Lol why are you here?
December 30th, 2018 at 5:55 AM ^
Want to debate it or just lol. Thanks for adding nothing tho. Now STFU!
December 29th, 2018 at 3:35 PM ^
Would love to know what other coaches have to say about Harbaugh within their inner circles.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:15 PM ^
We probably wouldn't like it. Don't forget he engaged in a bunch of twitter wars with different programs when he first started here. Have a feeling he hasn't made many friends in the CF world.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:58 PM ^
You know what it is. People like Dan Mullen and Urban Meyer have to sing the praises of Michigan to the media and to their locker room, but behind closed doors, they are laughing. They recognize the talent, but their reaction to coaching/scheme is undoubtedly: "That's it? I mean, I don't get it, but thanks for making it easier on us!"
Meyer had no respect for Michigan's program. He talked them up to the media and got his players pumped because his job and legacy depended on it, but at the end of the day, Michigan was a cakewalk for him.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:12 PM ^
I too imagine this is what it's like. The predictability factor is the biggest head scratcher.
December 30th, 2018 at 11:14 AM ^
They'd say they love going up against him, because his teams are predictable and thus easy to prepare for.
They probably also think he's a dork.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:36 PM ^
What I Learned Today:
Dan Mullen can and has built a better team in one season than Harbaugh can in four. This was an unbelievably pathetic showing in bowl season, once again. We do NOT have the best defense in the country. What we have is an extremely overrated defense who’s numbers were grossly inflated due to an extremely weak conference. Ohio St was right to be left out of the CFP. Both sides of the ball played extremely poorly today. Zero excuses for this coaching staff...and based on the way this season has ended, I see zero real reasons why I should expect anything to significantly improve next season.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:47 PM ^
Good points.
It was getting borderline embarrassing to have the announcers continually refer to the D as the "#1 defense in the nation." It was blatantly obvious this isn't anywhere close to true. Beating up on the dregs of the Big Ten doesn't make you #1.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:53 PM ^
Let's see how Penns St. and Ohio do before we judge the conference too harshly. Obviously Purdue shit the bed, but let's see how everyone does first. You know Meyer will have those guys ready to play. He always seems to, just pisses away one game per year.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
Or our team was missing several of our best players and the ones that remained felt like the season was already a disappointment. All these opinions about how this one single game proves this or proves that are so hot they're on ???
December 29th, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
Really?? So a few players sitting out is enough to bring four years of Harbaugh’s coaching and development crashing and burning to the ground??
December 29th, 2018 at 4:03 PM ^
Take a deep breath. Pop a Xanax. It's one game. 2/3 of our fanbase acted like this game meant nothing. You think the players didn't feel that way? I'm sure in August you'll be "hyped up" for the 2019 season.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:19 PM ^
It’s actually 2 games.
Back-to-back. Where the staff was completely outclassed and outcoached.
Unfortunately, for this game, they had a month to prepare.
December 29th, 2018 at 7:29 PM ^
It's actually 4 games.
This team looked like shit against Rutgers. Then went into the annual excuse-fest with IU. Didn't watch the tapes from Maryland and Purdue for tSOU, and then came out with this (lack of) effort.
Fucking embarrassing!
December 29th, 2018 at 4:23 PM ^
It's called PRIDE ! And if much of the fan base and players didn't feel it or care about winning, then why even accept a bowl bid ?
You can spin it any way you want, but every - EVERY - OSU player is playing in the Rose bowl including all of their high draft projections citing that they didn't want to let their teammates and coaches down. Notice the difference ?
December 29th, 2018 at 6:08 PM ^
How much of this is on the coaches though? Higdon and Gary flat quit on their teammates.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:25 PM ^
No actually, I won’t be. I’m not a roller coaster fan who celebrates the September heismans and then hates the staff in November. All season I’ve been waiting for Harbaugh and Co. to demonstrate why they were so hyped upon arrival. If you could ask any of my personal Michigan fan friends you’d know this.
All I read in this and most other blogs is how Harbaugh is one of the greatest coaches ever. Anyone who dares criticize him is crucified by the board. Well, I decided to take a “wait and see” approach this season. Nobody’s body of work deserves criticism until all the work has been completed. Well now the season is over. Four years of coaching and development brought to the world’s most pathetic crescendo. The wheels came flying off the bus in magnificent fashion.
Stand there and claim the entire team looked so so so bad (again) merely due to a few players sitting out. Stand there and claim that Harbaugh and Co. has this team on the cusp of greatness....NEXT year. Stand there and claim nothing is wrong and the team is “trending up”. Stand there and claim how we’ll easily beat OSU and win the conference next year because Day can’t possibly be any good and because Harbaugh.
I am firmly in the camp of “I’ll believe Harbaugh is capable of better than what we’ve gotten when I actually see the ‘W’ next to the OSU game and the team proudly holding up the B10 trophy above their heads.” Until I see it actually happen, I won’t believe that this staff is capable of taking us there.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:17 AM ^
+1 to you sir. Wish I could give you +100000. You have interjected logic into this conversation. I agree on all points wholeheartedly. I am sure the Harbaugh apologists don't agree as any critique of him does not sit well with them. But hey UM football is trending up and the usual retort of "UM has come a long way since RR or Hoke" or "trust in the savior Jimmy because we as fans don't know anything" should be the basis of comfort. F all that unicorn and rainbow feel good crap.I am tired of seeing teams rise from the ashes and pass UM by and the attitude around here is like Awe shucks Jimmy, it was a good year, we will get em next year tiger. Things are getting better around here.
News flash
UM has peaked, will level off now and enter the ranks of the middle of the road status. Not much bang for the buck.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:11 PM ^
Save that for Peach Bowl Snowflakes: The Fanbase
December 29th, 2018 at 5:11 PM ^
So 2019 is the year huh. Next year is always the year around here. Gonna pop a xanax and raise a toast to next year, and the year after that and the year after that and the year after that... Thanks for the opioid/alcohol addiction.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:17 PM ^
Next year definitely ain't the year. Y'know, I think Harbaugh has Michigan good enough that if we got lucky at the right time we could win a conference championship but not a Natty. That's just not happening.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:45 PM ^
Well, it's technically a benzodiazepine addiction. Or perhaps just a physical dependence.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:49 PM ^
Xanax is a benzodiazepene my dude.
December 29th, 2018 at 7:12 PM ^
I for one enjoyed meeting with friends and family. Preparing a menu and drink list to include peaches. I think the outcome was less than ideal, but I'll take a few 10 seasons over losing to the likes of Toledo (YTT) and Rutgers (YTR). Looking forward to 2019. Go Blue!
December 29th, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
Normally I appreciate your level-headedness but this comment borders on "the other guys just wanted it more" kind of bullshit. It's less about that Michigan lost this game and more about how. It's the same garbage that had plagued this team over and over and it comes down to just coming out flat against teams with a pulse. When you watch this team year in and year out while feeling like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day you eventually start losing apologists. I hope you stay strong in that regard because I'm running out of excuses that make any damn sense.
December 29th, 2018 at 8:30 PM ^
I don't know that people will be. Or to be more accurate, I don't think as many people will be as hyped as normal. And I think that'll show in season ticket sales too.
Because really, what is there to be hyped about? The defense looks broken and loses the majority of its talent and experience. The offense has talented players, but has shown no ability whatsoever on how to use them effectively. And then add in that schedule and woof. Has all the makings of a 3-4 loss season.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
Really? Jim Harbaugh is 1-9 against top 10 teams but this game doesn't show anything...We had all of our top players against O state and what was that score again? Jim Harbaugh is NOT the fucking Messiah, Don Brown is so overrated its ridiculous, Pep sucks. Look reality in the face and face it. I'm a Marine, we don't make excuses. We learn, we adapt, we overcome. Quit acting like this team is some great elite team or Jim fucking Harbaugh is. I'm seriously worried every kid that signed last week has a clause in their paperwork that would allow them to get out of it.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:27 PM ^
Oh a marine! Watch out everyone! We got a badass over here!
It's so simple, all the team had to do is these platitudes that this badass alpha male is presenting. How could they be so blind!?
December 29th, 2018 at 4:03 PM ^
this one single game
Yep, this has been the only game under Harbaugh/Pep/Brown where the team got their ass handed to them. Good thing Harbaugh isn't 1-9 against top-10 teams or one would think that you're quite the fool for saying anyone upset is only upset about this one single game.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
Brutus, I'm with you in regards to how not having Bush and Gary are problems that may be out of JH control. They are just special players.
RB wise though, we have a serious problem that people don't want to realize. If Charbonnet doesn't come in and light the world on fire, we have three guys that are no better than an average B10 RB. That's it. None of them are special in any way. Solid for sure, but not gonna be a game changer or someone you need to gameplan for. That is a JH problem! Dude needs to recruit better.
December 30th, 2018 at 12:06 AM ^
At least Harbaugh’s unqualified son is our RB coach. That’s going to be great!
December 29th, 2018 at 6:46 PM ^
Name an offensive coordinator and let him own it for better or worse.
December 29th, 2018 at 7:25 PM ^
Yes that's the problem. No official OC title. Of course! Are you available to hire?
December 30th, 2018 at 12:55 AM ^
One single game. Sure. After 4 seasons, what is Jim Harbaugh's signature win at Michigan? I'll wait.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:13 PM ^
Nailed it! GOOD/ELITE coaches can generally turn things around fairly quickly. Hell that list is long quite frankly. And for those wondering, no I DO NOT see or consider Harbaugh as good or elite, average at best. I totally expect the Harbaugh supporters to come with the "who is better for the program than Harbaugh" comments. To this I say there are many, do not ;let you homer glasses blind you. If by chance (highly unlikely) that Harbaugh is the best this program can do, then UM is just a middle of the road program along with the like of the TCU's, Oklahoma St.'s, Texas Tech's, MSU's, Minnesota's,UCLA's of the world. On a road to nowhere with no end in sight.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:21 PM ^
You forgot to circle the fact that they won the ACC that year.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:22 PM ^
Lol. Nice accomplishment. I'm sure Harbaugh couldn't have pulled that off.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:22 PM ^
Maybe he could, if he didn’t have to face a top 10 team.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:27 PM ^
Great. Now all we need is a DeShaun Watson caliber QB and an armada of bagmen and history will repeat itself.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:29 PM ^
Show me a team that doesn't have an armada of bagmen and is doing better than Michigan
December 29th, 2018 at 4:40 PM ^
Notre Dame.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:42 PM ^
How long did that take Brian Kelly? He lost to Rich Rod and Hoke. Try again.
BTW the basketball coach that everyone here worships took a long long time to get the program where it is. And basketball takes far fewer pieces to build a program than football.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:49 PM ^
Well, seeing how ND isn’t doing better than us, how about we sink down to their level next year and have an unbeaten season and a bid in the CFP?
Would you be ok with sinking to that level?
December 29th, 2018 at 5:11 PM ^
Kelly had ND playing in the BCS title game in his 3rd year at ND.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:15 PM ^
So many of these accomplishments you people are citing are circumstantial. They got annihilated by the only good team they played.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:53 PM ^
Ohhh they got blown out by Alabama, that never happens to 99% of teams they play. Must have been nice to at least play in the fucking national title game, we can't even come close.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:47 PM ^
Would you rather have Gene Chizik? After all, he has a national championship.
You can't point out achievements without also pointing out circumstances. Look at Rich Rod's achievements at WVU. I'm not defending Harbaugh's decision to keep Pep employed and I'm not saying I'm satisfied with where the team is now. I am saying that there are reasons to believe they could still keep moving up and that circumstances are a big reason they're in the position they are now. Certainly not all of it, but part of it. There are many people who believe Harbaugh needs to be fired or are indifferent to the idea of parting ways with him. I still believe that is insane.
