Zach Ertz 2.0 not burnt out and over used..i expect to excel in 1 year behind another league tight end then have his chance the following year. Sit behind a gates and learn a system and improve.

Best of luck. Never been a big fan of his, as drops just infuriate me. Still, he was a good player but I'm excited to have fresh faces atop the TE chart. Hopefully these guys are more made for the position, with better natural hands and blocking abilities. Looking at you, Muhammad.

Good for him.  It will be interesting to follow his career.  Hopefully, he latches on with a more forward offense that moves their TEs around and doesnt require them to be inline a lot.  He probably couldn't be entering the league at a better time.

This could be good for Harbaugh to use on the recruiting trail. He took a QB out of high school and turned him into an NFL TE

Im not worried in the slightest about losing him though. We need to focus most of our passing to our elite WR group. And Eubanks was actually pretty solid when he had balls thrown his way

This may be good to our team as we might be forced to have a more WR heavy offense. Gentry would have been amazing as a senior IF USED CORRECTLY. He could be a matchup nightmare as a shift from our 3 big WRs. With them demanding a ton of attention on them he’d have favorable matchups. However, he would have been used as a #1 option too often which would mitigate his advantages.

Now we have Eubanks who is a better blocker and a decent pass catcher as a change of pace. This might actually work to our advantage simply because the staff will not use him as a #1 like they used Gentry.

I think he needs 1-2 more years and he will turn into a really good player. He probably benefits more from going to the Nfl than staying at Michigan.

So, we are still waiting on Hudson and Long’s decisions, right? Long is very likely headed to the NFL, but Hudson will probably stay. Missing anyone else?

Hopefully Hudson stays. That would be a blow. He would be the vocal leader I think on the D. Showed it off against Florida. Expecting really big 19 year for him.

At this point, I’ll trade a Long to NFL for a Pep Sayonara. You still feeling good about this sort of swap lol?

Wait, wait, wait, we had a 6'8 tight end, 3 all-American level wide receivers and a 5 star QB and out number on option on offense was Karan Higdon.

My God Harbaugh is a goofball

Late brah.

Welcome to a 4th round selection and probably 500K in your bank account for most likely a 3yr washout NFL career.  Hope you don't hate M too much for fucking up your whole life.

I'd take $500k in my bank account at 20-ish years old.  And then another $500k per year for a 3 year career.  Fuck, I'd take all that right now at 46.  I have an engineering bachelor's degree from Michigan, a master's degree in engineering, and a decent job.

This is what fan boys don't understand.  Get the money when you can.  You can spend 35 years working at a job that your degree affords you and it might just equal the pay from a semi-productive 3-year NFL career.

If I was a 4th or 5th rounder with that contract, I would be ecstatic!

After a few years (if I wash out), there may be a few Michigan fans in the corporate world that would appreciate what I did for Michigan football and hire me.

No a bad career path.  Just need to be humble, work hard, and appreciative.  And keep clear of 'Harball sized HAIL', lest I be ridiculed at the water cooler ever day.

4th rounders don't get 500K signing bonuses you dumb fuck.  That would be his total pay for the average 3 year NFL career.

Dude, 4th rounders make a shit-ton more than 500k if they play for 3 years.  Yes, 500k would be the approximate signing bonus.  A 3 year career would net a 4th rounder out something around $2-2.5 million dollars probably.  So, yeah, pretty ruined life.

https://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-draft-contract-values-2017-4

Once a player falls past the third round, most draft picks will sign a 4-year deal in the $2.4-2.9 million range. The only major difference late in the draft is the signing bonus, ranging from $400,000-600,000 in the fourth round to slightly more than $60,000 in the seventh round.

Gentry had his pick of schools to go to.  Do you not remember?  Seems like every half witted fuck on this site knows every kids recruiting status from the time they're 12.  Harbs brought him here and turned him into an OK TE.  Yay.  We got to watch Speight and O'Korn tho so that was good.  Zach goes anywhere else and he's being drafted as the next NFL QB for their franchise.

And you know this to be true...how?

And if that was the case, why wouldn't a future franchise QB transfer - especially in a climate where QBs are transferring at a higher rate than in the history of the effing sport.

You mean to tell me BOTH guys you mentioned...John O'Korn and Wilston Speight transfer to get PT and "showcase their skills," but Gentry was just like..."okay, I'm an NFL QB, but gee golly...I'll grab a number in the 80's and start blocking."

If that's the case, then 1. He's an idiot and 2. NO ONE on this Blog should fault him for ANYTHING because he truly gave up being an NFL franchise QB (your words) to try and help his TEAM and this program.

So you all pick one, because I'm seeing right through you.

I don’t really get it. He has the potential to be a solid TE. But he is still so raw. His run after catch ability is lacking right now. His blocking is still developing.

These are all things he should stay and work on.

I don’t agree with his decision but I wish him the best of luck. I think he should come back for one more year. He would make a huge jump in the draft with another good year. I can’t see him going any better than 4th round right now.

Good luck.

Really was hoping he’d return, he was a total mismatch and becoming a really good weapon. Next year he could have really been something.
