Per 97.1 The Fan Columbus Ohio Former Georgia Backup QB Justin Fields will Transfer To Ohio State
January 4th, 2019 at 3:54 PM ^
You can absolutely say Meyer > Day and it's no disrespect to Day at all. Meyer is one of the best ever to coach college football. His 90% win percentage at OSU is about as good as you can get.
Maybe Day is also one of the best coaches of all time, in which case you could say Day = Meyer.
January 4th, 2019 at 1:31 PM ^
Do it guy, type Day > Meyer...be the first. What kind of ridiculous BS is that.
Listen, I'm a Temple alum and we had Ryan Day there under Addazio. Given my institutional memory of that guy and that offense I'll hold any opinion that says Ryan Day > UFM for some time.
Sure, he's got better talent to work with at tOSU but he'll be seeing better defenses (and without Urban running the deal going forward).
So yeah, Day even in a conversation as the Equal of UFM is bad logic.
January 4th, 2019 at 6:02 PM ^
Let me clarify:
What I am saying is that just because Meyer is better than Day, and Haskins is better than whoever is next, does NOT MEAN THAT OSU WILL BE BAD AND MICHIGAN WILL BEAT OSU. If they are 95% of what they are usually, that is still very elite.
It's not like we we lost by a FG this year and then OSU cleaned house. We got dismantled. A small step back from that is still a few steps ahead of Michigan (at the moment)
January 4th, 2019 at 11:24 AM ^
Wait.... so this guy gets immediate eligibility and yet Shae had to hire a lawyer even though ole Miss was clearly breaking NCAA rules and their coach was involved and he was lying about it. F THE NCAA
January 4th, 2019 at 11:27 AM ^
Word is Fields family hired the same lawyer
January 4th, 2019 at 1:35 PM ^
Interesting, thanks
January 4th, 2019 at 11:31 AM ^
He has the same lawyer Shea had. But he doesn’t have immediate eligibility yet. They just expect he will. It’s coming from a sports talk radio crew so take their expectation for what it’s worth.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:31 AM ^
What NCAA rules did Ole Miss break?
January 4th, 2019 at 11:35 AM ^
Uhhh is this a joke? They’re on a bowl ban this year for violating NCAA rules... Shea (and all of the other transfers) were granted eligibility because they were able to prove with text messages that the Ole Miss football staff misled and lied to them about the severity of the investigation and the results to that point.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:37 AM ^
Not a joke. I’m asking what rules they broke. You just said they violated NCAA rules. What did they do?
January 4th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
Are you really that stupid or do you just not pay any attention to college football?
January 4th, 2019 at 11:53 AM ^
So do you live under a rock or what?
January 4th, 2019 at 12:30 PM ^
If that happens and I were Michigan I would demand a public explanation.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:25 AM ^
The kid was a highly touted recruit but he has never played meaningful snaps in a college football game. This also means that the other highly touted recruit Martell will probably not be too happy. My feelings are that whoever steps in will not be as good as Haskins who set multiple records in one year of playing. Time will tell but I am not going to get too bent out of shape over a kid that has barely played and got beat out by a lesser recruit.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:29 AM ^
Denial stage 1.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:37 AM ^
You are obviously an OSU fan that wants so badly fields to be elite based on all your comments in this thread. I am not saying he won’t be but there is no basis for it at this point in his career besides the fact that he was a highly rated recruit. There is basis to think he may not be as good as his ratings seeing that he could not beat out a lesser rated recruit and feels the need to transfer.
Good luck having the attitude that it is going be easy replacing Haskins who probably put up one of the greatest statistical years as a QB in the Big Ten.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:39 AM ^
It’s pretty obvious he’s Maizen. The troll has nothing better to do than create multiple user names and troll from his mom’s basement.
January 4th, 2019 at 3:09 PM ^
The coping mechanisms of some on this board are truly something.
January 4th, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
I have no clue how good he will be, but he's a bit more than a highly rated recruit. He's the 9th highest rated recruit in 247sports rating history. So I think that should at least provide the basis that there's a pretty good chance he can play. Sure he has to prove it on the field, as does any recruit. A freshman not beating out a stud who almost won a Natty last year isn't a fair indicator of his ability to play, I'm not sure virtually anybody would have been able to beat out Fromm this year. Time will tell.

^^^maizen posting from his mom’s basement^^^^
January 4th, 2019 at 11:37 AM ^
Neither of them will be as good as Haskins. They will both pose a threat to run the ball and both throw better than JT, but they are not in the same league as Haskins when it comes to throwing the ball. For that matter, no one at tOSU or the B1G has ever been as good through the air as Haskins. The drop off in accuracy and quickness of the release will be significant but it will be interesting to see if they can make up for that with their legs.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
Absolutely agree with this take. I also think these style of QBs bode better for our defense as opposed a Haskins style who will pick your defense apart if given time.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
Yep, if I was a DC I’d much rather prepare for an extra runner (QB) than an offense with a QB like Haskins. He had a quick release and could hit any receiver who got a step a silly good % of the time.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:45 AM ^
I bet they’re both better than Felipe Franks.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:53 AM ^
Although this comment is probably true, it made me ?
January 4th, 2019 at 12:12 PM ^
Well...at least Michigan has beaten Franks before. Can't say that about Haskins.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:28 AM ^
This season was the beginning of the end for osu’s dominance. Two whiny qb’s are leading with their mouths while clueless Day thinks ‘I got me two 5 star qb’s - I will never lose’. You chicken littles need to lighten up and enjoy the tea leaves of the rapidly approaching demise of osu.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:32 AM ^
Gee you’re an upbeat lady.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:34 AM ^
If you're a betting man don't wager a lot of money on the OSU demise. Take a look at their roster - especially the LOADED 2017 and 2018 classes returning - maybe the 2 best back to back classes in the 247 era.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
Sorry wolve, but Ryan Day just does not scare me. By the way, how did this year‘s recruiting class turn out for osu?
Osu has been making up ground way too rapidly in head to head, but Ryan Day is coming just in the nick of time.
58-50*
hail to the victors
January 4th, 2019 at 11:57 AM ^
Wasn’t Day the OC of an offense that just hung 62 on one of the best Michigan defenses in quite some time?
January 4th, 2019 at 12:14 PM ^
The recruiting class is pretty good: three 5*s and the highest per-recruit grade in the conference. They've not TN, can't take 30 kids every cycle...
January 4th, 2019 at 12:20 PM ^
Osu aplogist rationalizing a lower ranked class? Times are changing indeed!
January 4th, 2019 at 4:59 PM ^
Not understanding your logic. I'm the farthest thing from an OSU apologist but they have a really solid class considering they are limited in numbers and yes they have the highest average/recruit in the BIG and 3rd highest in the country behind Georgia and Alabama. It's ranked lower simply because they don't have the number of recruits to factor in.
January 4th, 2019 at 12:15 PM ^
How did their class turn out? They’re 3rd nationally in average ranking per recruit. They have as many top 100 players as we do with half the class size.
Dont mistake a small OSU class as a class that isn’t full of top recruits.
January 4th, 2019 at 12:44 PM ^
This year's recruiting class for the Buckeyes is turning out great! Thanks for asking. Even before the addition of Fields, this class's Blue-Chip ratio (3.875) is on par with Meyer's last 4 classes. Meanwhile, Michigan's larger 2019 class has fallen farther behind at 3.6 (which means Michigan needed 7 fewer 3* recruits and 7 more 4* recruits to stay even).
January 4th, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
I so want to believe this but I just can’t right now. I also so wanted to believe that we would dominate OSU this year but I couldn’t. It will be interesting to see how Day handles the pressure.
January 4th, 2019 at 12:08 PM ^
I think that only 1 five star qb has lost the game recently. he was a transfer too.
January 4th, 2019 at 12:23 PM ^
One quick look at the history of OSU football should tell you that they never fall off. They are easily the most consistent football program of the last 50 years. That said, I do think they are anointing Day a bit too soon. However, osu will not tolerate losing so even if day does suck, his leash will be extremely short.
If we are ever going to beat osu regularly, we have to change instead of hoping osu implodes.
January 4th, 2019 at 12:29 PM ^
We are rising, and times are changing. Actually, if you look at history, it looks like things should soon return to their normal and proper order. #winningest
January 4th, 2019 at 2:46 PM ^
Things have been in their normal order. I suggest you look at your team's records the last 30 years. It is extremely rare you lose 2 or fewer football games. You've deluded yourself into thinking you're an elite program. The records indicate another story. The 1890's-1940's are long gone, bud
January 4th, 2019 at 7:53 PM ^
Head back to 11W, dickhead.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:29 PM ^
Almost there bud! Maybe you can match Michigan’s wins in your lifetime... I know it stings you so. At least you have your integrity and an outstanding academic institution.

Hahaha funny joke.
January 4th, 2019 at 2:17 PM ^
Well seems how urban meyer will still be on the athletic staff, I dont think he'll allow it
January 4th, 2019 at 5:40 PM ^
Without emotion involved I would LOVE to hear just how you factually can say this? the beginning of the end? hahaha, whatever helps you sleep at night man. They just picked up the 9th highest rated player EVER in 247 history, they have two guys already I would GLADLY have takes snaps for us and be an instant immediate upgrade. Quincy Avery (Sheas private coach) has said if he had a QB son Ryan Day is the only coach he'd want them to play for. This line of thinking, wishful, is what has going into games cocky and so self assured. Our coach is 1-9 versus top 10 teams but yeah, we are the ones that people need to shake and tremble over
January 4th, 2019 at 11:30 AM ^
typical Michigan luck...
its not the fact that Michigan hasn't gotten a highly touted transfer, its the fact that right after the QB that sliced up Brown's defense like it was Pop Warner declares for the NFL, another 5* qb transfers to OSU to potentially continue the tradition.
While the 'Woe is me' gets tiresome, it's things like this that trigger that feeling...
January 4th, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
it's things like this that trigger that feeling...
Yes, yes they are. Unless, during the course of your maturation from child to adult, you actually learned some coping mechanisms and how to compartmentalize and prioritize information and situations that are, a) actually meaningless entertainment; and, b) completely beyond your control.
C’mon man!
January 4th, 2019 at 1:16 PM ^
shockingly, you can compartmentalize the news and still see this as a negative for Michigan football...
January 4th, 2019 at 11:31 AM ^
absolute farce if gets immediate eligibility. Hardship because someone threw a racial slur at him? are you kidding me? If they grant it, just get rid of the transfer/sit out a year rule then.
