, I kid.  Seriously, we need to use our offensive weapons.  Pay someone a lot to help us innovate.

I think it's important to remember that it took Dabo 7 years to build Clemson into a top program.

Even then, he was more known for "Clemsoning" than winning big games.

Patience, people.

And with amazing dudes in the trenches come year (honestly I don't know, 5?). We've had some...good ones.  But not the amount and on BOTH sides of the ball.  Our Oline has to get better and I'm nervous our Dline will take some steps back without stud tackles we've seen over the past almost decade.

I’ve always thought the Dabo comparisons weren’t applicable.  Dabo took over as a mediocre team/program whose head coach bailed on them (or fired I can’t remember) and had no previous head coaching experience.  Harbaugh’s resume coming in as Michigan’s coach was much better.  I’m not expecting NCs in year 4, but beating OSU, playing in a conference title game, not having embarrassing meltdowns on national tv, adjusting offensive philosophies? Yea, I don’t think I’m wrong for expecting that.

Well, goblue, we just saw 'bama - of all teams, 'bama! - have an embarrassing meltdown on the biggest stage of all. Apparently it can happen to anyone.

Michigan was a terrible call away from achieving 2 of your "expectations" in his second year. It sucks that call didn't go our way, but I think it's unfair to blame JH for it.

This year finished with a thud, but we also had some pretty big wins.

As for adjusting offensive philosophies, I get it. I expect JH probably does too. He's competitive, smart, and a good coach.

Hopefully we'll see some positive changes. I don't think we need to be Oklahoma, we just need to open things up and play with a faster tempo - at least at times.

I honestly believe JH will bring us some magical years if we give him the chance and he's willing to stick it out. All this sky-is-falling negativity is ridiculous IMO. Does no one remember the RR and BH years?

Let's be realistic; Clemson played the style they did tonight because they have an all-world QB slinging it, a line that can protect him, and they absolutely COULD NOT run the ball. Dabo was smart enough to recognize it.

Alabama's offensive philosophy didn't look that much different from ours, other than somewhat faster tempo. They wanted to pound the rock, and did so pretty effectively. It was the INT's and failures in the red zone (and pretty poor pass defense) that really put them in a hole. They got whupped tonight, but they've been awfully successful with that formula, including last year's NC.

You're right, Harbaugh had a better track record coming in than Dabo, but other than a better long-term history, I don't think Michigan's program was in any better shape than Clemson's when Dabo took over. And, it's probable Dabo cheats.

Jim Harbaugh is a high-end football coach. Just who do you think could/would do better, playing by the rules?

Alabama gets the benefit of the doubt with their track record of success.  Again, I think you’re being disingenuous.

Okay great, we were competitive with OSU 1 out 4 years.

What big win did we have? We beat terrible Wisconsin and MSU teams and an okay PSU team.  Not sure that makes us signature.

Great that you believe that and that Jim will adjust offensive philosophies.  I’ll believe I’m magic and adjustments when I see it.

Alabama’s offense looks vastly different than ours other than liking to run the ball. Their run concepts are night and day different.

Clemson also wasn’t in great shape before Dabo took over for Bowden.  Look up the history.   And prove it that he’s cheating.

Lastly, I don’t want Harbaugh fired.  I just don’t have pie in the sky expectations.  Since the end of the world war 2, we’ve been a very mediocre program who has a couple of good seasons, who can’t win the big game.  1997 was a flash in the pan.  We’re not elite and we’re likely never going to be.  I still think we should at least beat OSU or play in the Big Ten Title game by sheer luck once in a while, but I don’t have real expectations of us making the playoffs or winning it all, and that’s okay with me.  It’s right in line with the last 80 years of history.

They are cheating like crazy . . . Bagmen . . . PEDs . . . fake academics.  All of it.

But so is everyone else at their level.

It's like the Tour de France . . . you can take the trophy away from the 1st place guy for cheating, but who are you going to give it to?  The 2nd and 3rd place guys are cheating just as badly.
