Khalid Hill vs Dave Portnoy (Barstool) on Twitter
Tonight there was some back and forth between Khalid Hill and Dave Portnoy (Barstool president) on Twitter. Portnoy said on a podcast that Michigan players should apologize to him for their poor showing again OSU. Khalid took exception to that. Now on one hand this is just some petty twitter beef but what I find interesting is that Dave Portnoy is a Michigan grad. I never hear about this guy around these parts, probably because the overlap between Barstool and Mgoblog is slim to none. I assume everyone would have the Hammering Panda's back in this argument, but does Dave Portnoy have any rep among Michigan fans?

I’m not saying what HH or the Unabomber did was right, but if I had to pick my next roommate from the aforementioned group, I’d take Una in a heartbeat before Portnoy or the Coultergeist. It’s not really that good content wise but they have some good twitter follows if you’re into twitter IMO. The general Barstool twitter and Instagram accounts are worth following at least for general good sports clips.

Part of the issue with Barstool (Portnoy's company) is that people take them way too literally. They have a specific brand of satirical comedy that's mixed with sports and culture. Some people love it and some people hate it but their concept is meant to be presented as if it was you and your friends watching a game together in your basement. As far as Portnoy himself, he's a huge Michigan fan but I don't think he has a specific "rep" either way.

If it was satire the authors would have to be aware of the fact. I think it’s just crude for the sake of being crude and not in an ironic way. While it’s worth an occasional chuckle, their content is the sports equivalent of Andrew Dice Clay. And this is not a compliment.

I understand the animosity against Barstool Sports. I only follow for the edgy humor and sports of course but they can definitely be insufferable at times. An unhealthy amount of their followers seem either sexist, racist or both. Dave Portnoy is a classic dushbag but he isn't terrible?
I saw a clip of what he said and I didn't think he was serious but that's no excuse. I can see how current/former players would feel attacked and I don't blame Khalid for speaking out. Imo, Dave Portnoy is no one to take serious when it comes to his Hawt Takes.

This comment is dumb. You took "brad" out of context as he wasn't simply saying that nobody pays attention to the barstool douche, he was making a joke about the douche sharing a name with a character in the movie Tropic Thunder. That character, Portnoy, specifically warned the group to not pay any attention to him while he went through heroin withdrawal and was subsequently ignored by the rest of the group during a scene where he was trying to convince people to untie him while he was going through withdrawal.
Lastly, it would have only been ironic if the thread starter was the one who said "no pays attention to him." There are a lot of posts that are saying "no one should pay attention to him," but that isn't what you're trying to sound intelligent about.

I took your advice and read up on it. Turns out theres quite a bit to the story and Sam Ponder may not necessarily be the hill to die on in this case. Sounds like Ponder torpedoed their ESPN gig. Barstool said some very inappropriate things about her. Then she claimed Portnoy said she should have aborted her child which people looked into and found to be a false claim.
Again, what the Barstool guys said about her was messed up but lets not try to act like Ponder was some sort of moral compass in that situation either.
