Harbaugh doesn’t expect any staff changes this offseason

Baumgardner just posted this on Twitter. You have got to be fucking kidding me. This program is a joke. Expect another repeat of beating bad teams and getting out shit pushed in by good teams.

My stubornness in not wanting to admit he is that stubborn has come to an end.

I cannot see how he will stubbornly hang on to Pep Hamilton with yet again another big game with nothing scored in the 3rd qtr after half time adjustments. Where are the WRs in Michigan's offense?? Michigan does not even have one WR in the top 150 WRs in the Nation. The highest ranked in the Nation is Nico Collins at #182:

And there it is. THIS is as good as Michigan football will ever be under this regime: a freaking blow out loss in the weakest NY's 6 bowl to an inferior opponent. The sooner we all get this through our stupid heads and adjust our expectations accordingly, the better we'll all be mentally and emotionally.

Wow. I was willing to give Harbaugh the benefit of the doubt seeing as he realized he had to fire his good buddy Drevno and made a change with the OL which turned out to be a great decision...but if he can't see that we need a new OC then maybe it is time for him to go. Our best opponents have figured this offense out, and it looks like they are figuring out the defense as well. Even the coaches playing in the playoffs realized when it was time to make a change with their teams...if Jim can't see it's time for a change 10-3 is the best we will get and that is damn disappointing.

To be fair, I doubt he would tell anyone at a presser, so that answer isn't one I am going to read anything into right now. To expect coaches to be forthright about such things at a post-bowl presser would be naive, in my estimation.

Look dumbasses, I want changes too but what do you expect him to say right after the game? “Thanks for the question Jim, I’m firing Pep and Don as soon as I leave here”.

I get that we overreact in the immediacy of yet another disappointing loss but what do you consider building to get better? We’re headed to Year 5, we have yet to figure how to slow down mobile QBs, our offenses struggle against decent opposition. It’s just hard to see this program’s ceiling being anything beyond what this year showed if we’re not going to make any changes.

I agree that Jim wouldn’t, and frankly neither should he, state any expected changes right now. But, if there’s a clear example that change should be welcomed just look at what Warinner did with our OL this year.

Fire Don Brown? Michigan was dominated by Penn St last year. Don Brown made adjustments, and this year Michigan's defense dominated Penn St. You don't fire a man that can do that.

On the other hand, after 2 years of this passing game, you don't keep the man that is doing that. Why wasn't he let go before the end of last season is what is at issue here.

That's bad, not just b/c we need to make changes, but worse that he'd say such a thing this soon after a game without giving real thought to the issue.

Mark Dantonio said the same thing after going 3-9.

i just realized mark dantonio actually didnt make any staff changes after going 3-9 lol

Except Dantonio is a proven better college coach than Harbaugh. Even if you include what Harbaugh did at Stanford.

I know they’ve tapered off the last couple of years, but three Big Ten titles, two HUGE wins over Meyer-coached OSU teams, Rose and Cotton Bowl wins, an 8-3 record against your biggest rival, and a playoff appearance don’t lie.

Harbaugh has nothing close to Dantonio’s results right now.

That's laughable.  The only thing Dantonio does better than Harbaugh is high variance teams.  Hence you get some accomplishments.  You also get a 3-9 season.

And a 21-17 record in the last three years while Harbaugh is 28-11.

Hmm ... 21-17 is better than 28-11.  I would love to know what you would be saying if Harbaugh was 21-17 in the last three years.

btw - If we want to look at the last four years its Harbaugh 38-14, Dantonio 33-19.

But you're right.  Dantonio is better.

Well don't expect anything to change all you Harbaugh apologists. As a public service to all the Harbaugh is the savior of the program, this hawt take (more common sense though) is given for free. If at all I could get some fools to part with lets say...7-8 mil for such sound and logical thought please feel free to donate. Watch out you middle of the road programs, Michigan football is coming for you. Elite blue blood programs need not fear.

I guess don't expect anything different than the previous four years.

Beat up on inferior teams, struggle with middle of the road teams, get curb stomped by equal or better teams.

Run 65% of the time and give up 3rd and longs at an alarming rate.

Expectation set!

Time will tell. As I recall, JH said that after the bowl game last year. No doubt, JH will need to make more changes in both offense and defense coaching staffs. Let's start with an OC.

Absolute ceiling for this program next year is 10-3. They will lose at least one of the away games between Wisconsin and Penn State, probably both, they’ll get beaten by OSU (again), and probably lose their Bowl game. Hell, they could lose to  Army and get outcoached/lose to MSU again.

If Harbaugh isn’t going to evolve, why should we expect the results to? Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

I also remember seeing Harbaugh get woefully out coached by MSU in 2017, when he asked his QB to win by throwing  in a rainstorm. Dantonio was smart enough to tell his team to race out to an early lead before the storm came in, hold on once the storm settled in, and let Michigan make the mistakes.

Dantonio is a smart guy. Wouldn’t at all shock me to see him get the best of us again next year. The only thing Harbaugh gets to hang his hat on these days is that he at least can beat Dantonio half the time.

But beating Dantonio is like beating the Boltons. Who gives a shit if you can’t beat the Lannisters (OSU)?

Give it a couple weeks. That wouldn't be the best setting to come out and say people would be losing their jobs. It would, in my opinion, be a bad look to come out and say something like that.

Relax. Jim Harbaugh has always been good at adjusting. Offensive Line was bad, he got rid of Frey/Drevno. Recruiting slacked, brought in Moore and Washington. Wide Receivers weren't good, he got a full time coach. Strength and Conditioning was an issue, he got Herbert. I would expect a pretty big change on staff, and I would guess Michigan gets a full time OC and is more spread oriented than they've been.

Anyone who expects a head coach of any program to announce or suggest staff changes right after a bowl game is a bit naive.  That's just not how it works imo despite whatever "penetrating" questions the media might ask.
